Although women, blacks, and others have human DNA, that had nothing to do with the extension of civil rights to African Americans at the beginning of the twentieth century or to women in the 1920s. Indeed, I'd be surprised if DNA-based arguments were ever used in civil rights arguments. Moreover, the current concern among civil rights advocates is that DNA-data can be used to deprive people of certain rights ... So we're moving back to square one.
Proposition: the statement "an individual's life begins at conception" implies that the value of life is zero.
Lemma 1: all individuals have the same value of life x.
pf. Assume that upon conception, every zygote has value x. Now consider three zygotes, each with value x. The first undergoes mitosis before implantation, resulting in twins with values a, b | a + b = x. The other two fuse into a tetragametic chimera with value 2x. By Lemma 1, each of these scenarios imply 2x = x, thus x = 0
That is just a more concrete reason why a mother should guard that baby. That child is moving towards life. How can the last line of defense (the mother) deny the baby life?! Thank God I was born into a Pro-life family!
are you saying every female pro lifer is sexist? I beg to differ. I think more people should help women in crisis pregnancies to make the right choice rather than pressure them into abortion. After all, being pro-CHOICE means they should be given the option to choose life, should they not? Abortion will never make the past go away, and it's wrong to tell them that it will. I'm pro-life, and I want to help these women... do I sound anti-woman to you?
Being pro life is not anti-woman learn from history. Susan B. Anthony was pro-life. So was Elizabeth Cady Station who was the founder of the feminist movement. She fought to get the first anti-abortion laws on the books. She said that woman cannot fight for the right not to be treated as properity then turn around and treat her children as property. Half the abortions performed in this country are on unborn girls, and most of the abortions performed in the world are on undesirable, unborn girls.
well this stupid amendment failed to pass (not that it even had a slight chance of passing) so now camediarc go back to your hole and stay there you slime sub human piece of garbage.
I love how you can not debate with logic you have to resort to name calling. It took William Wilberforce over twenty years to abolish slavery. Personhood is not going away. Next election you will see us in 17 different states. If we lose those we will try again just like William Wilberforce we will win one day just like the great british politican who abolished slavery.
come on lippy. you didnt give one piece of logic on why this amendment would do great for the constitution. all you do is say that your CULT is going to come back even stronger. get bent you fucking hippy. this shit is not going to pass. YAY ABORTION YAY PRO CHOICE
So, since more people agree with it, does it make it moral? That would apply to early racism, women not being able to vote, and the earth being flat. The failure of this amendment passing is a tragedy.
So how would you feel if you were the rape baby.. how would you feel knowing that? Or lets say you or your wife gets pregnant and the fetus would kill you or her because something is wrong? This amendment should not even be considered. Granted, yes, they have their own set of DNA. But a fertilized egg does not have a brain yet. The definition of a LIVING human being should be someone who can think, act, and move. A fetus can't do any of those. That is why it is called a fetus in the first place.
Who wants to be lied to? Everyone wants truth, am I wrong?
I have heard beautiful stories about mothers willing to die rather than aborting her child. Are they really just crazy or do they know something that people are ignorant about?
You say the definition of a living human is someone who can think act and move? What about handicapped in wheelchairs or wounded soldiers in comas? They can't think or move... Humans? Some people don't consider blacks human. Is it a matter of feeling or fact?
Calling the unborn an egg is an extremely under-pondered opinion, and is ignoring facts.
How does that argument of a human being having thought hold up against those who are in a coma? Are they human? Or do you take back what you said?
Blacks given the right to vote wasn't something that caused lives to be destroyed. Abortion is. You can call it a "right" all you want, but I see it as accepting a murderer's right to kill. When you reply please respond to every point I make and not just one.
no thank YOU selene. For a second there i was beginning to doubt that their was intelligent people out there. i voted a nice thick NO on this amendment!
If you want to bring blacks into this, Fine. Taking the choice away from woman would be like taking the right to vote away from blacks. This is WRONG.
I will be voting no on this sorry excuse for an amendment. Banning birth control? no abortion in cases of rape or incest? you people must be joking. Give me a FUCKING break.
Excellent video! I agree with previous posters - no one should infringe on the rights of unborn babies. We all have a right to live, and NO WOMAN has the right to kill another person. This video is great.
yes, women got equal rights, and now you want to take away our right to choose whether to continue a pregnancy. you give the fetus rights but take away the mothers? where's the fairness in that?
The whole reason why human beings have sex is to reproduce. And the moment a woman engages in intercourse, she is choosing, will and mind, to conceive a child. She is choosing to bring a living person into this world (no matter what). For a woman to deny the fetus the right to live is to deny any human being the right to live.
In those cases, does it change ANYTHING about how the unborn is growing and changing? All argument applies. He/She still has human DNA and is a living person.
Beautiful video !!

can a fetus live with out the mothers body... no it cant. So therefore the baby is not yet a human being. PRO LIFE IS ANTI WOMAN, simple as that.

dude, you cant infringe on another persons rights. its not your right to choose whether the baby lives or dies because the baby has a right to live.
