He seems to be shooting from the back of a pickup truck. The tailgate does problably reflect the supersonic crack, of the bullet, away from the microphone.

But if you are using supersonic ammunition the firearm will be loud regardless if you are using a "silencer" or not. Most animals are color blind or see within a limited color range. The pattern prevents the animal from making out a distinct shape. Deer, hogs, and many other hunted animals use scent as opposed to vision as a primary defense against predators.

@9x19mmProductions silencers/suppressors that are used in high power rifles do not completely remove all sound, they do muffle the explosion of the powder though and this is sufficient to mask the location of the shooter at long range - which is all you really need. (they also make it easy on the ears for the shooter!)

They must be legal in your state. They sign on your application. Then, yous end it in and get processed. Once you have that paperwork approved (they do a background check) - then you can get one from a Class III dealer.

Suppressor.
They must be legal in your state. If they are - you pay a $200 fee to the Fed Govt, and you typically have to get permission in writing from your local head of law enforcement for your county - the Sheriff or the Police Chief. They sign on your application. Then, yous end it in and get processed. Once you have that paperwork approved (they do a background check) - then you can get one from a Class III dealer.
You can also create a trust and do other paperwork to get around the re

@chadreedfan221 I've heard some stories from friends who worked in sheriffs offices here in Colorado. About how the paperwork required for a class 3 item gives the sheriffs office the right to search and seizure of your household at anytime without warrant. Hope that isn't true but I'd really like to go shooting without going deaf or needing ear plugs.

Don't recommend it though. 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if you get caught with it OR a $200 tax stamp? Not really that difficult of a choice imo.

@jmantheburninator Without the supressor it would be a loud sound i think they use it to not to scare the other animals or they would run the fuck away and that would ruin the hunting day.

@DURANProductioN Oh. I'm not sure though because I know that they don't quiet the gun down a whole lot, anything that breaks the sound barrier is going to make a crack. I'm sure you've seen deer run from so little as a twig breaking near by. Of course im not a hunter though, hunters may fire at an animal from a farther distance then i had imagined

@DURANProductioN without sub-sonic ammo to fire with a suppressor you'll still hear the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier, with subsonic ammo depending on caliber and the type of suppressor it could be virtually silent

you can suppress a gun, but as long as the bullet is traveling over the speed of sound, its going to be loud.

@Halvorson Iv tried that with .22, it will reduce the muzzle blast a lot, but the sonic boom is still there, you get a strange distant 'crack' . Id like to see a sound test from 50 metres away from the gun with subsonics and hi-velocity, Im sure the sound would be way down when your away from the gun

AHHHHHH Jesus people get your terminology right. Of course you cant "silence" a .50 because its virtually impossible to silence any firearm. S-U-P-P-R-E-S-S-O-R. Not a Silencer. That term is a misnomer. It was coined by Hiram Maxim since he was the first to really put them into production. But please, PLEASE stop saying it. If the bad guy from the new A-Team movie can get it right then so can you. And yes there are suppressors for .50s. The AAC Cyclops comes to mind and im sure there are others.

@Dannypwns1 a supresser works by lowering the muzzle flash and noise but it doesn't erases at all it presence just lowers the noise level, while a silencer is something made up by hollywood and ignorants who dont know the real name of the device, a silencer any kind of silencer is consebd to erase ALL noise produce by the gun and the only way to do it is just as equal as not firing the gun at all. and if you used a device with that macthes it name (silencer) the gun would be virtually noise free
