  • better than before. lol

  • I've a friend that lets his fish tank get a lot worse than that.I couldn't look at it any longer so I cleaned it for him....It was gone so bad that the water reeked of pee and crap and the filter had a thick brown gunge in it.I keep my own fish and do a water change and partial vacuum of the gravel every single week on fridays without fail and I wish more people would too..My friends responce every time when I asked would he not clean it was "Their still alive so their fine" Not nice at all

  • The out come is worth the time. I made a before and after video here on youtube. Under the name FISH TANK TRASFORMATION. It turned out real good. Its a 120 gallon so you know it was a pain but the outcome makes it worth it. Check it out you are a person that would appreciate the clip.

    Take Care

    The tank looks good!

    Rich Buscemi

  • O_o yuck

  • u should never keep fish or even be around them

  • Is it a good idea to do all the cleaning with the fish left inside ?

  • and in 2011 ur still cleaning it fo rhim

  • did he pay you 20 bucks lol

  • FILTER

  • PLECO

  • lol, where's the substrate and plants? What's the point of a algae covered glass box with goldfish?

  • i would remove half a tank of water before cleaning and transfer the fish into a the bucket where you took that half out. Then clean the tank and siphon all the dirt out and put the fish back into the cleaned tank and add 10% of the volume every 2-3 days to allow the fish to acclimatise to the new water.

  • yuck!!!

  • Feel sorry for the poor fish :/

  • I really pity the fish.....thanks to the guy who cleaned.......

  • Poor fish. Can you not see they are scared out of the brains? ..

  • Oh yeah, needs some gravel, plants and filter! Filter might help with keeping it clean :)

  • -_- Horrible tank! Good on you for cleaning it out!

  • good for the garden that waste water.

  • They should call the fish police for ya brother.... (But great song)

  • honestly I would consider getting a much larger aquarium. Goldfish release massive amounts of amonia. This is actually bordering on cruelty, no offense and I am not harping on animal rights but these fish need more space. As for plecos the water would be too cold for them as there should be no heater for coldwater fish like these and Koi.

  • all that in under 8 mins , very good ;)

  • omg your brother is a lazy sob

  • you did an amazing job!!!!

  • thats sick lol

  • you should get a filter for this tank.

  • @joshy39769 are you blind lol there is a filter

  • @Vamp176 oh haha i am sry. mayb u should get a algae eater :D

  • @901black out theyre probably guppies

  • you know i have these small fish and they have these colourful tails and i got no clue on wat there called

  • i don't see the fish :-/

  • my old fish tank is same one but mine was haunted as the water was fine everything i went shop they checked water it was fine but all the fish died! now i have bigger tank and its fine wahoooo!(it has the same water as the old fish tank not the same water but i mean same temp)

  • Maybe the Goldfish were used to this type of treatment. It was probably a gradual cleaning process...

though I don't really know how long they've lived for... or when they've died...

  • poor fish, u cant remove more than 50% water at a time

  • WTF!!

  • thats out of order.

  • never ,never take 80-90% water out of the tank!. only 25% weekly changes. i can see why the tank got full of aglae is because its sit next to the window. . move it away from window. one fish for that size of tank.

  • @hotmr2 That's a popular myth. As long as the bacteria in the tank is not disturbed one can do 100% water change if desired.(Although that would be a bit excessive) The point is one can never remove too much nitrate from a tank.

  • Utterley disgusting and disturbing to say the least, your brother shouldn't own a chia pet !!!!! Take those poor fish back to the LFS. No filtration on this tank is of great concern, not the lack of decorations.

  • @DPhelpfan theres a filter right there ending left side

  • gets some plants and gravel for that tank and an airstone puts more oxygen in there

  • That fish tank is FAR too small for 6 goldfish, and it looks to me like they don't have a filter. PLEASE give them a bigger home, it's horrible watching one of the most abused animals in the world suffer like this, and you are contributing to the abuse!

  • I GOT 5 PIRANHA AND MY TANK NVR GOT THAT BAD WTF

  • that filty? i would do 100% water change cause is you just left that much of the dirty water, there could be something bad

  • nice what gallon is ur fish tank?

  • should have scrubbed first and then proceed to remove water.

  • here is a tip, larger tank or fewer fish. never do a water change like that.

  • You should get paid!!!

  • When are you going to add some nice decoration and stuff for the fish. This is animal cruelty having nothing but fish in your tank

  • u shoulda gotten a shit load of sucker fish lmao :P

  • NEWBIE FISH TANK( GOLD FISH )

THEY ARE EASY TO CARE FOR BECAUSE THIER COLD WATER FISH BUT NEED GOOD FILTRATION N UR BRO CANT EVEEN HANDLE THIS LOL

  • mine was dirtyer

  • i wud recommend removing the fish during this cleaning process but def good bro

  • Dang Poor Fish I cant believe they are still alive

  • dont be a panzee its just algae build-up on the glass just get an algae sponge

  • @stupidkidsfuku or a pleco =)

  • wtf are you doin !!!! thats way to much water to change at the 1 time,

15-20% weekly. think you changed like 95% suprised the fish are still alive ,

did you treat the water and check the temp of the water before you put it in the tank ? should have cleaned the algae before you done the water change aswell, you probably done more harm than good

  • @martyb0y1690 Your wrong. With goldfish its advised to do water changes down until the the fins are showing. Thats becuase their such high waste fish. The filter in a tank that dirty will have a huge bacteria colony so it wont affect the Nitrogen Cycle at all. Your right about water temp and removing Chorine and Chloromides with a dechlorinator. But other than that all is right.

  • @Bucketheadification and where did you hear such nonsense ? how ofter does the tank get cleaned ? also the tank is heavily overstoked any reason for that ? what size is the tank, and the size of bacteria conony doesn't depend on the amount of waste it depends on the surface area of the filter media eg. ceramic bio media holds more than plastic bio media because the internal surface area is larger what type of media is in the filter ? just sponge I bet

  • @martyb0y1690 i agree with you,too much of water changes will only cause stress and shock for the fish, one should not change so much water at once

  • Actually much of what you see (the algae) is good for the fish...it is really the ammonia/nitrites/nitrates that accumulate in the tank after not cleaning it for a while that's bad for them. The thing is that you can't even see it, so it's even worse.

  • Wow ! What a difference!!!

  • ur brother probably said, "YOUR SUPPOSED TO CLEAN IT?!?!"

  • Nice job man. Your bro owes you one for that!

  • ... U should tell your brother hes an idiot (sorry if you LIKE him ) for not taking care of his fish like they wer actually LIVING creatures. poor things had to live in an inviornment like that.

  • I wish my brother was like u.....

  • you are a nice guy! great job!

  • I can't believe the fish all look so healthy after being in a dirty tank so long.. Very lucky! I bet the fish are very grateful that you cleaned their home :)

  • WOW!!! POOR FISH PROBABLY FEEL SAD IN THAT BORING TANK!!!!!!

  • surprised they havnt died, gold fish poo is toxic. i used to do 50% watwer changes every week, and with my tropical tank i do mayb 35% every 3 weeks , doesnt do my fish any harm, i dont listen to many thing that are recomended when it comes to my fish, 15 years and i have have no problem, didnt know that i needed to test water for amonia etc till 5 year ago, my fish have always been healthy and happy =D and you did a good job canin well done lol

  • @llogan1988 all the algae keeps the toxins under control

  • Holy shit I almost fainted when you turned the light on

  • Just a tip for you. No matter how bad the tank conditions are, you should never change more than 25% of the water at a time. More than 30% can shock the fish and possibly kill them. I'm glad to see you taking action to clean it though. It should be done once a month.

  • Also, his tank is getting so much algae because of the direct sunlight from the window. I would move the tank away from direct sunlight or keep the blinds shut at all times and try not to run the tank light untill the algae issue goes down.

  • @TrueConservative123 but in this case he just needed to start from the beginning... maybe changing all the water would be the best decision because the whole tank is dirty

  • good thing the goldfish are a hard fish

  • your music is epic. String Quartet to metallica? I want the string quartet to Linkin Park Gold fish are so low matenance, I'm transitioning as soon as possilbe, I just have the CRAPPIEST luck with the tropical/warm water fish ESP. w/ ich

  • wow what a boring tank

  • if it wouldnt kill them, id say give the fish a scrub too

  • it would have been easier if you had taken the little guys out first, then you could have really gone to town on that tank, but good job :D

  • eew

  • grotty bastard lol

  • :O my tank gets pretty damn minging sometimes like a couple bits of algae here and there but...jesus christ lol

  • Those fish are like....holy shiitttt moveeeeeee massive arm coming!

  • And while your at it,get those fish some plants and decorations!

  • please, just put gravel and plants and rocks in your aquarium...

    ur fish are just stressed.

    and scrap this algae out!

put activated carbon to your filter.

    the water is too colourful.

  • @Telemachus89 CHECK OUT MY ANGELFISH:) clean AND HAPPY!!! also fish LOVE plants wether fake or real. a bare tank is stressful for fish guys.

  • love the music at the end you got soul my brother

  • it looks like a swamp

  • You're a gem for doing that! Thank you^^

  • send me the alagae for my pleco

  • If your borther is that lazy to clean his own fish tank, please advise him don't ever have any more fishes or pets....better yet, don't have any childrens. lol Those poor fishes...

  • a change is as good as a quick death. i suppose u had to give them mouth to mouth resusitation or maybe they give each other resus. anyways the music was a good death tune for the big clean.enjoyed, cheers.

  • You know what would have prevented this? If you had the lights on a timer for 16 hours a day and left the filter on 24/7. It really shows otherwise. I'd recommend getting a water snake to get rid of that nasty goldfish problem you've got in there.

  • how did they survive so long with that alge

  • goldfish are just that hardy ;)

  • @deano91209 Goldfish can servive just in about anything one thing I like about them. There easy to take care of.

  • a plecos heaven!!

  • dude you took like all the water out....but you really cleaned that fish tank

  • Don't pour that dirty water down the drain, your house plants would love it!

  • Its still dirty it looks like after you clean it

  • this is why i keep tropical fish :O

  • black peice of shit dont keep fish dick ward

  • Great vid with the song at the end man lol.

  • i bet it smelled

  • uuuggghh I HATE dirty fish tanks :( as a fish fanatic it's one of my BIGGEST pet peeves. Plz see how well my angel fish look:)

  • Why does this guy's brother hate fish so much? Maybe he should add a couple rocks and plants, and this is a couple of months at least of neglect. What a terrible tank. Fail!

  • all the comments about the large water changes are true but a lot of times goldfish are unaffected because they are in the carp family. And In ponds when you get rain its pretty much a water change.

  • good job

  • First off the tank is overstocked. Goldfish produce lots of waste and that's a lot of fish in that size tank. Second, doing large water changes on a dirty tank like that is risky because it can cause a huge pH swing that can kill the fish. You're better off doing several small water changes over the course of several days until the tank is clean.

  • @jlogan2664 its not overstocked just undercleaned. goldfish are messy, need biweekly water changes? powerhead with prefilter helps...

  • you need at least 2 sucky fish

  • What size tank is that?

  • He didn't do anything wrong. The filter holds the beneficial bacteria. You actually don't need to have a substrate(gravel) I know a ton of breeders that dont use substrate because it's easier to care for (especially when you have tons of tanks) As long as he keeps up with water changes every week and maintains the filter the fish will be fine. Though.. they should really be in a bigger tank eventually.

  • oooh lots of algae plecotomous and a snail would say OMG A BUFFEY! or watever you spell bufay

  • lol buffet

  • lol

  • lol that would be heaven for my pleco

  • looks great when u finish it

  • You should take the fish tank away from your brother and keep them for yourself, since you actually care more. Poor fish living in those conditions. Good job for you

  • look like ur bro had the runs and the toilet wasn't working

  • wow

  • Oh my God I couldn't even see that it had a filter....that's dirty.

  • dude u need a pleco in there and maybe a filter? lol

  • That wasnt water. The was SOUP!

  • What a nice brother you are!

  • thats more then a 50% water change

  • it was like a 85% water change

  • There was no filter thats why its so dirty gold fish create the most waste out of any fish

  • That is not dirt, its algae and goldfish do not produce thee most waste out of any fish.

  • Its not as much about space as it is about the nitrogen cycle. If there's too many fish in 1 tank that means more poo & wee which creates more ammonia which is toxic 2 fish in high levels. In nature, the volume of water per fish is extremely high & waste products become diluted 2 low concerntrations. In aquariums however it can take as little as a few hours for ammonia concerntrations 2 reach toxic lvls. Ur bro obviously doesn't appreciate his beautiful fish. Shame. Y don't U rescue them sumhow?

  • When it gets to that stage the only thing to do if you dont have a huge spare tank around is taking most of the water out.

They hardly look stressed. The filter holds valuable bacteria (as long as you didn't scrub/wash it too much) which will give them their life support.

  • I would hate to be those fish, it should of never got like that in the first place. bigger Aquarium is required.

  • what a waste of a fish tank, it has so much potential. and your a good bro lol.

  • that was too much of a water change you should only do 25 % at a time and i hope u filled it up with declorinated water that tank is over stocked u need one that is alot bigger for those fish

  • I can't see a shit

  • can u come and help me whit that :P?

  • Your an awsome brother! :)

  • dang u did an awsom job

  • the algae isnt the problem, its just the stock of fish. green algae is really good for goldfish! they seem to thrive from it. a bigger tank would be suitable though

  • never seen algae in my fish tank and i got the same fish

  • first off, those fish are far too big for that small tank. second, you need to get some decor...plants...coral..something to make them feel more comfortable.

  • It's his brother'sf fish tank. Not his. I agree that this guy should put some gravel or decour in there, but for now, I think it's okay.

  • thet's not filthy, those are just alge.. wich produce a lot of oxygen... so don't worry...

  • oh yeah, i've seen worse,

    WAL MART

  • @valentinecutiee I agree with you.

  • nice

  • move the fishtank away from the window where there's sunlight hitting it or get a black background to cover it. drop in UV sterilizers work too. as fish get older, they're more sensative to frequent water changes and medications. so reduce the amount of water you take out. your fish will likely to survive. haha. that's in my opinion. you can do whatever you like that works

  • your brothers tank is WAY way too small for all those fish! what a horrible way to have fish in an overstocked filthy tank with no filter...its really disgusting!! you should just take them back to the pet store so they can have a chance at been treated properly. and the way you cleaned the tank was awfull and puts soo much stress on them.

  • »» vc podia ter tirado os peixes primeiro lol

  • Wow, that must have been the most stress I have seen put on fish by far. You cleaned the tank up pretty good but I did have some concerns, such as did you properly dechlorinated the water before you changed it? 25% water should be taken out, yours was like %90 lol. I hate to sound so "strict" but I love fishes, and love to watch them taken care of! Once the tank was cleaned, I was like what an improvement. I subscribed, good luck with the fish!

  • I was just thinking the same thing. I made a 50% water change on a too small tank and lost ALL 3 of my goldfish to ich. Broke my heart

  • u no nothing about a fish tank u need that stufe it take the amonia and nitrate out of your water next time i would leave one side with it on k but good vid thanks bye

  • i thought my fish tank was bad

  • jeje mi hermano lo tendría igual

por eso mejor yo me adueñé de su tortuga

jeje no se usar un sifo malditasea ToT

  • Melhor não ter aquário!

  • last year i had an oranda that my father bought it 4 mi and i bought a comet and it cross bred

without me noticing and the next few months......

Fries(but there is onli one) I dont noe why

  • I dont think anybody cares

  • do u have a fiter

  • Yes, that black rectangular thing.

  • 6:19 FISH ARE LIKE ITS A MEARICLE

  • After the clean they actually look happy.lol

  • take the fish out first

  • isn't i better to have the fish acclimate with the new water.

so it better to have the water come in slowly mixed with the 20% of the old water

  • I cannot believe you have those goldfish in tank that small! Big mistake!

  • I have actually seen much worse. The Tetra company makes a good product to deal with all types of algae growth and for a setup like this you might be interested. Would save you from all that unecessary work.

  • younger or older?

  • Slightly younger but we're both old now! :P

  • younger could be understood. like teens or 20's and stuff?

  • HOLY CRAP! that tank is filtiy

  • Your brother is lucky to have you!

Although the fish weren't in any danger by the algae growth, it's unsightly. Minimize the time the lights are on to max 8 hours and add a pouch of Algone Water clarifier. Since you have a submersible filter, you'll need to hand the pouch of Algone on a veggie clip close to the water outflow of the filter and change it every two weeks (6 pouch pack costs under $7 bucks).

You'll never have that algae prob again - guaranteed!

Kudos for what you've done. :-)

  • Thanks for the tip.

With regular water change and cleaning I no longer have any problems with algae. Plus there are now fewer fishes as well.

  • Well, your brother's tank is definitely not overstocked.

I hope you don't do more than 20% each water change twice a week (that's about 2 inches out). More can upset the delicate bio and water balance in your tank, and stress your beautiful fish.

I have a 110 gallon with 13 large Fancy goldfish like ranchus, lionheads, lionchus, and demekins (telescopes). Once I put in the white Estes Marine Sand (not real marine sand) I'll make a video and upload it.

    You're a great brother. :-)

  • Gold fish should be kept in a bowl... This is cruel.

  • keeping fish in a bowl is cruel! any fish, even a beta or guppy should be kept in at least a small aquarium. (with a filter and heater)

  • Filers and heaters are optional unless you live somewhere cold then get a heater

  • Dont listen to any of these american puffs. you dont need a bigger filter and yes your tank is a little over crowded but the reason that the tank got so dirty was because the filter had blocked up and needed replacement pads. I know what I am talking about check out my fish tank?

  • Not to be nitpicky, but an aquarist should *never* replace the filter media unless it's about to fall apart.

The reason is, the majority of your beneficial bacteria lives in your filter media. Since this tank is bare-bottom, it's essential he's careful about his filter media to keep the delicate bio balance in the tank.

Just a quick squeeze or swish in old tank water or treated water (beneficial bact. will die instantly in untreated tap water) is sufficient.

  • your fish are lucky that they are still alive :)

  • I think I would have removed the fish to one of those buckets, dumped all the water. Then scrub out the tank and started completely over instead of stressing out the fish the way you did...
