i hate to inform you guys but i have a mate who is a tuna fisherman out of Port Lincoln in South Australia and he's speared and caught bluefin tuna over 50lbs on many many occasions. I'll get some photos and send it to you. He obviously had no idea about world records. He speared 1 once that was around 5 feet long but lost it and everything else when a big 16 ft white pointer came from beneath and attacked the tuna and took off with it and his gun
nice, he's spearfishing off key west about 60 to 90 miles in the gulf where the shrimp boats fish and dump their by catch. large schools of bonita and blackfin tuna along with cobia follow the boats. easy spearing but lots of sharks. my biggest was 34 lbs and i have the pics to back it up but that was with my wong not a pole spear so hats off to you for the pole spear cameron. this is a trip every diver should try to exprience
Congratulations!!! Awesome catch! Which part of Gulf you were at? And how far out? I usually go out of Galveston, Freeport, Sargeant or Matagorda. Furthest out was 90 miles (my friends boat is just 22 ft long). And I would like to shoot tuna. Amin!
good catch, one problem i have with how you handeled it though. imo put the fish out of its misery asap. don't just hold it and let the fish be alive while you video yourself holding him. congrats again though
this is a shit game. jackass, this is not a world record. You might as well fish in a pot,, kill the fish with high voltage in water and call it a world record.
@daddylionn dude get your facts straight its not like that fish and school come by by human force it is a natural school and that is a hard thing to do with bad shots, sharks and other difficulties to land a tuna
I doubt you've ever been spearfishing. I've been a few times with a pole spear. It's difficult to get close enough to the fish to spear them. They're very leery and swim away at the sign of anything weird. There's also the challenge of being able to hold your breath, being something that is cumulative and needs to be worked on to improve capacity and ability.
wow, you're a true hero! a "shooting" world record, bravo! this has nothing to do with spearfishing in my opinion. this is just retarded. ..hey, lets shoot some wales or dolphins too, or get some elephants killed, maybe thats a record too? ..sad, thats just sad
1. Make a mark on your floatline were it would be when you have the spear fully cocked. Before you draw up the band reach back with your shooting hand and grab the floatline at the mark and then the band. 2. Hold the band like you normal do, then place the floatline in your shooting hand and draw them both together. You'll get some resistance from the floatline but you can figure how to do it quickly. Having the floatline tied to the band is the easiest route.
Congrats on sticking it with a pole. Not sure on where the floatline is when your shooting the spear but if you have it connected to the rear of the spear you'll want the floatline in your shooting hand. This will help with drag and the floatline won't come into play until the end of the spear is past your hand when fired. There are two ways of doing this.

Actually, I have. With a pole spear. For quite a few years. A lot depends on the fish. As much as on the diver. It's more a stunt than a feat.

This shit is fucken easy as he'll
U fucken just stay on the surface and u don't have to hold your breath because the fish is right in front of you because u chummed the water
Shoot the fish and don't fight it cause your spear is attatched to the buoy or some floating device
