I can't play and I guess never will at 60. I love listening to the guitar, but the one thing that often spoils it for me is the noise of finger tips rubbing the strings between cord changes. Am I alone with this feeling?

They make a sting that does not have the fret noise you are speaking of. The problem is that it's slick and many guitar players to not like it because of how slippery it is.

hi i just wonder something.. my guitar doesent make the same "light" sound as yours, it gets kinda darker sound.. why is that?

different guitars have different sounds, because of different wood used to build it, strings used (nylon/steel) etc. it can also depend on how old your strings are

That G variation is a G6, which can also be played by holding only the 5th and 6th string down in the G position and playing all 6 strings, although, that position wouldn't work for this arpeggio style song.
