@Bruce73X Thank you for your answer ;) ! But if i buy it, does it (DC Alimentation) will with the Blofeld ? I mean, does it will with the blofeld package or i have to buy it separately ?
@aazrtdfg Sorry for the late answer. If I understand you right, you want to know if the power supply comes with the Blofeld? The answer to this is: Yes!
Hi, im am strongly conicdering a blofeld since i can get it at 200, but my only concern is it programabillity.... Can u only edit presets or can u idit the preset and programm a sound from scratch? ( adding oscs, runnin it through a filter, assinging filter enveleopes etc) The auction is running out soon, so please, if anyone could enlighten me, please do :)
@C4553L The Blofeld is basically a standard polyphonic subtractive synthesizer like the Access Virus, the Clavia Nordlead ... so you can fully edit and program sounds with it. For example you have three multiple waceform oscillators which you can use and mix and route through the two multimode-filters the way you want. Also you have envelopes, lfos, effects, a modulation matrix, ... Compared to other "standard subtractive synthesizer" (as mentioned above) it is a quite versatile synth.
Hey there i just purchased a blofeld myself and i an using logic pro 9. I have my midi hooked up to my sound card and stereo out plugging in to my sound card as well. My problem is that once in logic making an external midi and then an audio track set to channels 1 and 2 ( the channels my blofeld are in) i still cannot hear anything from my blofeld yet everytime i hit a key on my midi keyboard the midi light on my blofeld flashes. Also "I" on audio is selected so idk. Any ideas?
@brandontripz I never used Logic (onyl Cubase and Ableton) so I can't really help you. Maybe you have to activate an option like "monitoring" for the audio-channel the Blofeld is in ...
@brandontripz command + 8 and go to enviroment, try to create a new external midi channel and assign ur midi outs into ur new channel, i have some problems with my blofeld doesnt let me to hear multi tracks , when i changed the sound of second channel for recording new region, the sound of first channel is changing too, does anybody can help me about this issue ?? i really need a help, thanks
@maccagrabme I have both and for my ears - when it is about their pure soundquality - both are good for bass. The advantage of the Blofeld: More versatile. Advantage of the Pulse: Cheaper. When I had to choose between them and I could only have one synthesizer I would take the Blofeld (because of the versatility).
@maccagrabme the pulse is a guitar slayer like a minimoog. it has a very hot output (the manual even warns about it), nothing about ideas if fatness, just fact. the blofeld has a much less hot output. I agree that the blofeld is much more versatile and I missed using it after a while (after I got fed up with the encoders being so bad - until that is i performed a fix (which you can see in my videos)). pulse: powerful and dark and monophonic. Blofeld: metalic edge, but can be anything you want.
Anyhow, it's good idea to bring Blofeld's bass department to peoples ears.. most official demos as well youtube videos are filled with beautiful pads and arps, but as this have synthesis power of Microwaves and Q's i know that this should be capable to do some very nasty sounds aswell. And good bass for anything. Like Acid House. =P
wow! a beautiful machine! exist some soft synth with the quality and power like blofeld? or definitive HARDWARE is the real thing to make professional music?
@remixerone I guess, yes there are some soft synths which have the same abilities and sound also very good. But as I don't use soft synths anymore I can't give you a good advise, maybe NI Massive or ther Largo Software could be nice ... :)
what do you use to program the notes into a desktop synth like this? Does it have a built in sequencer or would I need an external sequencer? Would an MPC work as a sequencer and still be able to play samples on the MPC while it sends midi information to the blofeld? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for your time.
@reaper7695 No, the Blofeld does not have a built in sequencer. I use Ableton, Cubase or the x0xb0x to sequence the Blo. Yes, an MPC would work as a sequencer for the Blo and yes the MPC will be able to play samples the same time. ... have fun! :)
@Bruce73X Thank you very much. I am very interested in bulding an electronics rig to make electro/dnb style songs. I am considering an MPC 500 as main sequencer, along with being my sampler and drum machine. Using the blofeld, seqeunced by the MPC, as my main workhorse synth. Using a microkorg to solo and play keyboard leads. And using a Kaoss pas for effects. I'm pretty excited to put all that together and make some cool songs.
Nice little machine but from listening to demos on YT it sound bit lifeless like a plugins to me. Personal opinion off course, I'm not interested to argue about it with some dickhead.
@garagecrap I also think the sound of the blo is far away from a - good - plugin, but its not lifeless (in my ears). Compared to a plugin (with the same sound quality, # of oscs, lfos, envs and mod. possibilities) you simply have the advantages to save cpu power, you can use it with any computer (Windows PC, Mac OS) and standalone with any midi-hardware + the nice user interface and display ... the classic advantages of "virtual analog" synths - so everyone must decide for themself ... :)
@Bruce73X maybe I'd Eq it to my liking I don't know and don't have one but one thing I certanly agreee that it's stand alone and nothing beats "hand on" gear. So even if it does sound like a plugin (to my ears) it;s still far better than any plugin to use. I fin't my self using some hardware that's not near as good as plugin only so I can tweak it with hands :-)
It really doesn't matter what the internal sounds or presets 'sound like' - it's 'how' you program, tweak, structure, etc, etc - as how to come up with really good sounds. but if you're just another one of those people who just use and rely on factory presets & whatnots to make your songs with - then you're not that much of a 'real artist' to me anyway. Learn to be creative, forget about the internal presets on ANY machine, and come up with some original material (geez)
@Vipmaxp: It was because I had bad encoder but now I replaced them (Waldorf Support sent me some new) and its much better! I still love this little synth ... versatile and great sounding!
Hey! I can not really tell you. All I can say is, that the Blofeld is very versatile. But Erasure and Depeche Mode used so much gear over the years - i guess you can't reach all aspects of this style with one synthesizer ... my opinion: think about what of this sound you exactly like. Maybe this is not depending on a special synthesizer ... :)
I guess it is not bad as "first synth". Maybe something but with more controls could be great too, but as you can see everything on the this should help learning synthesizers.
It you do buy this as your first synth, you should look into the BCR2000 ($150). MIDI controller with 30+ knobs to control a fair amount of the controls. Eases a bit of the menu diving.
@ajdevlin A good idea but i already got a novation zero sl mk2. i can make template's for my controller. it also has templates for the acces virus ti .. but first i gonne buy a blofed sounds so nice warm en fat !!!!
@ajdevlin A good idea but i already got a novation zero sl mk2. i can make template's for my controller. it also has templates for the acces virus ti .. but first i gonne buy a blofed sounds so nice warm en fat !!!!
This synth is so cool. I have this and a Korg Radias and if it wasn't for the fact that the radias has knobs for everything i would probably use the blofeld as my go to synth. The display and menus on this synth rocks compared to all other synths I've used. This is actually the perfect synth to learn synthesis with because everything is so visual and self explanatory. Seeing envelopes and stuff change in realtime on the display is just brilliant.
The BloFeld seems a lot more solid than the Pluginator. I like the steel chasis. and the way it is set up seems alot more organised than the Pluginator, possibly the integrity of the of the Pluginator's sound design is also lacking compared to the Blofeld.

^Yes, that is funny, because I actually don't know! :D I just set the bpm in the arp-section of the Blofeld. But if I send - as I guess it should be - Midi-Clock from Cubase (the daw in my case) to the Blofeld, the Synth starts to bump and crackle, also the Display gets in trouble. - This is a bug of the Blofeld in my opinion.

anyway for me still be a no brainer for the (EU) price..very deep synthesis capabilities..maybe the D/A converter would have been better..sometimes it sounds a bit "unfocused" to me..but still..lot of fun with mine :)
