Whilst act 1 will have you "walking on water" if you so choose, act 2 of Splash Ocean zone will be completely under water. In this zone, Robotnik is polluting the ocean with odd liquids you too will have to dodge to proceed. Another feature, is that Sonic is on a surfboard from start of act 1. The boss, in my opinion, should be the aqua-mobile, Robotnik's mobile, with glass around the front and metal fins on the sides, and a drill. Something else to point out, the capsule contains sea-creatures.
@TheSquonky Megaman, also Link>>mario!.. mario is just a weird gearing jumping douche (no offense i dont hate him) but just the game are a bit too eazy and the bosses in the games are a fucking joke,
It's not a fanboy talk here, but I don't see the SNES music sooo better than Genesis music. The problem is that some developers don't used the Yamaha on the Genesis well. The SNES to me sounds like a Generic MIDI sometimes, and the SNES "guitar" sucks next to the Genesis one, lol.
I could see this as a song in Sonic the Hedgehog. :) Usually I like SNES music better. The sound quality is usually better and it sounds closer to the real instruments. However Genesis does have it's moments. :)
@Theweirdtophat Actually only half of your comment is correct.
Yes, the SNES instruments usually are closer to the real thing but they are all samples which means that the quality is worse.
The Mega Drive uses the Yamaha YM2612 sound chip which has proper FM sounds not samples and also a PSG chip for square waves, you can make thousands of sounds from it, where as the SNES sample bank has about 15 instruments.
@Samuli385 because obviously the creators knew how to use the snes sample bank better. just because one game sounds better on snes doesn't mean the megadrive sound chip is better. its about who uses it.
TFM can't accurately replicate everything the Mega Drive can offer, though, such as PCM samples and the 3 PSG channels, which are actually fairly important in making nice sounding Mega Drive music, though I realise there aren't many working Mega Drive sound editors out there.
Why would you remake this on the sega, and not the super nintendo? If you're going to do a 16 bit remake, do it right with a system that has a sound chip that is actually competent.
Is there a 16 bit rendition of the actual boss fight music anywhere? A genesis or SNES or X version, doesnt matter......by the way, this track is as pleasant as splash woman haha
As of now there's no simple way to include PCM audio in these Megadrive tracks. I could have cheated and mixed them in later, but the reason I'm proud of these is because they'd actually play on a Sega Megadrive.
The VGM file I uploaded (which looks like its gone now) could be packed into a ROM or played straight through most emulators (like Fusion I think). Idk what I did with that file, I'll have to find it and reupload.
I hear ya. Audio was not the Genesis' strong point. You can churn out some decent turns on it if you want, but it helps for the tune to actually be made with it in mind.
That would take about a year or two to get done as megaman tww 2 or they could just make it a fangame. (sounds like a Sonic zone i guess i still (rarely) after that dumb website banned me i hate it so.....)
Ok sure, but what we need is MM1-MM9, Mega Man: The Stardriod Invasion IN COLOR (My name for MMV on the Gameboy) and MM&B all re-released on the Wii with a choice of 8-Bit or new age graphics (32-Bit) and classic or remixed music. Packed full of extras like a video review with Infaune and a sneak peak of Mega Man games to come.
I must agree with NOTYaminomalex - The Genesis sound chip DID have a sort of..."mysterious" feel to it. An excellent example of this is the soundtrack of "Sword of Vermillion".
The game itself shows it's age today, and had clunky gameplay even during it's day, but it's music was always memorable to me.
----
All that aside, if people like Myhatsonfire worked for Sega during the 16-bit era, I think we would have seen more awesome chiptunes.
Unfortunately, TFM doesn't allow PCM or PSG. However, if he want to stay true to how they converted the songs in FM in the wily wars, he souldn't use PCM. Also he could compose the PSG part with a separate Master System tracker (which use the same PSG chip) and assemble the 2 parts when finished.
Genesis chip tunes have always had this "mysterious" vibe to them that I've always liked. I think it adds to the elegance of Splash Woman's stage and character.
Whilst act 1 will have you "walking on water" if you so choose, act 2 of Splash Ocean zone will be completely under water.
