  • the legend of zelda skyward sword goddes trail areas scared me 0.0

  • i hate the fing baby music

  • Agh thanks for scaring the piss out of me at 6:55!! I hate The Grudge! Dx

  • What game is at 10:36?

  • Hey, i really like your videos! =] You should find a way to tone them down bit though... sixteen minutes is a long time to watch a top-ten list

  • *shudders* why'd you have to remind me of the valhalla? that place scared the shit out of me, and I just managed to forget about it.

  • Did I hear Chuggaaconroy in the recap of Submerged Castle?

  • i acctually did number 8 lol i was like holy !@#$ wat the $%#@

  • well i dont think dead space was scary in the slightest i have to agree majoras mask had the most shit your self scary moment at the end their & i was 17 when i first played that part

  • XD @ #9 on the recap. "WHOA NO!" Chuggaa FTW! Shame you didn't include his infamous "I JUST HAD TO OPEN MY MOUTH!" voice clip when you showed the Waterwraith appearing. Ah well.

  • BOO!!!

  • like if when you saw pokemon you were thinking lavender town

  • @Dragonmist19X Well the top comment is about just that, I used his scream in the recap and I even mentioned it in the video description. So no, it's not that weird.

  • is it wierd that i know you got the clips for #9 form chuggaaconroys channel

  • "Imagine this, it's 1999, you're 4 years old and you're playing Super Mario 64"... this is why I can never relate to all these Nintendo 64 fans. Add another 10 years and we're getting somewhere. No wonder everyone who makes these kinds of videos love the N64, you where all little kids at the time. Little kids are idiots, they have no taste, I know this because when I was a little kid I liked the 'He-Man and the Masters of the Universe' cartoon. When you're 14... Mario 64 is not impressive.

  • @TornadoCreator you have to admit though...its still a great game and extremely innovative for its time

  • @banjotenie No actually, I don't have to admit that, because it's not true. Super Mario 64 was nothing more than a scavanger hunt game, and a rather boring one at that. Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot both came only few months later in Japan/USA and 6 months EARLIER in Europe, and had better gameplay, better camera, better graphics, and a more defined theme. These games where in development at the same time. Super Mario 64 did NOT inspire them, it created no innovation at all.

  • 6:56 that caught me off-guard

  • Comment removed

  • What's the Half-life level you used inbetween each one?

  • @100espada Ravenholme

  • @Varrisian wrong

  • @100espada anticitizen one.

  • Whats with the thief series? They are very frightening!

  • i enjoyed this countdown, but i can't really understand what makes some of these scary.in particular, your no.1 the moon.i didn't even see my most disturbing level on this list, which is Tourian from Super Metroid.that place is mega scary....or at least it was.i DO understand Valhalla...i felt the same when i entered the place for the first time.i was expecting metroids there...heh.and,i did enjoy Distortion World,i loved that place and the music in it.i guess it is strange, but it didn't get to me

  • Cats from hell.

  • I didn't got the thing about the 4th wall :(

  • @JuanitoJohnes53 The fourth wall is the imaginary wall between the audience and the stage in a play. There's the left and right walls, the back wall, and the imaginary fourth wall. The fourth wall is treated as an actual wall, so the cast can't "break" through the wall and acknowlege the audience. Breaking the fourth wall is doing just that; talking to the audience of a play, the viewers of a show, or the players of a game.

  • @100espada thanks a lot man

but i already knew about the fourth wall hehe

what i didn't got was how did zelda broke it

    Thanks :)

  • *sees whole video* OMG *turns on wii and deletes majoras mask goes to corner and sucks on thumb for few mins*

  • ummmmmm...Ravenholm?

  • Great list! Personally, I found Snowpeak Ruins from Twilight Princess to be somewhat unnerving (or maybe I jut hated the level). Also, if you've ever played Animal Crossing, the song K.K. Dirge makes ANY room in your house scary especially if the lights are out and/or you have creepy furninture like the Halloween or mad scientist stuff.

  • i had nightmares when i was 6 about the skeletons in Hyrule Field in OOT @_@

  • which is more fitting for big boo's haunt: its normal music or the music from shade man's stage in MM7

  • thumbs up if you RELAXED when you herd dead space I did well I better click thumbs up.

  • You shouldn´t have done that O.o

    Damn it!

  • ive never played half-life. what was that thing that disapeared when he looked at

    it in the transition

  • @weskerownsevrything

    Half-Life 2

  • Ah... your the same age as me, or maybe a year younger? Were you 4 when playing Super Mario in 1999? Sorry, just curious.

  • how do you not have the flood levels from halo ce?

  • submered castle earthbound or whatever it was has the same music from zelda oot shadow temple

  • It's pronounced Oh-Kar-mi

  • Comment removed

  • I expected a screamer at the end. I LAUGHED AT THE END OF THE VID!! XD

  • the original lavender town deserves top spot, I reckon. That music...

  • i'm never going to play these games ever again......

  • I have played most of these games. But damn, forgot about Earthbound. And Majora's Mask is definitely number one.

Earthbound creeped me out in a fascinated way. Majora's Mask made me just wanna forget any trace of that game entirely.

  • Is it wrong I actually ENJOYED Giratinas distortion world? 0.o

  • lol I think that was the Nostalgia Critic's scream from his Junior review during the Submerged Castle. :D

  • was that the Nostalgia critic's scream at 03:11?

  • Try looking up pokemon soul silver arceus event. I think that beats out the clip in this vid.

  • anyone else here can recommend a scary game? thats not any of the Amnesia series (penumbra), or the condemned cause their not really scary lol or resident evil or fear i want a survival horror game that really actually scares you.

  • from what game is the part that's used for the #10-1 parts?

  • what is the forth wall? Im really don't understand what it means!

  • @orc9925 The fourth wall is the fictional wall that separates the world of a game or movie and the world of our reality. Think of a theatre stage with three walls: the back, left and right. The audience's perspective is through an invisible fourth wall: The actors act with us viewing them, yet do not notice us. Breaking the fourth wall means that the actors accept the world that exists outside their own: reality.

  • ummm wheres orcarina of time with the zombies and the weird music???

  • super mario 64 scarred me for life... O_O

  • how is ns toy room scary

  • The GFS. Frickin'. Valhalla. THANK YOU.

  • I dare you to play RAGE, get to the Dead City, and stare at the gigantic gut towers without feeling extremely disturbed...and even lonely.

  • Okay guess who's probably not getting any sleep for a week.

  • What was that movie with the tree in it that was referenced at the end?

  • @OmegaSword4 Yeah I should clear that up because I did mumble that bit. It's from a film called 'Knowing'.

  • @rabbidluigi Wait... oh, THAT 'Knowing'. My sister told me about that movie. She said it was quite bad.

  • @rabbidluigi i was on the edge of my seat for the whole countdown... until that final scene in the video. XD it's just like i tell everybody, you can put the heavy in anything and cut the tension into tiny pieces

  • 6:55 i almost crapped myself

  • That load thing gets me every time!

  • The piano scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. I ALWAYS avoided that room whenever I played the game.

  • Did anyone else see 0/02 at 5:33 ?

  • Nintendo's for kids? I think NOT!

  • Comment removed

  • whats the name of the video game on 10:40?

  • what about the spooky chapter in conker´s bad fur day?

it has a really immersive music and you have to go all around the place with zombies and that creepy music AND finding keys.

the zombies in there scared the shit out of me when i was a kid, especialy the one ones that comes around from the corners unexpectly, but that´s not all, A FUCKING SCARY MUSIC PLAYS WHEN THEY HIT YOU, the first time i was atacked by them and that music played, i jumped, seroiusly

  • I HATE WORLD OF DRAWCIA.

    A silent but brutal earrape.

  • SCREW THE 4TH WALL

  • I just realized that the music they used in Heck is used in a bunch of cartoons as well. Ren and Stimpy, for example. I wonder where the song originally came from...

  • For me the most disturbing level in a non horror game is easily the nightmare level in Max Payne.

  • I was actually fooled with the loading animation in the beginning, was anyone else?

  • 10:36 beatles rock band intro?

  • @rabbidluigi

I suggest you look into the Shadow Temple from Ocarina of Time. It contains a disturbing atmosphere for a children's video game and has a disturbing enemy (Dead Hand). I am sensing you already knew, but decided not to put it here. Also, Thief: The Dark Project is another contender, partly due to the fact that you steal from a house that is guarded by spirits. All in all, a nice video to watch.

  • So i'm not the only one who finds the moon super disturbing!

  • 13:46 I can now see a chuggaaconroy cry for help there. Maybe there was one in 3:05

  • 3:05 I was Expecting you to put Chuggaaconroy's freak out for that spot. Ah Well, at least the scream still sums it up anyway.

  • OH MAN! THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING DISTORSION WORLD OVER LAVENDER TOWN! :D I THINK THAT WAS SO EPIC

  • @Frostare do you have tf2

  • who heard chuggaaconroy at the submerged castle

  • @Bayonettaxfan He just had to open his mouth

  • @Bayonettaxfan if u look at 2:42 it looks like he got some footage from chuggaaconroy

  • me watching vid " hmm i need to pee i will wait" 5min later " should i go frick that *runs out of room*

  • 4. You can say it's non-horror, but it's arguably is... O.o

  • @MrFill11

ive got Ocarina of Time but i have not seen the fountain with blood in it

    Where is it?

  • @rabbidluigi I'm not scared of giygas

  • MegaMan Legends has very weird music and monsters!

  • Comment removed

  • @Darklion793 I was just going to say that....

  • RUN!! RUN!! I´M COMING FOR YOU!! HAHAHA that part had me laughing so hard...

  • in the distortion world (idk if im the first to say this) thats the freaking gigyssess boss music :(time tio shit brocks)

  • The moon in Majora's Mask has such a scary face. Jeez.

  • CHUGGAACONROY CAMEO!!!!

  • Yay! Medic cameo. Hello Medic!

  • The part from Half-Life between each clip was very fitting. Bruoght a perfect mood.

  • Majora's Mask was such an incredible game. I felt that Skyward Sword, while really a top-notch experience lacked that disturbing uncertainty of MM and OoT.

  • I absolutely knew the Cave of the Past from EarthBound was gonna be on here.

All I can say is "Thank God I didn't have this game as a little kid."

  • If blood makes things disturbing, based on your logic, your whole body is filled with disturbing things x_x

  • @Ryanlauph You could say that about most animals, really.

  • @Ryanlauph That's the reason I'm terrified of Trauma Team and Trauma Center for the Wii.

  • Am I right in saying that you got the EarthBound stuff from Chuggaaconroy's Let's Play?

Sorry if I'm mistaken; it's just that I feel like I've seen that before.

  • Comment removed

  • The cave of the past still haunts me... even the half-cheery trumpets before you go back in time freaks you out a little, and then this desolate place in the past... god, it's dreary...

  • Not I meant

  • I'm I the only one that is mot scared of gigas

  • @gamercase1 No, you're the only one who's just blocking the disturbingness.

  • chuggaaconroy

  • Scariest game of my life:Wind Waker because those little friggin guys sneak up on me!

  • Dude, you have a great voice. :D

  • 00:30 you scared the shit out of me

  • 6:55 scared the shit outta me!

  • I can't read the red text n your video

  • Comment removed

  • I knew Majora's Mask was going to be ranked #1, for several reasons. But I thought you were going choose it because of LInk's Song of Emptyness statue. XD

  • Is the thumbnail from Alice madness returns?

  • Once you mentioned Pikmin 2 I instantly knew that you would mention submerged castle! That place KILLS me!

  • You didn't show Giygas when the background goes nuts and how it looks like a fetus, or the level in Dragon Quest VIII where the area and the monsters are shadow-like.

  • not sure about the epic mickey one, but great list

  • @TheUltimateZeal0t Yeah haven't played so therefore not a chance. Sorry!

  • @rabbidluigi dammit :'(

  • You atempt to get the fuck out with the elevator you used but it collapses and Lament for Pvt Jenkins plays again. You take another route but leads down to a blood stained shaft filled with more flood. eventually you get out but you then get sent to the library

  • you should have included the level 343 Guilty Spark from Halo CE since it introduces you to the flood. okay, it starts off with grunts and jackals running away pissing themselves as you land. There is a distress beacon goin on. an unknown explosion goes off. unusual gunfire comin from an A shaped building. a bloody mess of corpses. A panicked Marine shooting every moving thing. than the fate of Fireteam charlie and the flood is revealed.

  • I just spent the last minute refreshing the page cause I thought the video wasn't loading....I'm really impatient Oo

  • I would of liked to see Revenholm from Half Life 2. That place disturbed the hell outta me when I first played it. But good list nonetheless.

  • finaly someone who likes epic mickey :3

  • (silence) boo. (screams)

  • i love how you used Chuggaaconroy shitting his pants about the waterwraith

  • Yet i agree with this list . . .never actually comapred Metroid Prime 3 with Dead space though . . . Got to admit though its the same feeling both the games give me.

  • Woah, never though of the moon like that... Oh, and I disagree with the piano in Mario. Mimi's neck-break, head-spin, spider-transformation in Super Paper Mario was WAY creepier...

  • 0:32 what game

  • .(cont)1. This will always be the darkest Zelda game, if not the darkest Nintendo game. That damn moon staring at you, Majora in general. Heck the only thing that keeps this level not being to disterbing is the Fierce Destiy Mask and that you can destroy Majora with it.

    Nice countdown BTW.

  • @darkwee009 Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem. That is all.

  • @hockeater Oh yeah, THAT game. Never before has a game managed to make you go "WTF" until Batman: Arkham Asylum.

  • @darkwee009 Eternal darkness did it first with you the player being targeted by all kinds of developer crafted mind screw.

  • @hockeater Indeed. It's funny how a NINTENDO listenced game can be so disterebing.

Then again this is the same company that has a childlike demonic mask, a creepy being of pure evil, and a giant bleeding eyeball.

  • 7 (cont) Drawica made a pact with Zero (yes THAT Zero, bleeding eye himself) to gain her power. Once she was defeated, Zero took over and made her into...that thing. And why does World of Drawica remind me of Silent Hill?

    6. I can see why people hate this level...

    5. Anyone but me notice that Pokemon started to get really dark these days? This level proves it.

    4. Dead Space 1.0

    3. The screams in the background make this level unnerving.

    2. Giygas, when HONF takes a form.

  • Man, the beginning was really good, kinda reminded me of the 3rd Scarecrow level from Arkham Asylum.

    10. I was expecting The Clocktower, but yeah, this level was creepy. It doesn't help that you can see the remains of Oswald's children scattered around (the blue paint blotches).

    9. Paranoia in a NIntendo game, why am I not surprised?

    8. Let the childhood trama begin! (damn that piano!)

    7. Ya wanna know something really scary? (cont. on next post)

  • I think the distortion world music is peaceful!

  • And whats with the Fotain from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time ?

Come on there is blood EVERYWHERE !

  • @MrFill11 You don't need blood for something to be disturbing...

  • @rabbidluigi

That's true. If anything, lack of blood can be more disturbing. For example, getting punctured on your hand, but no blood coming out. An actor has said that happened to him, though I don't recall who. Still, that's a good example of a lack of blood being disturbing.

  • @rabbidluigi You know....when you mentioned in Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask how the kids would ask you the "questions", i decided to bring out my N64 and i just so happen to a save file when i was at those parts of the game. And when they asked me all the questions i thought to myself REAL hard about them....they were soooo....right? But the one where it said "If you do the right thing....Does it really make...everybody....happy?", it sounds like a hidden message or something... :(

  • @rabbidluigi if so he would have replace world of drawcia with zero 1

  • @rabbidluigi Certanly helps though....

  • ah i hated that sunken ship.. but you left out one last scary part.. when you have to run from the water dragon!

  • The Background turned into a GYGAS!!!!

  • you know you can actually kill the waterwraith

  • for that paino

    NCS: SWEET MERCIFUL BATMAN

  • Hmm. Well. I have agreements and disagreements, but 'tis expected, and it's purely opinion anyway.

Valhalla... oh God does this belong on the list. Couldn't agree with you more with that.

My only real disagreement is Planet Heck. Primarily because... well, that's Earthworm Jim for you. It's intended to be like that. I just can't really call it disturbing because of the "elevator music", evil lawyers and killer snowman. Too much to take it serious. Heh. I actually find that level hilarious.

  • left 4 dead 2's sugar mill, the constant witch crying.............*shudder*

  • 10. wow

    9. Yikes

    8. I still found the Palace of Shadow to be creepier

    7. YEAH

    6. Sounds creepy from what I hear

    5. creepy...

    4. Wait, how were you able to get the screen cap of the title of your video before it was uploaded? And I still find Phaaze more disturbing. But even so, this level is indeed disturbing

    3. When you said an entire game, I thought of Earthworm Jim.

    2. Scary from what I hear

    1. YEAH

  • Not too complain, but... have you ever played Jet Force Gemini? Tawfret and the Space Station are pretty... scary.

  • Man, gotta love the ghost ship in Okami and the G.F.S. Valhalla...My heart dropped so far when I found out I NEEDED to go to the Valhalla...

And I for one think that the Reaper from Persona 3 could of worked. Just hearing those chains going through that infernal place...

  • We dont go to ravenholm would be a good one to, because half life 2 ist a horror game :P

  • Huh. I'm quite surprised by the lack of the final Scarecrow segment in Arkham Asylum.

  • man how could you forget about dead hands from ocarina of time and beneath the well level from it THOSE made me not want to play my nintendo anymore awesome game heck it even taught me how to read but there was SO many creepy things that i don't realise until now and now that i do i wonder how the crap were they ever put in there but still i wouldn't change em for the fact of the game was awesome

  • I find it odd to notice that the theme music for Planet Heck on that game has the same theme as the one from Fantasia: Night on Bald Mountain... Didn't see that one coming...

  • @darklion793 in elevator music form! and tortured screams...

  • Fun Fact: Planet Heck sounds like Night on Bald Mountain from Disney's Fantasia. Watch it, and hear the eerie similarities...and be glad Planet Heck doesn't have a Chernabog-like creature...

  • how can number one NOT be something from Majora's mask?

  • @tvbrodcastformorons very true

  • Is my impression or most of those are Nintendo games??Yeah Nintendo is for kids my ass

  • I WIN!

I've played all of these levels and beaten them. I can't say that much for some of the other countdowns I've seen. (envies all owners of Arkham Asylum)

  • Oh that end made me laugh.

    The moon...nice choice mah boi.
