Fair point - the BBC produce some dross as well as their brilliance. It would be nice if they could leave stuff like "My hero" to the commercial channels.
That said, even if I don't like the Eurovision song contest I can admit that they produce it far better than commercial stations would ever be able to. They don't need to whip the crowd up like some sort of Simon Cowell show, they're just able to show it for what it is, usually with a host who knows it's all a bit rubbish!
The TV license is cheaper than any other subscription based TV you might receive... I think the point is the BBC has given us a lot of good TV, more than the bad anyway. I like your point, but we all know the BBC has provided some crap telly, but a lot of it is great. Point is without it we end up with reality TV, text in, phone in, buy the single/DVD adverts every ten seconds generic boring made for idiots telly. It's worth some BBC crap for the BBC gold. Surely?
Why does everyone take the piss out of micheal macIntyre, most people find him hilarious, how does that make him a bad comic. It just snobbishness, that he has made what used to be quite an exclusive interest accsesible to everyone. there is no format difference between his show and Live at the Apollo, and noone slags that off.
@TheClockworkPenguin I think its just the man himself that so irritates people. He skips arond the stage like a delirious primary school child, cannot keep his head still for a single second, has an annoyingly snobby voice and frankly - Isn't very funny.
One critic once said of MacIntyre "He's the typical example of a child whose mum and dad told him he was hilarious but in reality, is not."
The success he has had is admirable though - even if not everyones cup of tea
Ha ha, this is great! Must admit I do like McIntyre, and Bonekickers was so bad it was hilarious, but yeah, all opinions are objective. Nice effort, and great pics too!
Two Pints, Michael McIntyre, Eurovision, How Not To Live Your Life, Terry & June, That's Life... These are yet more reasons to LOVE the BBC! But hey, I respect your opinion. :-)
Good but would have been better if you stuck to the tune you were emulating. What is the meaning of that overtly annoying 'finger-to-the-lips' silent gesture at the conclusion? More infuriating than Ann Robinsons wink!!!!!
@kamelion7 "What is the meaning of that overtly annoying 'finger-to-the-lips' silent gesture at the conclusion? More infuriating than Ann Robinsons wink!!!!!" LOL!!!
@MrCharlesgoodwin Yes, I thought that too.... Until I watched it again recently. It really is stunningly bad. So much so that it is now one of those shows I use to cheer myself up laughing at it.
Fair point. Not everything the BBC does is great. But, generally, the BBC is great.
I have no idea why the top few of the links on the right hand page are to a theme that's nothing whatsoever to do with your video though! I won't identify the theme, in the hope that the link will break and they'll go away.
Yes, the BBC has done a lot of shit too, however percentage-wise the BBC succeeds so much more than it's rivals. On top of this I'm SICK of the constant bashing of McIntyre. He's not the best comedian out there but can be pretty funny at times. Also what he's doing with Comedy Roadshow is a very good thing for comedy, he's giving rather unknown comedians the chance to break through. He's not my first choice in the comedy world but we will have him to thank for some future talents.
@2205923358 Nah, MacIntyre is the epitome of whipping up nothing and pretending its something. And even the best of comedians on his show suddenly turn mediocre. It's a crying shame. He is killing stand up comedy. We just need Stewart Lee to keep bringing it back to life.
That intellectually superior rag The Sun once described Stew as 'the worst comedian..........about as funny as bubonic plague' which only made me love him more.
If nothing else this is a prime example of why you should make sure you are at least as intelligent and talented as the person you are parodying. Besides several (well at least two) of the shows sited are pretty popular on the whole. Another positive for the BBC is the appeal to a wide range of tastes not just people who like Come Dine with me or Coronation Street which seem to be the only things on other terrestrial channels
few hugely popular, (?) shows that don't spring to mind from Sky are: Dream team, The Strangerers, (science fiction), Al Murray's Time Gentlemen please, Baddiel's syndrome, Hex, Mile High the 3 Terry Pratchett's books, Got to Dance, Pineapple Dance Studios and Angela and Friends. The rest of their shows they buy in from America, mostly from murdoch's own tv Fox channel. So please let's get rid of the BBC and replace it with the above!!!
@Carniphage yeah, no shit :P I was just saying shows that they PLAY that are good, if we were just talking about what they make then I wouldn't even get one show
Yeah....don't do that, mate.
P.S - Show and show don't rhyme, they're the same word. Just sayin.

I agree that not EVERYTHING the BBC does is amazing and great - but spend some time in Germany and you will see how shit public broadcasting can be!

I liked this continuation.
I think it might be because despite watching some of those shows listed, you're right they are total shite .
Although My Hero up until the last series was actually pretty damn funny. good video though

I tell you what, though, if you were to write this song about ITV or Sky One, you could squeeze a lot more than 51 seconds out of it.
And was I the only one who liked Vexed?

Yeah, probably.

@kamelion7 It's a reference to the final scene of the BBC's Perfect Day video where Lou Reed holds his finger to his lips.
