I am reading book right now and don't want to watch movie yet. Usually movies are not as good as books cuz they don't have an important component - your imagination... so, I am back to my book and back to crying again...
omigosh. I just found out about this! thanks to google and THANKS TO YOU FOR UPLOADING!! You have no idea how much this would make my mom happy :) Zoya's her favorite novel and she (we) didn't know there was a film adaptation. Thank you so much :)
@HouseOnSunset Well, the film is from the point of view of a young girl who was fortunate enough to be born into a wealthy family during those times, and no doubt very sheltered, so it's hardly a surprise she would look back on those times with a romanticized viewpoint.
@lisarta Hi! I'm sorry, I was lucky when i found this version. I can't find an spanish dub yet, so even less an italian version. But i hope you can get what you're looking for ;)
@lisarta My dear, you miss Russia that doesn't exist anymore. They spitted all good Russia had and adopted the worst of the West instead of taking best from the West to make Russia better and stronger. It's another failure after the Red Revolution. It's sad... :(
Thanks for uploading! I always watched this whenever it came on Lifetime. You know, I don't have a problem with Gilbert's looks. No one is ever going to be as super beautiful as characters are often described in books. What does bother me is that Gilbert's was like 31. Not only was Zoya 17/18 in the early parts, but Gilbert lacks the delicacy and girlishness required for the part. There are some older actors who can pass as teenages, but Gilbert here does not. If she were tinier in build...
They choose actors for their acting ability not looks, jeez get over yourselves, I've read the book, and I do enjoy the movie, you'll find when they turn a book into a movie they do leave parts out, or they change parts of it.
Melissa Gilbert is one of my fav actresses, seen a good few movies of hers, I really enjoyed watching Melissa in this movie, thanks for upload :)
I don't really have that strong an opinion on the book, the film or the actress, but I think many of the people below should think about what they write. The woman is a human being, and she really doesn't deserve to have people syaing she's not pretty enough to live up to their personal interpretation of a fictional character. It's unkind and unfair.
the book was just great.. the movie hasnt done justice to the character of zoya or to anybody else.. :( i really love the book.. n i agree vd missselleocampo.. wish they vd remake this movie vd right characters n beautiful zoya . . the first book that enchanted me
i love the story of zoya..but i think reading the book was much better than watching the movie..no offense to the movie..its just that there are a lot of important scenes on the book that were not here..i wish there will be a remake to this movie..maybe a higher budget film,'cause the story was really good..one of the best of danielle steel
@missselleocampo You are correct in saying so many elements of the book were left out. And really, Melissa Gilbert as Zoya. Nothing against Ms. Gilbert but she was no Zoya in my mind. She was suppose to be beyond beautiful. As for the book, I hold up very close to Gone With The Wind. Not quite that high, but close. Please if they ever do remake it, please put a new beautiful face out there for us, some to make Zoya proud.
she has good hair, but not suitable for playing Zoya I think, at all. In the book she is a beauty and this actress.. anyway, thank for uploading the film.
this has been my all time favorite novel... im so grateful you uploaded this but i must say that the actress does not give justice to the character of zoya as DS have described in the book. and neither is her hair and her very young face. shes just too old and too rough for the role.
Muchas gracias por subirla, empezare a verla ahora mismo!!!!!!
De casualidad, sabes si en alguna parte hay colgadas las peliculas basadas en las novelas de Catherine Cookson?, las veia en Hallmark Channel pero las quitaron..
Thank you SO much for posting this...my favorite Danielle Steel book & movie!

...For the obscenely wealthy. :(

@emlodik Communist Russia wasn't exactly the Garden of Eden for the poor either.
Karenjadegirl 7 months ago
@Karenjadegirl I never said it was, I'm just pointing that this romanticized view of Russia during the monarchy is just as silly.

the movie omitted all the emotions of the book that i loved so much...
the greatness of clayton, his true love, the grieving of zoya was nowhere in the scenes of this movie..
the ideal personality of clayton was eaten up!
every word in the novel was a sea of emotions.. & this movie didnt do justice to this great piece of art by steel...

wow this is sad Melissa quite old already playing a young countess, would be better with the actress who play Maria
