got a cajon for christmas today. figured all this out by myself within 10 minutes..... i guess maybe this video is for people who are entirely new to percussion?
So wait...you don't want to hurt yourself? I thought for sure we were trying to hurt ourselves. I don't understand the point. No pain, no gain, right? Am I right? All right people...let's break our wrists on this. That makes more sense. Any cajon that is still in 3 dimensions when you're done playing...means you didn't play it right. Sign up for my class called "How to use the cajon in heavy metal music". We do a full discourse on Metallica and Anthrax. Lars knew how to do it.
Nice video man, I'm a Brazilian keyboard player and i'm considering to buy a cajon, just to have fun. Your video is very instructive and clear. Congratulations!
What is the best kind of floor to play cajon? can i play it on carpet or a wood floor? Does it matters much in the final sound?

in your new video of the basics you make a bass sound with the palm of your hand. Wich is better to use? if u want to use my palm i have to lean a little forward. Thanks for the videos!
paul, I have forgotten a question: I am doing 16track homerecording. do you think the cahon could be used for recording tracks ( maybe a condensor mic?) . There are so many cajons on the market. Which one would you recommend. thanks. your tutorial is superb Berher

Hi Paul
I purchased my first cajon yesterday.
I've already found myself leaning over to hit the bass sound...
I'm 6ft 2, and very long in the body.
Everytime I lean back for a good straight back, I'm unable to hit the drum, only the edge/rim.
Do you know of anything that i could to prevent this ?
Many thanks
Stuart
stuartrozier 11 months ago
another tip is that you can lean back with the cajon so you can reach farther without having to bend down so much.

Thanks for sharing the basics. Was confused by the groove... you said it uses all 3 tones, but I could only distinguish the base and the slap?

Bought my first cajon a few months back, to play some acoustic gigs with the rest of the band. Love this instrument.
Your tips on posture make total sense, thanks a lot chief, I will be working on that.
I look forward to more lessons to follow.
Do you play in the central belt (Scotland) in your show, I would certainly come along to see it if you were.
