I agree with the others, the tone is amazing. I love the the slide you do from the open C to the bar chord in the chorus, it's little touches like that that make it sound truly awesome.

It looks like you're picking the main riff. How are you muting the strings in between? That's the part I find most difficult. I can do the slides and transitions, but I'm having a really hard time trying to mute those strings while picking the two main notes.

@GozerTheGozerian When I do the main two notes I just pick the strings individually. It takes a while to get the hang of it but its well worth it in the end. I first learned Californication which is also picking individual strings so that helped me alot, try that and see if it helps. Or just continue to practice those two strings eventually your memory will retain how to do that.

for that tone, try to get something like a marshall tube amp, so, guitar -> a lit bit of compression -> amp -> spring reverb

for the last solo using the same settings, just add a tube screamer ora boss ds1 (like john)

I was watching all the other tutorials for Scar Tissue and didn't get it. Now I keep doing it all day long trying to play faster and faster and it works. i don't understand how you do the slide from e8-e10 and g9-g10 with a pick, ive only ever played this song with my fingers and i thought it sounded fantastic, this just blows my theory out of the water.... but when i play with a pick its atrocious... even when i mute the strings in between and strum all 4 it sounds brutal... wtf am i missing?
