the only thing that i really dont like about fire alarms is that they're loud and scare the fuck outta you. i remember in orchestra class, we had just started playing a section of a piece and the alarm went off on beat 3 of the second measure. the student teacher and everyone else in the room jumped, they were so startled.
Yep! That same horn is shared by System Sensor smokes, SpectrAlerts and PA400s. Wheelock also uses it for the MIZ, and it can be found in all BRK and First Alert smoke alarms. That's because the horn is made by a company that distributes it to these specific companies.
That is because with the "screechy" sounding tones (like the Spectra in Electromech. or the MIZ-24-S) power is not continuously applied. I haven't checked this theory, but I think that power is switched on and off very quickly to give it a rougher sound.
Also, the non-codeable MIZ-24 uses the same exact horn as the MIZ-24-S, but my theory is an explanation of how they sound different.
Normally it would be, but I have duct tape over the horn on the inside, so it's just the right volume. But to answer your question, normally it'd be 87dB...
is the spectralert strobe only?
