  • i have used that same chain method for tires,, but,, man..please dont use a chain on a classic truck like that,,use a 5 or 8 inch diameter tow rope..or u could do it the redneck way. put the tractor in low with the motor just above idle leave the clutch out tighten the chain and run 2 your truck put it in reverse, once the truck is moving put it in neutral and run 2 your tractor and do the same. this way u do not have 2 jerk things apart.

  • @wasstrop Ya That chain could have killed me, just lucky. I won't be getting stuck like that again. I'm biulding a fully tracked buggy now.

  • thats a sick truck

  • @cumminsbayou I used to be nice, but its so dam hard on gas I had to stop driving it

  • Nice try you should have someone get into the truck while you pulled with that old tractor

  • @Neil7026 Ya it would have came right out if I had help lol

  • Do whatcha gotta do

  • Hei, man, that's not the way to put on some chains on a tractor. I live at the country, I see mani tractors equipped with chains for winter or wood-working, but what you did with your tractor is... I don't have words to say... And the way you pulled the truck with the tractor- I hope you didn't broke the chassis, is inhuman what you did there. Tottaly wrong!!!

  • @electron1980 The tire chains work well for what they are and if you have no money to buy real ones this works. As for pulling out the truck it was a bad move. I was just lucky to not get that chain in the head. You probly don't want to see how I just put chains on my plow truck then. I will have that video up in the next few days. Total cost was under 30 bucks to chain the rear tires lol

  • that chain is going to break and come sailing back and take your head off

  • @mrShikadanse It almost did just that.

  • I'll start by saying, I love your videos. I imagine you must have a come-along being that you live on a farm. Next time use the tractor as an anchor and use a come-along to winch some tension and then back up little at a time with the truck, put it in park, and repeat with the come-along. Even one rated for less weight than the truck can be used if you use proper tension. Anyway, that truck sank... LIKE A ROCK!

  • @landon460 I never even thought about it lol, I have a chainblock but forgot all about it and alot more vidoes to come. Thanks my friend.

  • only goes to show that its not to many people out side of scandinavia who knows how to deal whit chains

  • @TheTractormaster It dosn't look good as store bought chains but will work if its all you have lol

  • where is your monster volswagon tractor it will pull it no problem

  • when you back up with the tractor don't go in your same path go in a different path you will get more traction i have to do the same thing when skidding trees out of the wood with my tractor or when i pull a sled with it

  • 5000 pound winch and a really large tree would solve your problem fast..

  • @Me102288 I'd love to have one, but hope fully I don't get stuck like that again

  • Better to use nylon tow line than nasty dangerous chain no?

  • @ProfCumulunimbus Yes but I didn't have a nylon tow line.

  • My father (farm boy) did this exact same trick on my tractor when I dropped it through the ice on a small creek in about 1972 in Colorado and he drove the tractor right out. I foolishly left some very nice tractor chains in my shop in Vancouver, Washington which the evil 'respondent' got in the divorce. I recently noticed that the respondent stole two of my nice logging chains also. What the hell she needs logging chains for I will never know, but I sure do need them!

  • I get uneasy seeing the shock load on that chain.

My fear it snapping and hitting you.

  • @northerbrewer I've had it happen a few times. You think after the first time I would not do it again

  • @jonnieparker1 No problem. Just remember to stay away from the valve stem

  • Good point and thanks for the tips. I hope I never have to use them lol

  • Ya might wanna spend the $70 on a proper recovery strap, it beats a broken hook to the back of the head any day.

Also, you were so close to getting it out that I know a strap would have done it.

That little tractor does have some punch.

Another trick is to drop the tire pressure on the truck.

  • and yet the car is still stuck LOL

  • Cfarm... how long of a length do you start with? i got 19.5L-24 tires and do not want to buy chains at this time, but will use lengths of chain to try,..... what do you think?

  • @merc45 I'm not sure how long it was but think it was down to 10 ft as I had broken that chain a few times. You can start with any lenght and add to it if you have to. You could even go back over it going the other way making an x cross across the tire. Just remember to stay away from the hole with the valve stem.

  • thanks for the idea

  • I really like this idea, I notice chains are about 300 bux for my tractor for the cheap ones, for a better chain they are 500 bucks... just a length of chain is lots cheaper, I may try this out thanks!

  • @merc45 It got me through many winters. just makesure to stay away from the valve stem where you put air in the tire.

  • Your dog is beautiful - looks like he is having as much fun as you are.

  • @CaliTrisha Ya I think he was. I miss that dog. Had to have him put down last year. Have new dog now.

  • @ShawnCFarm Thats sad. I have 7 cow and sheep dogs on my farm. I keep kind of busy just taking care of them!

  • What a great idea!

  • @xenathegoat Should be tighter but it works lol

  • You shoud have a longer chain so you coud do more turns around the tire but sure beats nothing.

Did you get the car loose?

  • @Dieselolds ya its in another video lol.

  • tow strap would worl a lot better than a chain

  • Nice Vid Shawn,

You're lucky to have that old tractor and truck to mess around with.

    Thanks

  • Yes very lucky in some ways and cursed in others. Have you seen what I was wearing lol.

  • thanks man 5star

  • I hope it helps ya someday if you ever get stuck without chains. You have to make a video some on your ol;d ford so we can get it going again.

  • I've been stuck down to the the axles on my Ford 7610 tractor. Wasn't fun...

  • I've been there as well. Had my old John Deere stuck like that front and back. Had to have a budy with his big 4x4 tractor to pull it out.

  • Necessity is the mother of invention they say.

  • The things people will come up with when there is a need.

  • Glad you have a strong chain and truck frame. 5*

  • The chain is really heavy duty logging chain, and I was hooked onto the trailer hitch. I didn't pull on it as hard as the last time, but you think I would have knowen better to do it agian ~grins~

  • DEAR GOD AT 4:18 a wolf is stocking you!!! that truck is stuck good

  • He thinks hes a wolf, just a big suck, unless he don't know you. Next upload the truck comes out lol.

  • your one ghetto redneck keep up the good work

  • You have to work with what you got, and its not money lol. I do have tire chains but they are way to wide and long to fit this tractor.
