Ubuntu Software Centre is nowhere near finished yet... Yes it does suck... and they shouldn't introduce it until its finished... But more features and Ui is going to be added in the future
In Software Center you CAN install another package while a package is installing. But it still sucks, because you have to click sooooooo much fracking buttons. Even if you're a n00b, better use Synaptic to install shit.
just my opinion as stated on title, u dont have to like it. I Never said i didnt like them doing free software. see ur making something up from nothing that i said loL. Good one son. And ur previous comments u agree with my points so seems like u dont like me personally not that u disagree with my points. Which means u got nothing son.
loL if i didnt use it then why im making a video about it? Wasting time going back and fort to queue apps is not wat i consider installing multiple shits. Ur installing one and u go getting another, vs the checkboxes select all and go watch TV or someshit. See the diff dummy?
Dude just go calling it a piece of shit and I wont get defensive.Take a look at the ways its better.
There is room for improvement for sure. The thing I like is this I don't have to wait for it to get done installing one app before I select more to install.Just dont go bashing peoples hard work and think nobody will call you an asshole.
yea seems like u dont do that urself? or for that matter everyone. Why dont u go defend other OS when they say windows sucks? or mac sucks? why only defend linux? Dont their OS got hard working ppl also?
In the software center they should put a quick install button by the button you click to view more info. (The one with the -> arrow on it.) They should put a button just to the left of it with a down arrow, for download, and have it be a quick install, and just have it add to the queue without jumping to the queue page. That way if you ever need to, you can just go click, click, click down the list, without interruption.
Software center is to replace the Add/Remove function. I agree with you. Being able to purchase paid apps from the center would be awesome, but imo: apt-get > all
First, you aren't REQUIRED to use the Software Center. You can use it if you want. Otherwise you can use synaptic, etc. if you want the functionality you mention. Second, why the hell would it be good for paid apps if it's NO GOOD for free apps? I don't get it. Third, I don't know that many people who often install multiple programs at once. Sure, people do it, but not enough to care much about it. But anyway, synaptic is still there to do it!
never said was require. paid apps ur paying, free apps u check all the shits u want without worrying how much it will cost. Sure u do when u install ur distro u check all ur favorite packages all at once and it installs while u go do other shits. I already no the synaptic is there that wasnt the point of the video. The Center is going to replace it in the future.
I agree with ya TOTALLY !!! Personally ... I use Synaptic ^_- With Ubuntu & Debian ! Or even the terminal with apt-get . I hope they don't take Synaptic out of Ubuntu with this new "Software Center" . If they do then I'm goin' back to Debian full time . GREAT vid !!!
You're complaining because "thats more clicking than you should have to do" ?! The main complain on Linux is automation, and this is a step to that direction. What are you worried about so much anyway? Ubuntu has new releases every year, change will always come, if you can't handle change then this isn't the OS for you maybe.. Plus no one said this would replace Add/Remove or Synaptic..
yes they will, go read there plans to make it the default by 10.04 LTS, donno ur point the addremove is fine unless u can explain otherwise. who said all changes were good? u act if this is my 1st time using it
It's just that you were swearing and constantly calling it stupid which is really inconsiderate(especially calling them idiots). It's not easy to make software but these guys even go as far as making it free. Plus with change as often as it comes the software center can be made better than it is, which is why Ubuntu is currently leading, they keep improving. Sorry I didn't know they planned to replace the current default.
seems like u had a personal problem with my language and not my point. If thats the case, it doesnt change what it said wasnt true. I never said anything about not liking them doing free stuff, all i said was a bad design as of now. I never said it was the final version and yes i do wish they change it. I was only talking about the SoftwareCenter wasnt talking about the whole distro. Ppl express their opinions differently, if u dont like it, thats none of my business cuz thats ur opinion.
Hey Needs some help .Bought from dell desktop studio xps 435 I7 and try put mint and ubuntu but graphic card has some issue. What do you recommend for dell desktop that will work perfect or which one OS?? thx
on this point mate you are very correct,it is a step back in my opinion also,we (linux user's) need to be weening them off the old habits that slow everything down, not just pandering to them.
all the new linux users i have are totally cool with it all within about a week, and don't want to go back.
frankly, i couldnt care less for all this because when I'm in ubuntu or mint, i just use aptitude. rarely i'd use mintinstall if the version is newer there... or i'd use synaptic if i'm searching for an app and need to read the detailed description.
But u have a point. if aptitude, an ancient ncurses app can queue packages for installation... this is a step backwards. I have never used app center, but maybe you're missing something. well at least i hope so...
i heard they were creating a program that would allow you to download multiple programs at the same time... its rather sad, but for now im sticking with xp, i worked with ubuntu but i could never get it to be compatible with my wireless card.
what do you think about eye os?
i downloaded it as a zipped file but could never get my laptop to work with it (its using kubuntu right now)
what wireless card do you have? i think most common wireless cards can be made to work under linux. You might have to use closed drivers or even the windows drivers but most will work.
well right now i dont know what wireless card i have, its been a while... a long while... i have this program called belarc adviser that i can install on it and it could tell me but the only problem is, belarc adviser might not be compatible with kubuntu. can i use knosol (command prompt for kubuntu) to find out what my wireless card is?
how would i get it to work any ways? ive already tried numerous codes and changing so many settings. and support for kubuntu and ubuntu sites aren't so great.
If you are using XP you should be able to see what wireless card you have under Hardware management or devices... not so sure.
In Linux run this in terminal to list all PCI devices:
lspci
Run this to list all hardware:
sudo lshw
Youtube is not the best place to give help. But if you post the info/output from those commands on a forum and ask for help you should be able to get a helpful answer.
You can find me on the ubuntu forums with the same name... just tell me if you post there.
I agree with you about the check-boxes facility. I would rather them take the time and fix the few bugs in ubuntu before thinking about making something that's already there.
I think if your so smart and you know whats best then you should come out with your own linux distro and then let me rip it to shreds lmfao.
