lesli, here is a funny story. I am part of the80's preservation and restoration society. my profession is education and my hobby is fashion design. my designs are all based on 80's fashion and top designers are showing interest. I have 85 designs and if they are picked then in wo years time 80's fashion will be back in style.
Yeah, 80's fashion is getting popular again...but like you said, its just not here yet. I hope it comes back full blown too. :( I'm a 14 year old STUCK in the 80's. :P People at my school are actually starting to dress 80's, though. I suppose that's good. I used to be the only one. :)
You are definitely right. It is pretty fun being the only one dressing like that. :) But I've been reading a lot about NY Fashion week and how A LOT of things are 80's inspired. I looked at Marc Jacobs Fall '09 Collection video, and I was just wow. :P And I'm starting to see a lot of people sporting the big hair look recently. This is getting really interesting...we'll see what happens throughout the year.
if only i could beleive time travel could happen it could give me some hope.the pardox i'm afraid will never be solved. like in back to the future he couldn't go back in time and break his parents up cause if he broke them up he wouldn't have been able to go back in time to break them up.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love it! Ive been told sometimes that I look like I was born in the wrong decade. you and I should rent a timemachine and go to the 80's!
I hate those new low-cut muffin-top showin', flared out low-riders, too! They're horrible! I like jeans that have a NORMAL waistline! You are right! They make normal people like myself look "fat" or rather, unflattering. Also, I like jeans to taper at the ankle. I have nice little ankles, and bell-bottoms do NOTHING to flatter them! UGGGGLY! I'm not saying bring back the 80's, though, cause acid-washed jeans and frizzy perms are horrid. Some 80's stuff were cool, though. :)
Haha- stone-washed- hadn't heard that for awhile! We have distressed material now: pants that come brand new, with rips, holes, and bare spots, about to become holes, lol
the 80's did that too.i have one pair of shorts and a pair of jeans my grandma through a fit when i cut them up and the sad part is i still have them. oh and a shirt also.
this is a gr8 vid girl im loving your hair! i dress like the 80's madonna everyday :P i think the 80s were the best time for style. the only problem about dressing 80s is that. you have alot of people on your back making fun of you and shit (rolls eyes)
you dress posh ? i always liked the i guess the don johson look. but i like the posh with casual like the jacket with jeans or the slacks (don't know what they r called thats what i call them)with a t shirt. on the cover of the movie tuff turf i always wanted the red skirt.you'd think it would have been easy to find.
In Most big cities (i.e Atlanta,NYC,Miami,Chicago,LA)
I promise you 80's fashion is in full swing. Especially among the females. Go to the mall and visit stores like Urban outfitters, Wet seal, forever21,etc it's nothing but 80s fashion think about it leggings,vans,legwarmers,off-shoulder,costume jewelry, print tees, etc. are all making huge comebacks
thanks for letting me know i hardly ever goto the mall. I'll have to see if the fashion's caught on here yet.i was just thinking yesterday if the 80's do come back would leg warmers come with. breif thought but it passed my mind nonetheless.Would i be pushing it to much to hope that 80's punk will follow?
lol you must not live in a big city...In Atlanta and NYC 80-ish punks are around, in Atlanta's L5P area & Manhattan in NYC. I went to high school with a few of them. the 80s are back baby!!!
in a city nope i live a few miles from a very small town. u said around not everywhere i would be lucky to see 10 people look somewhat punk if it was everywhere.
I like you alot. I agree with every single word...no LETTER that came out of your mouth.
This young generation is pretty stupid with those jeans. I'm wearing high waisted straight leg jeans right now! And I wear 80s jean jackets, and high top shoes AND YES! I even have the half-tops! I have three or four of them. I'm 21 but God the 80s were the best thing EVER!
well said. basically all the new electro-wave music is rooted from the 80s. there's a reason it dominates the dance clubs again. this is because stuff like emo and shit-hop became stale.
I am alos a huge 80's fan. I used to live in this bar called Spit , in Orlando Fl when going to college at UCF.I was in to ska and the sak look I too hated the 70's it was the white trash deacade so was the 90's
to be honest i can listen to most any type of music if im in the mood for it. o yeah their is one type of music that i will not listen to for any reason YOKO ONO..
i listen to all types of music from classical to rap. i'm very picky though. not up with new music don't listen to the radio. i've discovered some new music i like through youtube. and see i knew there was at least one thing u didn't like.
I feel ya on the hair thing. I dyed my hair black once. It looked bad fading out, so I had to get a pro to fix it. Sorry, I can't agree on the jeans thing. There is nothing worse than high waisted tapered legged jeans. EEK! I like the 80's rocker glam thing. I liked the 50's/60's revival look. I would have joined in, if it wasn't just a fly by night fad :>
11 months later, i reply, i suck at comments. so maybe i was waiting for something brilliant to pop into my head and well as you cane see nothing brilliants coming. i use to dye my hair red liked it when it faded. now the red is so strong it stays without fading.i love the 50's ponytail and poodle skirts.
you think it looks cool, yea. maybe thats why i can't remember the 90's because there wasn't anything worth remembering. Sence at least the 50's most people wear jeans and t shirts here, or their sunday best.
For me the early 90's is characterized by women who were shedding the long dresses of the late 80's and going for the anti-pretty aesthetic with canvas side-bags and tank tops and boots or skater sneakers. I don't know what the guys were wearing, I was just wearing jeans and t-shirts all the time. Can't remember the late 90's...I can't think of a defining style.
Personally I think your hair looks great...J.

the 80s are all about brittish and european dudes making synth music. that's what dominated the 80s. the biggest records were all synth oriented.
the styles were very posh and sexy for the girls.

I love a lot of 80s fashion, bands, hair styles, ect. One thing I didn't like were those huge glasses though.
