@hlimkb Uhm... Conventional warfare, when we look at history, almost every country could easily match Japan, and still can. The Russians were no match, neither were the Chinese in the 1st Sino-Japanese war. But the British or the Germans would have rolled them in the late 1800s. And the battles of the Pacific were all fought conventionally and Japan lost, clearly. Courage is no replacement for superior tactical and strategical thinking and superior logistics and production.

@hlimkb As for the Japanese sophistication in conventional warfare... there is NOTHING sophisticated in the Tokkôtai or in "gyokusai (玉砕)". Nothing. Nothing sophistitaced in handing out hand grenades to schoolgirls (like it was done on Okinawa.) Just a useless waste of life. The Tokkô almost wiped out the intellectual elite of the country. The entire military doctrine of Japan, from the Meiji Restoration up to the end of WW2 was utterly insane.

the white were so demoralised even though they had sufficient numbers/arms in the initial phase,
