The R8 had some of it's design cues taken from the Le Mans edition. They wanted to have that formula car feel in a road car. They did a fantastic job with the design, though it definitely needs more power. It's got a reasonable price tag though. Costs about as much as a new AMV8 Roadster without the markup of course.

They're think about putting the diesel from a Q8 into one, see how that goes be an economical(ish) supercar, its got a similar chassis to the gallardo (also VW owned), but at £70,000 without premium it's meant to compete with gallardo's, carreras etc, but i think it's much more beautiful, ridiculously wide though!

Great work. Audi hired the right people to make this video, and subsequently, do the NY debut. The car however, does not excite me as much as I thought it would. Saw it at the Mid-Ohio ALMS race. I think people will spend their bucks on the Lambo "G" before this, as it is the same footprint with a name rooted in this type of car.

The R8 should theoretically be superior in handling over the M6 yes.

It's car with an RMA (rear midengine, all-wheel-drive) layout which makes it very unique, like a Bugatti Veyron.

So it has advantage in both weight-distribution as in mechanical grip.

And I think it's also lower (compared to a BMW E63/E64) and it has a variable rear spoiler.
