  • THAT WAS ME AT 3 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my daughter was reading books at 3....never messed with flash cards though, she just started reading.

  • I am glad you shared this video. Most children are able to accomplish this if given the exposure. I also taught my children how to read early. Great job. I hope he does well in all that he sets out to do.

  • Cute but not a mericle or anything. My baby cousin did shit like that too

  • my autistic daughter was also reading before she was talking.

pretty amazing little geniuses we have! Watch out world!

  • How many flashcard words did he know at this point?

Can he read phonetically? I need help to get my4 year old reading phonetically, he can rad around 30 sight words. Thanks. Keep up the great work?

  • This is actually hyperlexia. Able to read at younger age than an average child can.

  • aw, he is so cute! My son also has hyperlexia, and he started reading at 2. He is almost 7 now and though he has a very high reading level it is of course not as impressive anymore. He has been taken out of special services for the first time, and is going into a gifted program next year. These kids are so smart and they get so much better as they get older. you couldn't have convinced me 3 years ago that my son would be leading a normal life by now, but he is!

  • I know a boy who at 3 yrs 3 months old read "Antiques."

He was tested & found to be reading at a 3rd grade level.

On 4th birthday he could spell "Brachiosaurus."

People don't seem to realize that if parents followed, "The Turnley Reading System: based on Sonsils" by Francis R. Turnley all 3 yr olds could learn to read before 4 yrs old.

  • My son started reading at 2..

  • Thanks for the video. My daughter is 29 months She can read English and Persian, also she can read numbers till 999. So far I was thinking it should be this way. You gave me the idea to...

  • my son is 3 years and 4 months old and he started reading on his own (sight words)....he's in my preschool classroom and just started doing this on his own without me really teaching it to him that long. He can also write his name and other words really good. He's proven all this on his own basically.

  • Reading words is not reading. Reading is comprehending. Can he read a favorite story and fingerpoint to each word in a text?

  • Yes he could and did. This was done a while ago. In kindergarten he was diagramming sentences. He's in third grade now where he is reading on a seventh grade level. He's doing all right in math, too. Drilling him with flash cards gave him the leg up he needed.

  • Actually reading words is reading...just without comprehension. If you knew anything about hyperlexia you would know this to be a classic symptom of it. I do know that people that place a Dr in front of their names are more concerned with their title and the supposed respect it brings than anything else. Or they're not really a Dr in the first place...which is most likely the case here.

My son is 3 with hyperlexia and I think this video is fantastic. Keep it up!!

  • as a matter of fact, he does read books. he's reading level 1 books.

  • @DrBarnes1 Well this is a really late reply but reading words IS reading. Wouldn't a child need to learn to read words first before he can read sentences? How can he read sentences without knowledge of the individual words beforehand? Words are the building blocks of sentences. This exercise is how he would gain the ability to fingerpoint to each word in a text.

  • that is the most passionate reading i have ever seen!

  • I'm very proud! Keep up the good work! I learned to read when I was 4.

  • Thanks a lot! Our son enjoyed his flash cards, and we enjoyed the opportunity to engage him. We kept it fun which is half of the battle.

  • Very cute boy!

    My son reads too.

Always nice to hear from special kids reading.

  • Thanks so much!

I've seen your videos. They're terrific!

  • Wow, he is really smart, he even spell the words ! Cute kid! I'm amazed ..

  • Thanks! We were amazed too. Check out his other videos
