I recommend loop antennas....just be careful what frequencies you pull on. Do not use ones already being broadcast on (white noise). Some frequencies will produce more power then others. As said be careful...Play lots with crystal radios before going all the way.

Make a crystal radio. There are some really good designs for self powered transistor amps. Then look up Tesla Air Cavitation Radiant Energy Generator.

Better electrolytic, V & freq are important; insulated plate: the higher the better. Absolutely no house GND ! ;-)

Is there some reason why it must be an electrolytic cap? If so, do you know why that is? Also, are the voltage and capacitance of the cap very important?

Finally, I thought it was only supposed to work that well when the insulated plate was elevated high above the ground. Are you just using the ground on your house circuits?
