The "bio" prefix, is it simply because it uses living plants as source? If its structure is made out of long polymer chains (which gives its appealing strength, resistance and flexibility) how quickly does it biodegrades? Does it degrades as quickly in the low temperature/light condit of the ocean?
And finally... how ethical it would be to use the required surface of arable land and drinkable water to produce the needless amount of packaging, gadgets, disposables that we currently use?...
We can make organic plastic from vegetable oil but the oil industry stops it's development to protect their profits! Lets tell them to go fuck themselves and start producing organic plastic and save the environment!
