I've had your Asia Series 2-11 races on my favs for ages - great videos - now I have seen the USA ones as well - cool. My wife and I are about to take our Race Licences in the UK - so hopefully will be racing in Uk next year - alas we cannot afford to race a Lotus - so we are probably going to be racing an old Toyota MR2 Mk1 - cheap and cheerful and not so bad if you stack it!
Waow! Gorgeous Car! I wouldn't even know where to buy a lotus. BTW, its just me, but I find comedy on how you drive on the right side. It just looks so silly!
That's correct - we drive on the "right" side - everyone else drives on the "wrong" side hehe!! You can buy Lotus in North America - a lot are exported there.
Ahaha, Me?! A lotus? Lol! I might as well get a Ferrari while I'm at it! I flipped when I saw a Bentley drive by the other day, but, their all english. I'll survive with my Pontiac Aztek! lol! Do they have those in england?
fun editing. cool car: i can't afford a new one but there are a few used ones coming on the market for half the price. and being a toy (or at least, very spartan) most have low, low, miles, so lot's of joy left in them for us poor boys =)
Thank you for the nice comments - this car was written off as below - and we have a new one. They have increased in price a lot - the one in the video was £24000 new - our present one was £27050 (thank you GAP insurance!) and now they are about £1500 more - making them even less attractive. I think S/H is certainly the way to go - especially with low miles (though ours gets used everyday!!). I would try and get a Toyota engined one if possible - it just seems to be a stronger unit for the car.
Hi - These drive extremely well - no PAS so masses of feedback from steering -which is sharp, extrememly accurate and it has excellent turn in character (touch of understeer "designed in").
As a RWD is has "normal" oversteer characteristics but is really predictable and easy to deal with.
Being lightweight is has excellent, balanced braking performance.
This is an "S" so lowest power model - it has the Toyota 1.8l out of a Corolla but "tweaked" by Lotus - 134BHP - 0-60 5.8 secs.
Still cheaper than in Portugal...The R version costs here 64.000Euros new. I dont care about the steering being on the "right side" lol I might go to the UK just to get a 4 year old used one!
wow! how many takes did you do of the last bit. those keys & sunglasses landed prefectly. especially the sunglasses, it even bounced, spun around & still rested prefectly. impressive!
Hi Mach88888 - Thanks for the nice comments - always appreciated! Overall - shot in a weekend and I spent abotu 7 days editing. As for the last shot it was done in one take! The secret is that the glasses and key dropping into shot are NOT the ones my wife had. She simply walked past the camera holding "her" set and I dropped a spare set of keys and a cheap pair of lookalike glasses into shot from about 6 inches above camera - easy but effective - the bounce was simply lucky!
Actually - keeping her out is the problem!!! - she loves the car and loves driving it. Sadly she wrote it off in Jan this year (not her fault) and luckily she walked away bruised and battered but otherwise unhurt. Fortunately we have GAP insurance (recommended - but buy off 'net not at garage! much cheaper) so we are getting an 08 model on March 1st. Will do a new vid when we have that. What model Elise do you have? Do you let the other half drive it - that is the trick I reckon!
SC would be really nice (we couldn't afford one). Luckily Nina and I have done a fair bit of track work so she is a very confident and quick driver (better than me!). Could recommend your wife does something similar perhaps - she would enjoy it an learn loads(suggest Exige Experience at Silverstone or Lotus "Scare Yourself Sensible" at Hethel. Both around £99) We also did Lotus "driver training" - expensive but worthwhile. We get a lot more out of car having done them.
Sure you'd get more from the car if you did - I would recommend Lotus Driver Training (expensive at £499) but it is a whole day covering understeer/oversteer, race lines, braking, looking ahead etc - then an afternoon on the track. This is the course that changed our driving style and how we see adn drive our Lotus. Shame abotu Diane though - Nina satrted off similarly - but now her dream is to get a Class B race Licence!!
i was in one a month ago tons of fun

Excellent! How did you train your wife to get in and out of the Elise in a skirt. My wife moans when she's wearing jeans!

We've got a 111R, but my wife drives it like a pussy cat and only when she has to. I doubt she's ever had it over 5000rpm.
I test-drove the Elise SC last week. Very nice! As soon as I can sell the 111R, I'll be looking at one of those.

I've looked at these courses and if it wasn't for the fact I live on the Isle of Man I'd go tomorrow. No chance of getting Diane on one though.
I've got a track day on Saturday, but it's nothing like you get in the UK (disused airfield).
It's tuition from an expert I lack. Maybe I just need to take a couple of days out and go for it.

Try Tesco or Sainsburys for insurance (mine was Tesco) though age may be an issue. I'm 42 and wife is 33.
Chirpycat 4 years ago
Tried quite a few , its the car and the age being an issue.
I will just have to hold tight for a while!
