If you know about some of the older texts, the 'God' you hear now was named 'Yoway.' He was supposedly seen as 'Zues' and other polytheistic gods. One story from some of the texts was that he went down to earth and cheated on Ashira with Mary. This isn't uncommon for most Polytheistic Gods because many times they'd go to earth and sleep with moral women.
