  • I thought this film was way better than the first, and I followed the plot better too :) I also liked how they took elements of Arthur Conan Doyle's original story and put it into the film (Holmes fighting Moriarty and "dying" at Reichenbach Falls etc)...the first movie didn't do that.

  • I am not trying to give myself a pat on my back but I was understanding the whole plot while it was happening while...wait for it...makingout with my gf the whole time haha

  • Personally I loved this movie and thought that Jared Harris as Moriarty was brilliant and better than Mark Strong as Blackwood in the first one. It bugs me when people criticize for being more of an action movie than the typical Sherlock Holmes in a deerstalker. The reason it bugs me is because that was how he was originally written. The reason it had less detective work is because of the book it was based on, The Final Problem, had less detective work and more action much in the style of SH1&2

  • @XxdomuscusxX You should check out our latest podcast, we had one of the producers on and we talked about Moriarty for a while

  • @schmoesknow I'll get right on that

  • everyone this is a mystery/action movie if you were looking for something easy to follow go watch happy feet 2 please

P.S. stop hatin on these guys

  • @360geek123 Thanks duder, check out our podcast, we had one of the producers on and we talked about Sherlock 3

  • I did like this film but i do agree with you that it is hard to follow what is going on at times. I think i still prefer the 1st film.

  • Just thought I'd air my view on the film :D I thought the storyline was fairly simplistic but well told nonetheless, though I will say that the "water" finale (I'm trying not to spoil it) was a little far fetched for my taste. But the mind games between Moriarty and Sherlock were fantastic, culminating in that great battle. As for Moriary I thought he was very well played but never really got the impression of him being Sherlock level intelligent until the very end. Overall I enjoyed it. 4/5

  • you guys are epic as always :) i hope you and jeremy never stop to Review movies.

  • So anyone else think the fangirls got the best fanservice in this film? Just... two guys dancing, I swear they would have been hung or somthing for that back then. Wasn't homosexulatily a sin back then? Not that I didn't love it.... I did.

  • And the verry end ? I knew what was going on it was a game :/

  • You guys must of not seen this film your overly hating on this film you must of not watched it its not complicated

  • @MrJdoerrThemoviecrit No offense but this is a dopey comment. For you, you didn't feel that it was complicated, we found it a tad sloppy, our opinion. But to say we didn't see it? Insulting. Glad you like it though, We encourage difference in opinion but please hold the insults down

  • Im sorry if I hurt you I just wish you put more detail in your films , plus its just one opinion ok ? so dont act like you dont have any other people . so calm down

  • @MrJdoerrThemoviecrit Very calm actually but to insinuate we didn't see it is to say we are cheating our viewers, that is a bit of an insult. Respect your opinion on the film, but in the future, lets keep the opinions to the film and not questioning our credibility.

  • i completely disagree about the plot being complicated i thought it was awesome..the first one was crazy hard to know where it was heading. Jeremy Jahns was right about part one..i wished that we would be with Sherlock as he was solving it, near the end i said fuck it I'll just see til he tells us in the end lol and Moriarty was so much better then Blackwood...because he didn't really relay on dumb tricks..he was actually really getting to Sherlock. and what really won me over was the showdown

  • I loved this movie. just as good if not better that the 1st one. But, the plot was kind of hard to follow. Great filming, really cool scenes, and funny. I recomend it to anyone who liked the 1st movie or likes a good action/suspense movie.

  • And When I saw Phosphorus...Oh I knew what was goin to happen

  • My only question will there be more Movies?

  • I really like your reviews but this review I have to disagree. Thought it was very followable and clever and made sense. Moriarty was definately more clever and illusive than the 1st villian. Thought the use of slow motion was not too much at all. was only used a handful of times and it was put to good use in my opinion. But that's what a review is. It's only an opinion and i'm still gonna keep watching u cos ur very funny. The only thing i didn't like in the film was the very last bit..

  • @nikfirehazard Let me tell you how much respect I have for you after this comment. THIS is exactly why we started this channel. We don't ask everyone to agree with us, we know everyone has their own opinion and sometimes people will agree and sometimes they won't. We hope to have intelligent discussions about difference of opinion and you did just that. Thank you so much for your comment, much appreciated

  • i freaking hate the new sound it does when you hit like :(

  • youre a couple of black kettles calling this movie homoerotic.

  • @petrino Pish posh ;P

  • I liked Noomi Rapace's performance here, even though some people have said that she looks out of place here. I don't think so. I don't see this as an action film; I see it as a suspense film. For an action film, it's a tad bit too post-Matrix-esque. I have a thought about the whole plot surrounding the Rachel McAdams character, but I don't want to give away spoilers.

  • i wanna go see this one,

i thought the first one was ok but could have been better with more action and that's what i'm hearing this one has more of.

  • I'm still waiting to go see this. I thoroughly enjoyed the first film, especially as it's closer to what the real Sherlock is, rather than the stiff, prim and proper image most people have in their heads of what he is. I was disapointed to hear from you review that Moriarty wasn't one-upping Holmes at every corner, though, as that's what I wanted from the film, with one of two endings: Holmes outsmarts him narrowly at the end, or it turns out he was always ahead of Moriarty and we didn't know it

  • I loved the movie, albeit my head hurt after the movie was done but i enjoyed it. Basically, Moriarti is murdering and swindling both politics and industry to where he can control the arms and medical industries to profit from all out world war. Holmes has to find out how he's doing it, disassemble the scheme, and protect the people he cares about, namely Watson and his bride. That's the plot, enjoy the ride.

  • Hey Schmoes, I thought this one was pretty good. However I do believe at some points Robert Downey Jr was mumbling a hell of a lot! The forest shoot out was great, you gotta admit.

  • the movies of sherlock holmes today reflect the america of today people no longer wants to think to much when they go to watch movies, movies now are just a scape route from life nobody espects a movie that would make you question your values and your life i think that everysingle thing in american society today reflects that just watch daily show and colbert report and and you will se a left that is just cozy and the right its not much better either

forhaps ayn rand was right. what a shame

  • @animejoao That was the purpose of movies to begin with. Movies are supposed to provide entertainment and let you escape reality for a couple of hours. I agree that it's nice to have movies that really make you think, but ultimately movies are supposed to make for an escape.

  • i loved this one! what did you guys think of the amazing ending?

  • "stylized action movie"? I dunno man. I like my Sherlock Holmes movies to be more cerebral. I might go see it at a matinee or sneak in.

  • I'll definitely be watching this, but I'm far more eager to see the second series of "Sherlock" from the BBC.

  • I figured out the last movie's mystery, and I often can do so with other detective novels and such. I can't wait to see this movie. Intelligent villains are my favorite kind of villain, especially if they are generally smarter then the protagonist.

  • Definetly want to see it. I expected it to be higher on the schmoes rating, but I will give it a chance.

  • i liked the first one, loved this one....this was awesome, robert downey jr. and jude law were awesome as those roles...and i loved guy ritchie's directing style for this movie, it was fun...the action scenes were great and the funny parts were actually funny, great stuff

  • This was awesome! Much better than the original! Read my review at: thatgirlattheparty(dot)com

  • i wanna see it but sometimes im like idk it sounds okay but kinda corny

  • I'm for sure seeing this movie this weekend!! Been looking forward to it for a while!!

  • great vid fellas, i really want to see this, keep it up

    your boy, Will

  • i am so seeing this this week end :)

  • I went to the midnight and it was great, entertaining, the only thing that pissed me off was that they reshowed the teaser for the Dark Knight Rises.

  • "Dodgeball?!?" Really?

I just nearly choked to death on my coffee when you said that, and i was wearing a light shirt! brb, gonna change. . . or maybe i should wait till the end lol. Hilarious! brats!

  • The ending of the film was hilarious! Overall it was very enjoyable even though it was confusing a little

  • haha, you guys are great XD

  • I am so there girl with dragon tatoo and the returning cast. woot, that is all

  • i totally lol'd at mark when kristian basically called himself sherlock and mark watson. too funny. great revew but i thought u guys would have reviewed the mib3 trailer.

  • Very funny video as always you guys. Thanks for a great job !

  • Yes I'm going to try my damnedist to see it!

  • I wish i you guys incorporated clips of other reviews like you use to do!!!

  • I loved the 1st film, just as good as the Iron Man movies to me. I'm expecting this to be good.

  • @schmoesknow I didn't see the first one. Would I have to see it before I see Game of Shadows? I mean, does it really follow any kind of storyline, or it really just another adventure?

As long as it doesn't follow anything big from the first, I'll check it out.

  • @arkhamcityrulz The movie's standalone.

  • the best part about the first one was the bromance. There better be mo o' that!!! lol

  • @Awkwardtunity More of that, and even better: bromance in drag. Awesome. -Ellis

  • So yeah this is likely my second most anticipated movie of the year, behind Harry Potter. Tomorrow is is going to be a great way to end finals week.

  • @Moonburst12 Congrats to you then, and you've earned the right to turn your brain off and just enjoy a fun flick! -Ellis

  • Really enjoyed the first so gonna go see this over ghost rotocoll, but I was wondering if either of you have seen the Sherlock bbc series?

  • Comment removed

  • @kevinep3 I haven't, but I hear it's great and Cumberbatch is tremendous. So much television to catch up on... -Ellis

  • @schmoesknow well in that case I highly recommend you two watch and then review it, you could even do it in 3 parts seeing as the 3 episodes are about an hour and a half each.

  • did you see The Dark Knight Rises trailer attached to it (in the previews) ?

  • @JDBernal82 Saw an early screening, and they almost never show any trailers...hoping I'll get to check it out soon, can't wait! -Ellis

  • @schmoesknow thats soo cool. It' an epic trailer too!

  • C'mon guys! Let this rip way up the Box Office charts, preferably obliterating any existence of Twilight Wedding & Bedding drool from said charts!! Never mind the complicated story, impossible to outguess...

Of course I'm gonna see it!

And you two... the way you have evolved your Schmoeville show, it's pure magic! I can't remember how I got by before I stumbled upon you here on YT ;-)

  • @Hummingbirder1 Always appreciate comments like that, thanks a ton! And we in Schmoeville don't care how you got here, just that you enjoy your residence. Cheers! -Ellis

  • ok schmoes, who is a better (more fun) character shurlock or tintin??

  • @hunter12555 As for me I still give it to Sherlock by a country mile, but I enjoyed TinTin's film more. Both are better at solving mysteries than I am, that's for sure. -Ellis

  • I'm watching this video!

  • @iTectrix I'm replying to this comment!

  • Could care less

  • Schmoes when will you guys see Mission Impossible? Are you seeing it in IMAX tomorrow?

  • @ReviewswithJake1 Tomorrow morning it all goes down...in IMAX. Hope my alarm works tonight! -Ellis

  • I'd REALLY like to see you guys watch at least the first episode of BBC Sherlock (and at 90 minutes, it's basically a movie in itself) and compare it to the Guy Ritchie version. And don't I remember Mark saying something about enjoying Benedict Cumberbatch's performance in Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy? Mark, this show will blow your brains out. Trust me.

  • @Cumberbitch221B Keep hearing great things about it...hoping I'll have some time to check out all the tv I've been missing over the holidays. -Ellis

  • Great review guys! Can't wait to see this

  • @moovieman222 Thanks! Hope ya dig it...

  • I love any film with Robert Downey Jr., he is one of my favorite actors. I really enjoyed the first film and can't wait to see this one!

  • I want to see this. It looks really good!

  • After the first one, I think I will give this a pass, more interested in Finchers Dragon Tattoo remake and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

  • I want to see this. Thanks again guys!

  • did u guys get to see the dark knight rises trailer?

  • @MayJayK Unfortunately no; press screenings generally don't show any trailers...hoping I get to see it soon!

  • lol. Kristian is definitely Watson a-hahahahaa

  • I can't wait to see this!

  • Seeing this and mission impossible which I'm very excited for, did you see MI:4?

  • @ozzstriker101 Tomorrow morning...man I hope I don't sleep through my alarm! -Ellis

  • Seeing it on Wednesday next week. Looks really good.

  • I'm not watching this crap. I'm either going to see Jack and Jill or Twilight: Breaking D...fuck me. I couldn't even get through that comment without wanting to kick my own ass. Of course, I'll be seeing Sherlock Holmes this weekend.

  • @donniedarkodevotte Nice play...had me worried for a minute. Really very concerned...

  • @schmoesknow

Elementary, my dear schmoes. Anyone with a movie as awesome as Donnie Darko in there screen name would never subject themselves to the horrors of Sandler in drag and Kstew and the glitter crew, while completely ignoring a movie as intelligent as Sherlock Holmes.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I must find my embalming fluid. All of this typing has me quite thirsty and in need of some temporary madness.

  • I'll see it for sure, but I'd be more into it if it wasn't so action-y. I like more drama in my historical drama.

  • The Girl with the Hornests Nest or the Dodgeball? LMAO!!!

  • Good review guys and I will see it this weekend or sometime next week. I haven't seen the first one yet, I will soon, I know the sequel is stand-alone but I still want to see the first one first. Mark looks good with a beard and the weird thing is I couldn't notice his moustache before. I have a similar goatee, the difference is I don't have a thick moustache yet, it's genetics.

  • @TyJensenable You and me both...this thing has taken entirely too long to grow, so I've become unwantingly attached. Who knows, maybe it survives all the way to Christmas... -Ellis

  • @schmoesknow I thought you had a moustache before this because I can't help but overthink sometimes and yes I'm trying to rarely overthink. Maybe a few of the other commenters think I'm a friggin' idiot.

  • Hey guys, it seems as though you did a good job of being honest without telling the whole truth. Mark at 5:10 says it all. I know you have some friends who worked on this so I understand, but it looks like you wanted to give it .5 less for each of you. Maybe I'll be less cynical after I see the movie. Thanks for not giving it 4 or more just because.

  • @WiseAnt Nah, we always give it straight; I did like it alot just not as much as the first one. I'd definitely be up for another go around!

  • @schmoesknow Now that I've seen it I think I know what I was seeing in your review. I walked out of the theater knowing I saw a good movie, but I wanted it to be a must see and it wasn't. They didn't do anything wrong, imo, but I had built up hopes that were merely met and not exceeded. I think I might give it a 4 if I had not set the bar so high. I agree with Ellis' 3.5. I also agree that Mark is Holmes, at least in this movie, with Watson getting married and "maturing".

  • i can not wait for tonight to see it at midnight. as for 3:20 i would have to say that kristian is watson to your sherlock, mark

  • want to see it

  • "The Girl Who Lost a Match of Competitive Dodgeball" coming soon....

  • Great review, like always ;)!! When will the nominees for theYoureviewers awards be announced?

  • This one might get me to theaters before "The Avengers" or "The Hunger Games"

  • One of the youtubers from theslowmowguys shot the big slow motion scene with the same camera he uses for his youtube videos. so im looking forward to see how well that went.

  • I liked the first one very much but my only gripe with it was it never let you solve the mystery along with them. It felt like Sherlock found clues off camera that we couldn't and then just brought them to light at the end of the movie. Maybe this time, they'll let you follow along. Can't wait to see it.

  • Don't feel too bad, Mark :) I always liked Watson better anyways

  • @pmunkyandpals11 I just wanted to play that violin so bad...

  • Don't be upset about being Watson! He's also Bilbo after all! (In the better BBC versions).

  • @TheRedFraction So now I'm a hobbit too? Man, I need to hit the gym :) -Ellis

  • @schmoesknow :D LOL, Didn't mean it that way- he's the hero of an epic story. Hopefully an Oscar winning one too.

  • "The Slo-MO Guys"(youtube channel) actually worked on this movie!

  • I couldn't get through the first one, I didn't like Downey's portrayal of Holmes at all...

  • I don't know now. The thing I like about Sherlock Holmes is the intrigue and mystery outside of the action. If it's just action focused I'll wait for dvd.

  • I personally didn't like the first movie, I thought I would but it was sooo slooooow and I felt it tried too impress everyone, even though everything they did just ended up being "meaningless" til the last 10 minutes of the movie. I see so much of that and more in this film, I don't plan on seeing it, maybe if my friends rent the dvd and I happen to be there when they watch it I will. Til then, I'll pass

  • Initially Daniel Day Lewis was rumored to be wanted as Moriarty. Obviously he wasn't in it. I figure it's cuz the script wasn't up to snuff. Well it is the RDJ and Jude Law show. You're the Watson to my Sherlock. False. The interactions are 50% the reason I watch you guys. I loved the first and I am hoping I will love the second.

  • I really wanted to see it, but someone just planted a seed of doubt in my mind. Well, BBC's Sherlock is better anyway.

  • welcome back kristian

  • I'm more excited about Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, but I might go watch this with my obsessive sister lol

  • I'm seeing it with my grandfather for Christmas.he hasn't been in a theatre for 20 years, so should be fun :)

  • @MyAOShow1 Hope you both like it, would love to hear how it goes. Enjoy the time with your grandfather! -Ellis

  • @schmoesknow It went great! I had to explain a few things but he is 87, so I expected that. We also watched this review after, he loves you guys.

  • Welcome back Harloff! Great review guys but I think ill wait for dvd. 5:30 LOL! 5/5

  • SInce you two borught her up, I have to ask something: Do you find it odd that Noomi Rapace is making her American debut with a film that comes out just days before the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake?

  • I haven't even seen the first one yet, so I won't see this until I do, whenever that is. It seems intriguing though, but it's a shame that you can get lost in the plot; I definitely prefer following movies as they go along.

  • I am so going this!

  • The 1st one was pretty bad so I'm going to go ahead and skip this. Shame, since I used to really like Guy Ritchie.

    6 days.......

  • well im seeing this tomarrow and im glad ta hear its good and sticks to what we all loved about the frist one.

  • What school was the last that Mark graduated from? Elementary, my dear Holmes, elementary.

Just kidding. Love the reviews. Keep up the good work.

  • @MrJkauf Nice one...finally someone discovered that my college degree is merely a cleverly made forge. -Ellis

  • MARK'S BEARD IS WHAT I'M MORE INTERESTED IN

  • @MultiSooki thats no beard! THATS A GOATEEE!

  • @MultiSooki It's becoming harder and harder to keep...yet I can't bear to say goodbye. Hoping Santa brings me a Norelco... -Ellis

  • yes

  • yeh il watch it on blu ray.

  • Really looking forward to seeing this. It's nice to see them try to capture the real Sherlock, instead of the bowler hat and british upper-lip version that most people believe he actually is. Plus, Robert Downey. JR just does mental so well :D

  • Yeah we were going to plan to watch this on friday and MI4 on Saturday or Sunday, these movies look so amazing cant wait to watch them!!

    :3

  • I heard that the new batman trailer will be playing before this movie, which is the main reason I want to see it.

  • Ahhh Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes. It's funny how I was so excited this summer for this movie and now that excitement has been toned way down. Why? I watched the BBC show Sherlock (21st century Holmes n' Watson) and fell truly madly deeply in love with that show. It has the wit, humor, and the smarts the Richie sherlock Holmes was missing. Plus it had....CUMBERBATCH! :3

so will I go see this hell yes. And I will most defiantly sneak into M:I 4. So was there a TDKR trailer that came along w/ fil

  • @DjHamHam411 That's the rumor, we saw a press screening of this and they usually don't run trailers :( Hoping that I get a Dark Knight fix tomorrow morning when I see MI4 in IMAX! (and I hope I don't sleep through my alarm) -Ellis

  • what rating did you guys give the first movie?

  • I'm seeing the Muppets this weekend, forget Sherlock Impossible 6

  • GOOD REVIEW GUYS, I CAN FELL U GUYS LIKE MOVIES AS MUCH AS I DO SO I DONT GET BORED WITH THE REVIEW :)

  • Didn't like the first one, not interested one this one.

  • Seeing this Friday!

  • But it's freaking Sherlock Holmes. If you're not meant to think during the film, what's the point of using that character for anything other than reckognizability?

  • I hope the score is as incredible as begore.

  • "Holmes and Watson is a 19th century version of us"

so... you guys "experimented" in collage?

  • I am very exited for this. Australia gets it on the 5th WHAT? sucks. Great review guys.

  • Loved the first one, RDJ and Jude were great! Trailer looks very entertaining, definitely gonna watch it.

  • Good review...I really enjoyed the first Sherlock Holmes movie...I will check this one out for sure.

  • Does Moriarty find out Sherlock is really Iron Man?

  • Yes i do..i want to see this very much soo. AND WELCOME BACK! Grats on the child. get ready for head aches, and multiple heart warming moments.

  • Seeing this for sure. But I'm seeing M.I.4 first

  • Nice review guys, this looks like it could be fun. Have you seen the series Sherlock with Benedict Cumberpatch and Martin Freeman? Personally I prefer it to this franchise.

  • "MORE-EE-ARTY"
