  • Whilst act 1 will have you "walking on water" if you so choose, act 2 of Splash Ocean zone will be completely under water. In this zone, Robotnik is polluting the ocean with odd liquids you too will have to dodge to proceed. Another feature, is that Sonic is on a surfboard from start of act 1. The boss, in my opinion, should be the aqua-mobile, Robotnik's mobile, with glass around the front and metal fins on the sides, and a drill. Something else to point out, the capsule contains sea-creatures.

  • In my head, I'm making "Fresh Prince of Splash Woman".

  • mega man, mario, sonic, link, fox mccloud, zelda, samus

best characters in video game history

  • MEGAMAN>MARIO

  • @TheSquonky Megaman, also Link>>mario!.. mario is just a weird gearing jumping douche (no offense i dont hate him) but just the game are a bit too eazy and the bosses in the games are a fucking joke,

  • @WoWfan924 Have you ever played Super Mario Galaxy, sir?

  • @MooneySquared no, only seen it, why??

  • @WoWfan924 Because as you go on, it's really difficult. You may wanna alter that comment.

  • sounds like zombies ate my neighbors

  • Also, fucking awesome job.

  • Sonic Related Joke - Take 1000

  • Congrats. This sounds amazing.

  • Needs more Master System...

  • maby one of the sega characters's PINGAS will be rising...

  • Super dope man

  • It's not a fanboy talk here, but I don't see the SNES music sooo better than Genesis music. The problem is that some developers don't used the Yamaha on the Genesis well. The SNES to me sounds like a Generic MIDI sometimes, and the SNES "guitar" sucks next to the Genesis one, lol.

Anyway, I like and still have both consoles =)

  • I could see this as a song in Sonic the Hedgehog. :) Usually I like SNES music better. The sound quality is usually better and it sounds closer to the real instruments. However Genesis does have it's moments. :)

  • @Theweirdtophat Actually only half of your comment is correct.

Yes, the SNES instruments usually are closer to the real thing but they are all samples which means that the quality is worse.

The Mega Drive uses the Yamaha YM2612 sound chip which has proper FM sounds not samples and also a PSG chip for square waves, you can make thousands of sounds from it, where as the SNES sample bank has about 15 instruments.

    But you were close :3

  • @ATV642 But why doom sound bad in Megadrive and awsome in Snes?

  • @Samuli385 because obviously the creators knew how to use the snes sample bank better. just because one game sounds better on snes doesn't mean the megadrive sound chip is better. its about who uses it.

  • NES version is better :D

  • Splash Hill Zone... Oh wait! That already exists!!!

  • Deep Sea Zone - Act 1

    ...wait

  • TFM can't accurately replicate everything the Mega Drive can offer, though, such as PCM samples and the 3 PSG channels, which are actually fairly important in making nice sounding Mega Drive music, though I realise there aren't many working Mega Drive sound editors out there.

  • This is awesome :)

  • is tfm music maker freeware?

  • holy crap! it actually sounds better!

  • I can SO imagine this in the Wily Wars.

  • MegaTAILS 9

  • I really like these 16 bit remixes. Could you do some for Megaman 10?

  • Why would you remake this on the sega, and not the super nintendo? If you're going to do a 16 bit remake, do it right with a system that has a sound chip that is actually competent.

  • @NoJustice37: You can't handle the truth that the Mega Drive sound chip is better! :P

  • Is there a 16 bit rendition of the actual boss fight music anywhere? A genesis or SNES or X version, doesnt matter......by the way, this track is as pleasant as splash woman haha

  • Pretty F"cking awesome!

  • Well, it definately sounds like the genesis....very creative, but lets not kid ourselves, genesis had uniquely bad sound quality haha

  • <3 ogasmic

  • i never played mega man 9, but this song sounds FUCKING GORGEOUS! how the heck do you make these things?

  • Splash Hill - Act 2

  • @ToTa8000 Hill?

  • Sounds gooooood.

    You got the skills.

  • Is your hat really on fire?

  • They should make a Wily Wars for each group of 3 Mega Man games.

  • I think Genesis music is charming in pitch. I understand the knocking on it, but I personally love it.

  • Just another example of how limited the sound ware on the megadrive was.

  • OMG it sounds even better now.

  • Splash Ocean Act 2 (Wave Man music is first act)

  • this is the ONLY megaman 9 theme that actually sounds good in a Genesis sampler.... in fact i like how this one sounds (has nice deepness)

  • OMG splash woman is in 16-bit! Don't tell Spax!

  • the only sexy chick in all of megaman becides roll and iris lmao

  • @distubezero

Layer would like to have a word with you.

  • The little clicky drums are my favorite part. Very nice.

  • Great!

  • I like it. I would just call it a remix though.

  • Splash Ocean: Zone 1 Act 1

    Boss: Egg Aircraft Carrier

  • lol its funny cause all sega music sounds like sonic haha

  • nicely done

  • it would be awesome to see a 16 bit Snes/ Genesis/ Turbografx Megaman 9

good job on the soundtrack makes me feel like im playing Genesis.

  • Well done, Keiji Inanfune would be proud.

  • wickedly well done! Seconded on laserbreak43

  • haha wicked recreation

  • well, this needs better bass and kick drums. Then it'd be pretty nice :)

  • As of now there's no simple way to include PCM audio in these Megadrive tracks. I could have cheated and mixed them in later, but the reason I'm proud of these is because they'd actually play on a Sega Megadrive.

  • they do? cool, so do you have a rom file one could check out?

  • The VGM file I uploaded (which looks like its gone now) could be packed into a ROM or played straight through most emulators (like Fusion I think). Idk what I did with that file, I'll have to find it and reupload.

  • @myhatsonfire Umm... the Genesis can do DAC conversions, although it disables 1 FM channel to do so.

  • Splash Ocean - Act 1

  • @McSpizzy In the vain of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon.

  • You have just gotten an epic win award.

  • wow, it actually has a sonic feel at most parts.

  • deep sea secret base zome act 1

  • The Boss?? I Giant mermaid !?

  • whenever i hear this, i always think of aquatic ruin zone from sonic 2.

    fantastic job!

  • Ren and Stimpy's level "Inside the invention"'s bubbles could be used for bubble patforms.

  • Deep Sea Zone Act 1 --- oh wait thats in Srb2

  • GBA feeling~! XD

  • Somehow, I picture the Undertow level from Ristar.

  • i want the SNES version, genesis makes my ears hurt

  • I hear ya. Audio was not the Genesis' strong point. You can churn out some decent turns on it if you want, but it helps for the tune to actually be made with it in mind.

  • Wow, I think I heard an Ecco the Dolphin sample. How fitting for that stage too!

  • I'm digging the FM synthesis, but hell, I was expecting the use of MM7 sound samples or something.

    That'd be pretty awesome too.

  • That would take about a year or two to get done as megaman tww 2 or they could just make it a fangame. (sounds like a Sonic zone i guess i still (rarely) after that dumb website banned me i hate it so.....)

  • I think the most stellar rom hack ever, would be if they hacked the Wily Wars to include the Megaman 9 robot masters and stages, with your music.

I can imagine that would be blisteringly difficult, though.

  • yea i always wanted something like that with MegaMan 4, 5 and 6

  • Ok sure, but what we need is MM1-MM9, Mega Man: The Stardriod Invasion IN COLOR (My name for MMV on the Gameboy) and MM&B all re-released on the Wii with a choice of 8-Bit or new age graphics (32-Bit) and classic or remixed music. Packed full of extras like a video review with Infaune and a sneak peak of Mega Man games to come.

  • This sounds awesome. Could you reupload the mp3/vgm, though?

  • You have a genesis soundfont?

    This is amazing.

  • i think most of the mm9 themes could fit into a 2-D sonic game quite well. this even sounds like sonic type song

  • Nah, this song should be combined into Bubble Man's theme, just faster!

  • Remind me of the Aquatic Ruin Zone. :P

    Anyways, nice remix.

  • WOW!! This was amazingly done!! Five Stars!!

  • I must agree with NOTYaminomalex - The Genesis sound chip DID have a sort of..."mysterious" feel to it. An excellent example of this is the soundtrack of "Sword of Vermillion".

The game itself shows it's age today, and had clunky gameplay even during it's day, but it's music was always memorable to me.

    ----

All that aside, if people like Myhatsonfire worked for Sega during the 16-bit era, I think we would have seen more awesome chiptunes.

    Great work on this.

  • You're making me think a lot more highly of the Mega Drive's sound chip. Awesome work.

  • WOW! Shinobi style Music!

  • Very good redone.. except for the percussive hit.

Genesis has a really neat drum set on PSG and PCM... so that could have been better.

    But nice overall.

  • Unfortunately, TFM doesn't allow PCM or PSG. However, if he want to stay true to how they converted the songs in FM in the wily wars, he souldn't use PCM. Also he could compose the PSG part with a separate Master System tracker (which use the same PSG chip) and assemble the 2 parts when finished.

  • DAC not PCM

  • OMG, YES.

A remix of splash woman's theme on my favorite console! Winner is you!

  • Now imagine how this would sound on Super Nintendo... *drools*

  • MM9 would be soooooo awesome with 16-bit graphics!!!

  • Yes, but it would ruin the feel of the game.

  • Indeed, it's meant to be a nostalgic return to the classic feel.

  • @GameFreakDude It would be ass

  • @GameFreakDude true, but genesis/megadrive just has this certain sound to it, while you can go nuts with snes.

  • subbed right after 00:00

  • Genesis chip tunes have always had this "mysterious" vibe to them that I've always liked. I think it adds to the elegance of Splash Woman's stage and character.

  • AGREED.

  • This is damn good.

  • Mega Man 9 in Wily Wars!

  • I agree with ya!
