  • Hi Paul

I purchased my first cajon yesterday.

I've already found myself leaning over to hit the bass sound...

I'm 6ft 2, and very long in the body.

Everytime I lean back for a good straight back, I'm unable to hit the drum, only the edge/rim.

Do you know of anything that i could to prevent this ?

    Many thanks

    Stuart

  • another tip is that you can lean back with the cajon so you can reach farther without having to bend down so much.

  • Ha! 6:00. "For right now, you need to go away." I pledge to end all phone calls in the future by saying that.

  • @craigwg hahahahaha

  • So wait...you don't want to hurt yourself? I thought for sure we were trying to hurt ourselves. I don't understand the point. No pain, no gain, right? Am I right? All right people...let's break our wrists on this. That makes more sense. Any cajon that is still in 3 dimensions when you're done playing...means you didn't play it right. Sign up for my class called "How to use the cajon in heavy metal music". We do a full discourse on Metallica and Anthrax. Lars knew how to do it.

  • Thanks great tips!

  • Awesome! I'm a music teacher and I just bought one of these for one of my classes. I'm going to tell my percussion student to watch your videos.

    Thanks!

  • The start is like a bad promo for late 80's/early 90's WWF. Cool cajoning though.

  • Thanks for this basic lesson...

  • instantly - great shirt

  • Nice socks!

  • thanks man!!

  • Thanks for sharing the basics. Was confused by the groove... you said it uses all 3 tones, but I could only distinguish the base and the slap?
