Can anyone tell me who the announcer is that is voicing all the "KPLR-TV is as much a part of St. Louis as....." promos? This person....whoever he is......was the announcer for just about everything on Channel 11 throughout the 70's and 80's, but I never found out his name.
Grew up watching Lone Ranger, Woody Woodpecker, Battle of the Planets, The Monkees, The Courtship of Eddie's Father, SpiderMan, Batman Live Action Series, Solid Gold, Joker's Wild, Make Me Laugh, The Gong Show, and you can't forget the 12:30 movie every day! Man those were good times! Anybody remember 588-2300 Empire? How could we possibly forget!
How 'bout Sunday Movie One, Two and Three? Awesome TV!
Does anyone remember the opening to the "Super movie" on channel 11 in the early 80's? I think it was the 2001 space oddesy theme. I would love to see this again. I think there was also the "Big" movie.
The list of movies shown at the beginning is why I fell in love with KPLR. I was about 7 years old when I got hooked on KPLR because of the three nightly movies shown from midnight to 6 a.m. (and then The Lone Ranger at 6!). So many great movies I saw for the first time on KPLR...Cabaret, Harold and Maude, MASH, Jesus Christ Superstar and...uh...Brooke Shields in Tilt!
I also loved watching The Muppet Show, Tic Tac Dough and Little House on the Prairie nightly on KPLR.
It's time to put on make up/it's time to dress up right/ it's time to get things started on the Muppet Show Tonight. LOL. I liked The Flying Nun also. And then Bizarre, Puttin on the Hits, Freddy's Nightmares.... So many others.
GENTRY TROTTER...AS I LIVE AND BREATHE!
