You want an AIr Transport of Doom, download the BF2142 *demo* server, install it, trick out your video and control settings, and connect to my server, CHOPPERGIRL's AIRWAR. My transports drop and endless amount of carpet bombs, and you bail out of them in parachutes not pods. And my parachutes are paragliders, you can go up as well as down. You can even kill gunships with the air transport by slinging bombs forward, they slowly glide and track, or drop the whole ship & bombs on a walker.
I believe the way to fly it. is try and make it look like a real heli. Land like like a real one, fly it like a real one. sure its slower but it looks cool andworks good.
That is correct only for the gunship ( S will make the ship hover). In the transportship S makes you go down. If you do not press W or S it will hover . This diference is what makes gunship pilots crash when they try to fly the transportships for the first time.

He explains the controls incorrectly.
W increases vertical thrust, and S holds thrust steady (making it easy to hover).
Thrust is always UP relative to the transport, so to move forward, you tilt forward and you'll start moving.
To slow down, you tilt back, then level the ship out as you slow to the desired speed.
If you hold S and keep the transport perfectly level, you will hover at the same altitude.
