What in the world! Why is not a paramedic there to help, he could hurt his nerves or tendons forever if he doesn't get a massage right away.....it is very emotional to watch, but really someone had to help him!
@Kylec3 I was very touched by all these nice comments until i read your fucking comment like what the fuck... fuck you this is why we can't have nice comments on an inspirational video
Real athletes do not think that this incident was "inspirational"! Redmond certainly wasn't expected to win a medal in the final and he only finished this preliminary heat because he received assistance from his dad. There is nothing inspirational about losing and getting injured. He probably faked this "injury" just to get some time in the spotlight!
@Thebrowntown1234 What a terrible thing for you to write! Why glorify a showboating athlete whose claim to fame is that he got injured (or pretended to be injured) in an Olympic event? Why not idolize an actual winner instead?
@sbtbfanatic I highly doubt that he was thinking about the glory that would come from this as he hopped on one leg around the track. He was probably thinking about finishing what he started and wanting to make his country and family proud of him.
@sbtbfanatic How can you say that he "faked" pulling a hamstring? Have you ever pulled a hamstring? In terms of pain, childbirth is number one, pulling a hamstring is a close second.
He may not have won the race, but the lesson from his performance here is an inspiration to everyone who sees it (with the obvious exception of you).
Heart determination to finish the race I say, he kept pushing no matter how much heart broken he lost that day. As he limped around the track, his father came waving to the medic to please get back..the son was in tears and in so much pain, the world will never forget the father and son 92 Olympic games. Never quit no matter what you do, this is an example of determination to follow through. They are winners in my book, I'm proud to say, It just a reminder, to always finish & never quit noway!
Derek Redman is a true inspiration, this brings tears to my eyes and faith in my heart, There is very little that is more powerful than watching he and his father fight Inch byInch to finish
I,like the rest of the world watching the Olympics remember this. Mr. Redmond is a true testament to the Olympic Spirit. HE is an Olympic Hero. The strength that got him to the Olypmics made him an ahtlete. The courage he exhibited in walking with his Dad to the finishline makes him a true Olympian Athlete.
this wut a father is all about...have his sons back no matter what...unike other fuckers that dont even care.....i love this video...respect for u 2 guyss

@sbtbfanatic if you play sport, any sport, and got injured before, you will know how it feels to get injured - especially in a BIG event
getting back up alone is a very brave thing to do, not to mention finishing it

I remember seeing this live. I watched with tears as he made it past the finish line.
This is THE spirits of sports. 18 years later, much older and more cynical, it STILL brings tears to my eyes.
This, in my opinion, is THE very finest sportive moment of the Barcelona olympics
