  • The power of Christ compels...

Fuck it, LET THERE BE GUNFIRE!!!

  • They should remake this for 3DS

  • Turok 2 will always be my favorite first person N64 game.

  • The real Doom 3.

  • damn! i miss this game, i grew up to it and these sound effects are dinging my memory back to when this game scared the shit outta me! (still does lol )

  • Are those the laser sounds from the "future war" scene from Terminator 2?

  • Comment removed

  • this was the most scary and best doom back in the day .... doom 3 was great online but it wasnt the same anymore...... best doom if you ask me

  • the intro song sounds kinda like Alison Hell by Annihilator

  • Awesome

  • The later levels have like gothic architectonics. Makes this version unique.

  • itd be awesome if they ported this to the 3ds

  • This reminds me the firts time I play this I was 8 or 9 years old and I run to the kitchen because this game scare the shit out of me lol

  • wow the intro for the 64 is so cool!

  • i remember this game more for its music than anything else

  • I had this game when i was little with resident evil. But i was like 11 year old or something, and i never won of that monster in the beginning. When i said my om that i had nightmares of doom, she wanted me to sell that game because that monster chased me in my dreams like 3 days in a row. I'm now 23 and i can't get any further. I play it on the computer, it's the same as on the Nintendo 64, but it's harder to play.

  • I noticed this music was on the PlayStation version of DOOM, also the sound effects are too

  • Same sound effects, different music.

  • @elbryan42 Made by the same sound developer Aubry Hodges i think. Wished he does it in all the other ports. Thats why PSX Doom and Doom 64 FTW.

  • @elbryan42

True for the most part; Doom 64 did have new music, but some of the melodies are also the same as those in PSX Doom. The reduced samples give an overall 'dumbed down' (for want of a better term) sound to said melodies, but the similarity is noticeable. Examples for easiest comparisons are the tracks used on Altar of Pain/Mt. Erebus, and Watch Your Step/Plant.

  • Yeah, but that's like saying that rap songs that use samples from old songs are the same. ;) The songs may have some similarities, but they're far different IMHO, especially in overall style. The PSX version's music is more structured, the N64's version is more random, in an attempt to be creepier. And Aubrey Hodges accomplished that task in Doom 64 admirably. The music still gives me goosebumps with some tracks. The PSX version does not (though I like the music better overall).

  • Even though many people say that this game sucks, I think this one is why Doom is what it is today.

  • @NateTheGreatSays i wonder if DOOM 4 will be like DOOM 64 or the original PC doom games but the enemies will look exactly like cartoon characters ya know what im sayin

    but doubt it

its gonnah be another highly detailed doom game thats gonnah have better graphics than COD

  • This looks so different to doom. Never seen this version before lol.

  • I remember I got a nintendo 64 at christmas time in 97, & for some reason I chose this game over Goldeneye. It's one of my worst gaming mistakes lol. I remember trying so hard to like this game & convince myself I'd made a good decision. But I just had to face this game was no where near as good.

All this time later though I know I could probably tolerate this game alot more now than I did then. I mean the pc versions of Doom were much better but they also came out along time before.

  • WTF is that noice from 0:49 to 0:55... it stills scary in 2011:)

  • @92augustine demons screaming -_-

  • how open the doors???

  • I have your password xD

  • This looks like it used the Quake I engine and some of the sounds maybe?

  • No, it's totally different. It uses a modified Doom engine, with absolutely no resources from Quake.

  • @elbryan42 the shotguns look like quake but the rest is completely different

quake 1 and 2 are horrible on N64

even the saturn version of quake was better than quake 64

  • @killkenny5000 I liked Quake II on the N64

  • @NateTheGreatSays meh i like the PSX version better

i mean the only good thing about the N64 version is it has completely different levels

    the rest i dont like

    blurred texture

    choppy frame rate

    less architecture

    + no awesome rock music

  • @killkenny5000 What do you mean choppy framerate? This versions framerate is even better that the PSX versions. Blurred textures? That's the case with all N64 games. Less Architecture? It's like Doom 3. it's so much more complex. No rock music, same case with the PSX version. I don't even think you have played this version.

  • @SNESFanboy64 im talking about quake 64 not doom -_-

  • @elbryan42 Which version would you prefer? Doom 64 or Doom PSX?

  • @elbryan42 Really? That's really interesting and surprising. I was thinking the same thing as jnrivers. This game has the atmosphere of Quake 1 (in a good way). I'll have to.. er, aqquire it soon. ;D

  • bought this today for 2 bucks :DDD

  • this game was so much fun, but it always made me feel sick lol

  • This game was basically the same as quake if i can remember, i personally preffered quake and it was not too disimilar to hexen

  • Doom on the pc never felt scary, it was a blast em up action fps, but when I played the 64 version I was scared shitless. It's completely different but I think it was the amped up creepy music and eery ambient sounds that made the difference. More of a precursor to Doom 3 than the action game it had come from.

  • you know? i just had a thought. maybe they should remake this for the 3DS. just update the graphics, attach some 3D character models to the enemies, add some decent online wi-fi deathmatch modes, and it could be a best-seller

  • lol HECTIC... farrkk that was my favorit game as a kid lol

  • This was the reason I bought the N64. I might have to dig this out and have another go of it after seeing this video. It really was superb.

  • wait no fuckin music wtf

  • i wish me my mom and dad had this for n64 when i was about 4

  • Very few words can describe how tragically underrated this game is. Even today I struggle to understand why it never got the overall recognition it so rightfully deserves. The small but clearly talented team over at Midway out-DOOMed id themselves with this masterpiece, this is the real DOOM 3 and I hope id take notes for DOOM 4. Come on id! Show the younger generation why DOOM was, still is and probably always will be the king of FPS's.

  • @xoChrisiskingox yes, DOOM 64 was AMAZING

  • Doom 3 Sucks nothing can top the original Doom Series

  • @AWEDDDD To be fair doom 3 was alright, it just seemed to aim more for the horror feeling than the action kind like the others.

  • Badass Intro

  • I love how the guns dont have kick. that just makes the space marine more awesome

  • when i was like 9 i would play this and it would always scare the living shit ou t of me

  • @rwhyte93 lol me too but then we all grew older and now the scariest game so far i have to say was the first dead space game for 360

  • @rwhyte93 haha you rock

  • This is my first Doom game, man it bring back memories.

  • n64 is the only console that shows intros for the games lolz

  • Nothing beats doom. I like how the 64 version of doom was a bit different to the original. But its still great to play.

  • wow! dude kill 3 monster at fiests

  • best game ever

  • 3:55 Nice, took out a pack of bull demons with your bare hands.

  • I'm getting this game for like five bucks. I can't wait :D

  • What i love about the intro, that the cyberdemon tries to shoot the cameraman

  • This game was buggy: I remember playing level 23 (i think) for hours trying to figure out how to advance because a door wouldn't open due to a bug. Other than that, this was a pretty solid game!

  • i the guy a the bottom looking around in original doom

  • Same sounds from PSX Doom.

  • @metaljohn666 i think it was the best shooter

  • i hate the gane for the music

  • I love how this game doesn't just have something instantly pop up in your face it scares me like "I know nothing is down that corridore, but I still don't want to go through it."

  • that has kinda the same opening as quake 2 on n64

  • @borntokilldiaz96

Speaking of quake, I passed up a copy of Quake and bought Doom 64 and Perfect Dark, do you think I made the right choice or should I have ditched Perfect Dark?

  • @WoWintosh No u made the right decision, in my opinion perfect dark owns the n64 version of quake.

  • cuando haras otro video de doom 64 en algun dias o semanas o meses o años

  • It's good to see they tried with this game, I just didn't care for the music, not to mention the pain of the marine noise just...I just liked the original better, not to mention weapons sounds were inferior to the original PC's. Shoulda just kept those the same, not a bad attempt though still.

  • Doom 64 is like awesome. It scared the living shit outta me when i was wee. I even dared not go through the crushers on lvl 2 because it was soo fucking scary. D:

  • i love findin hectic in the level

  • Wow! The last time I played this game was like 2 years, i think. One of these days, I'm gonna play it again.

  • this game scared the crap outta me bak then when i was a kid

  • I remember coming home from school slam the door open and play this game.. such good memories....except I could never really beat the game and I couldn't play this at night lol way too scary...

  • Seems to start off a lot harder then the original doom series.. is it?

  • This port looks weird. I prefer PSX and PC version more. Especialy PSX because of great music.

  • @Rauser142

    Pretty sure Doom 64 isn't a port.

  • te la sabi por libro

  • i remember watching my old man play this many many years ago when it 1st came out and i was scared as fuck cause of that music but o don't it bring back memories

  • Doom 64. Having a hell of a time trying to find it.

  • DOOOM man, this game looks really DOOMtacular, another epic adventure of the epic DOOM-marine. The Doom graphic of this DOOM game makes other DOOM games looks pretty DOOM. DOOM man, I could sit here and talk DOOM all DOOM long, and how I DOOM it with all these days DOOM clones, DOOM it, I am sick and tiered of all these DOOM clones, DOOM it all to DOOM.

Anyway, good play through, keep it up.

  • with the music and the darkness i find doom 64 scarier than doom 3

  • I used to play this when I was about 10 I was scared shitless never finished the game its way too long

  • this is the best version of doom in consoles it beats the ps1 version

  • I was deeply disappointed that you didn't use the chainsaw.

  • epic game

  • the intro for this game is SO damn cool!

  • When I first played this I couldn't see anything but jail cells.

  • IMHO if they released it on PC back in the day it could be Doom 3, since the official PC Doom 3 sucked monkey balls compared to the originals

  • @OmegaCoolsterDX

Doom 3 wasn't horrible, it just didn't do anything revolutionary like the original. And compared to alot of things that at that point were released, story wise, and gameplay wise it wasn't something we haven't seen before. But I wouldn't say it " sucked monkey balls" .

  • @AxeBlack84 if it had other title then i could forget that it was supposed to be Doom Sequel, but really it has so little in common with the Classic Doom, the game is more horror based than action, the gameplay gets really boring after while, the story... i almost forgot this game even had one (really the more you play it the quicker you forget about the story).

  • @AxeBlack84 and worst of all, The fight with Cyberdemon is so anticlimatic it's ridiculous, look at the Doom 64 this game not only has all elements which made originals so awesome but improves them, better and more creepy graphics, better chainsaw and Unmaker (or whatever that weapon was called), fantastic level design and secrets and most importantly it has imho the Hardest boss in the series (really, Icon of Sin was a Joke of a boss in Doom 2)

  • Dear lord, how did i not have this as a kid, i must buy it now

  • They should put this on xbox 360 arcade. seriously.

  • i wish they would put doom n64 onto the wii shopping channel :(

  • Comment removed

  • Doom 64 is a great game, I'm playing through it now for the first time (just got the cartridge in the mail a few days ago.)

The levels in this game are far more complex and interesting than the crap we see in modern shooters.

  • *sigh*, I remember the times that i play doom when i was a kid.

  • This game still freaks me out to this day, the music and the atmosphere.

A lot scarier then doom 3 ever was.

  • rs music

  • The music in that game was unbelievably eerie.

  • i was playing this game when i was 9 and it was really scary

  • @92augustine Same

  • I think it's more scary in a disturbing way. Because in games like Doom 3 (present day "horror" games) there's too much talking and storyline development. Doom 64 was just mysterious. You never ran into any other characters--which created a feeling of complete isolation. That, paralleled with the satanic images around the levels, created on of the most disturbing game atmospheres ever. Sadly, I don't think we'll be seeing anything like it any time soon.

  • Ah this brings back memories I miss my n64

  • so many memories

  • This is my favorite doom of em all.

  • @Leny1777 No shit man! Doom 1 was the best with the midi music LoL Rules!!

  • qui legal

  • Those Demons were falcon punched to death. X3

  • when you get hurt, its the same sound as nuke when he walk into fire :O

  • @Rue666 erm, mean duke..silly typo

  • this game looks fucking disturbing

  • this is the best version of the old doom, nice graphics, perfect gameplay, good maps.

  • when i started this game everything was dark i didnt see nothing

  • wow i didnt even know there was a doom 64 and ive been a doom freak since 1998

  • Looks like a cross between Doom and Quake

  • Haha he's a southpaw.

  • I had no idea this game was so different.

  • Paper doom... xD.

  • THE most EPIC Level 1 Evar its chuck norris approved

  • being a die hard fan of doom 1 & 2, when i 1st saw this badass mofo intro, of all the marines fighting the cyberdemons and spiderdemons.. it nearly gave me a heart attack cuz none of the previous dooms had intros like that

  • @dhkk43 It's a pity it's not an actual level, that could've been really cool

  • @LegendaryPSR it's very similar to the boss level in DOOM 2, only difference is the player is the only space marine fighting all the monsters on his own

  • Does any suppose this is the best shooter on the n64 besides Duke Nukem and Goldeneye?

  • I think it beats both IMHO. Too bad it didn't have multiplayer due to the scripting and pseudo-3d bridges.

  • @elbryan42

I am a fan of Doom myself but.. i wouldn't go as far as saying it surpassed Goldeneye. And it seems The4noobz forgot to mention Perfect Dark as one of the greatest n64 FPS shooters... Sure it felt more like a revamped version of goldeneye but.. it's multiplayer was godly, full of options.

  • I hate Goldeneye and Perfect Dark myself. They completely neutered the FPS genre for years to come. And I really don't want to get into it and work myself up.

Let's just say that they simplifed the genre and proved that simple equals a bigger audience will buy your game. Thus more money. Up until FPS games came out, there were gameplay innovations every few months. Now it's multiplayer first, innovation second.

  • @elbryan42 Agree totally. While I really like Goldeneye, I enjoyed it both single and multi, the way the genre has gone is downhill. Too much emphasis on short campaigns or poorly thought out mission. Call of Duty Black Ops and Halo Reach stand out a mile. Halo Reach is a really poor game offline and online it is just like Halo 3 in its core form.

  • @elbryan42 Ok, I'm thinking it was Halo 2 that started that philosophy.

PD and GE don't have to be liked by everyone, but they sure as well were innovative....not to mention brilliant design. The campaigns were great fun o-o.

  • @elbryan42 Well, I don't think that's Goldeneye's / Perfect Dark's fault. It's more the fault of an extremely popular franchise known as Call of Duty. I think that's what started the multiplayer first trend, because it proved that developers could make good money on just multiplayer alone.

  • But, those games DID drastically simply the genre. And sold a ton regardless of inventiveness or innovation. Before Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, FPS's at the time had flying and swimming (not to mention jumping), scripting, destructible environments, easy to use inventory systems, interconnected levels that you can revisit, high interactivity, real physics systems, alternate firing modes, full 3D movement, countermeasures, morphing environments, etc.

  • @elbryan42 Your forgetting this is one of the very few games that is playable with the d pad and I mean first person shooters lol.

  • @elbryan42

I was wondering why this game didn't have multiplayer.. Though I think they could've at-least made Deathmatch maps. That wouldn't require any scripting or pseudo-3d. but still this is an excellent game.

I wonder if it'll ever be on some sort of classic arcade with full multiplayer support.

  • @nooblet911 Ah, why because the marine in this one was more hardcore, and that too he was black. I loved the ending how he choose to stay in hell and become the regulator.

  • maybe I was too harsh but I think this version is good only on paper

  • Comment removed

  • @nooblet911 np to me though this being my first game ever played and beat at the age of four I love it to death plus i played and finished the original dooms and i liked this doom better due to its ambiance. I do alot of doom building and play ZDaemon and Skulltag and Odamix because due to all 4 doom will NEVER die! p.s. I LOVE DOOM! (And Doom64!) but Doom 3...no

  • @elbryan42 Doom64 EX (Kaiser's reverse engineer/port of the Doom 64 engine) allows for multiplayer, which I would LOVE to try out sometime.

  • @the4noobz It doesn't come close to Goldeneye, but is much better than Duke

  • @LegendaryPSR Better than Duke?

  • @the4noobz I was never a fan of the Duke Nukem games, although it's editor on the PC version has proved very useful to me

  • @the4noobz u forgot perfect dark :O

  • @the4noobz I'd go for Perfect Dark on Nintendo 64. Basically a spiritual sucessor to GoldenEye, but with loads of new features. Story is kinda hard to understand, but who plays shooters for the story anyway? Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are pretty awesome too once you get the hang of the controls.

  • @Lupucillo Perferct Dark sucks man!! what the hell?!! why everybody thinks it's the best game? It really sucks it's just a copy of other games, It's NOT original, It's the same thing ever!!

  • @the4noobz Agree

Duke Nukem is my favorite on the N64 games, I was a kid when I played all this stuff, I was totally a noob but today I download these games and I play them like a PRO xD

  • @the4noobz TUROK!!!!!!

  • @the4noobz Don't forget Perfect Dark.

  • @the4noobz ... Perfekt Dark... and if you want so: Conkers bad fur Day?

  • Do i need a Controller pack to save in this game? Also, i i do, is there a password option in it?

  • Nope, you don't need a controller pack. There's passwords. But saving is easier.

  • @elbryan42 Whew, where i live, controller pak:s arent being sold on the net shop i use, on the other had, i was thinking about buying the PSX Version of DOOM, is that any better than this, ive heard that it is, in a way, it has Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II - Hell on Earth wrapped on it. :D Btw, i subbed you just for answering my question. Thanks. :3

  • Thanks for subbing. :)

I personally prefer the PSX version. It has tons of content, and controls better. On the other hand, the N64 version is creepy as hell, and is more of an immersive experience. Depends if you want a blast fest or a creepy experience.

  • nice music

  • Even though Doom I & II will always be my favorites, Doom 64 is just as violent and has an extremely evil atmosphere, amazing nostalgia.

  • This game is fucking crazy compared to the original!

  • Jingle bells shotgun shells the doom guy is dead...

  • It would be sweet if they did a sequal to doom 64 on the wii called something like doom 128.

  • 3:45 FALCON PUNCH!!!! XD

  • Funny how the dos version was going to be ported but it never happen.

  • I remember this intro scared the shit out of me back in '97

  • i still play this game

  • Lol i have this emulated :D

  • A friend of mine came with this one night. He fell asleep on the sofa and I took the shotgun and walked my way through Hell all night up until daylight. After I got myself a copy, some months after, I played it over and over for years; couldn't let it away. Like morning jogging. The levels were getting VERy EASY.

  • very good video, I find it strange that there is suvido videos playing Doom 64 tc absolution, you were part of the project for many years, not you, well, just look hehe, greetings

  • their were only 2 games me and my brother played alot on the 64 this and Starfox to bad ass games that are still being played to this day!!!!

  • woah game looks kick ass

  • this is the halo of the 90's.

  • Comment removed

  • @jpaik1221

    I disagree,

Doom was revolutionary. Halo is just over a over hyped space shooter with a good story and great music. Doom was, and still is not over hyped. The game still holds up even to this day.
