Try around 200-300 feet per second.

Yeah it may sound bad to a pansy or something but with gravity and air pressure affecting the projectiles, they drop off WAY earlier than 200 miles.

Learn 2 math? And no it doesnt take a jet engine to make a car go 200mph... it takes a jet engine to make a car go 763mph (which is the current land speed record as of '97). Also on another note, the fastest pitch in baseball is 107.9mph. Why couldnt a paintball go faster?

Still though they care fire up to or past 420fps if turned all the way up on some which is way way way faster then 200mph =p. 420 fps could kill you. It will definitely go through paintball netting =p.

As for not being a toy. On every marker i own it says in raised text that you can not remove, save using a grider, "NOT A TOY, READ MANUAL BEFORE USE! MISUSE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!"

-Controlling Uncooperative or Violent Suspects

-Standoff Situations

I'm sorry but hippoianmage has a point, people often handle paintball guns as though they are toys, but they're considered to be sporting equipment. Besides, on the package and on the side of just about every paintball gun it says, "This is NOT a toy. Misuse may cause injury or death.

Even if they didn't put such a clear disclaimer, I personally would consider something that fires objects over 190 miles per hour as something a tad beyond the title of a toy, but that's just me.

I see where you're going at, but the size of the object doesn't matter, it's the material. Paintballs are just gelatin capsules with paint in them, so that's not exactly a very solid argument, but they have killed people. Even though the people using them obviously weren't being careful.

It is not a 6mm ball, 6mm ammo is used in air soft. paintballs are 68cal. If you base ammo size on the toy factor then a 9mm handgun would be a toy. paintball ammo is LARGER than a 50cal sniper rifle.
