the "Be my D" song and the actual record itself don't even match. the record looks that of a 70's period goup during the time this clip was recorded. (obviously)
It wasn't just the voice that scared me, it was also the bushy hair for some reason. Probably because that was his only cameo and I wasn't used to him.
Out of the three muppets, the purple Anything muppet is the only muppet who is holding both of her hands up where it can be seen easily (The lavendar muppet is holding up her left hand in the middle of the song too but, it can't be seen easily).
I remember this from when I was a kid! I think it's from the very early 1980s, though. Pretty funny they just used whatever LP they could find for the Bushman Bill's records!
1: Since people say that Brian Muehl's voice for Bushman Bill was too scary, sometimes I wonder "Why couldn't they have Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson or Richard Hunt perform Bushman Bill?".
2: Of the 3 female muppets singing the song, my favorite one is the purple Anything Muppet. I liked her long black hair.
That's a good point. It is unknown who Didi O'Day is. Unless, none of the three muppets are named Didi O'Day where "Didi' O'Day And The Dew Drops" is just the name the three of them picked for their singing group without any one of them named as Didi O'Day.
I noticed one blooper at the 0:47 mark: Just before the lavender muppet starts to sing "When you're near me..."), her earring falls off her right ear.
Bill Bushman scares the crap out of me. Especially after when he says "Now, back to your regular schedule kiddy show!" He starts looking at the camera. EEEEEEEEEEEE!
I agree. I used to be scared of this too. As soon as he said "Now back to your regular kiddy show" at the end and then looked at the camera with his mouth wide open I would be very scared. Sometimes I would close my eyes as soon as the "Be My D" song would end, and sometimes I would listen to him saying the line and watch him open his mouth widely while peeking a little bit under a blanket.
I don't off hand recall seeing this as a youngster, though I've learned not to be too sure of anything. I can't really say for sure whether Bushman Bill would have scared me or not.
I think Bushman Bill should ease up on the coffee, don't you think?

@KingSlifer: I think he needs to get his haired groomed, shave his mustache, and definetly ease down on the cafeene. :P

Whoa, whoa! Slow down, Bushman Bill! The song's got some great groove, but Bushman Bill talks a little too fast. Still, I think he's pretty funny.
How can Brian Muehl talk that fast?!

Did Jim Henson ever used a female voice for his characters?

Well they obviously most likely just grabbed whatever LPs were nearby and used those

Considering how she's often performing singing Muppets, I wouldn't be surprised if one of them was performed by Marilyn Sokol.

Is bushman bill supposed to be Howard STern?
I LOVED this and forgot it existed! more love for sawing!

Great song... the only thing that would make it better would be if it were sung in the key of D (they sing it in G)... >_>

Two things:

The purple muppet was also my favorite one. I also liked her long black hair. She also has a very nice singing voice.

Well, not everyone found his voice scary. And scary or not, I think the voice fit his image perfectly, and anyway, everyone deserves a chance.
I don't have a favorite of the singers, but one thing I can't help observing is that it is never indicated which one is Didi O'Day.

That seems pretty unlikely to me. I don't know of any group like that. I'm guessing Didi is probably the Fat Blue one, since she's in the middle.

Way to use the word depressed, on sesame street lol! One of the happiest shows on earth.

All I know is that Bushman Bill's voice was performed by Brian Muehl. Anyone know who performed the singers' voices?
tpirman1982 4 years ago
Bill is Brian Muehl, but I don't know about the other singers.
Whether Bushman Bill scared people or not, I think we can all agree that the song is nice and catchy.
