@CentralCake She's from the area around Herk-de-Stad, a town right next to my hometown of Hasselt. The Holland accents are completely different from ours, including Annemie's. She just has a slightly "unrefined" way of speaking, some people just do. So it's not really her accent, just the way she speaks that makes her sound hard. Americans don't all speak the same either, do they :)

@CentralCake Yes it is, although with a much softer accent than our northern neighbours. Annemie's accent does indeed sound a bit harder than most, don't know why that is because most people here have a fairly smooth accent. Just her way of speaking I guess.
