for morote defense: see if block his lapel arm and try to get the inside grip of the lapel. then it will be hard to get in with the the shoulder.

for ippon seio defense: get two hand grip and if he attacks put your hand on his back to block his entry.

as a seio fighter this is some of the problem i encounter.

Always keep a high grip on his lapel (right on right grip) so if he drops into seoi, you can transition into a hell choke or circle out to transition into osaikomi.

I am so old that the Knee drop seoi nage was ilegal. I am also tall and stand straight so I am exposed to it often. I was ilegal because when youths did it there was the posibility of uke landing on head and hurting neck. Does anyone know a defense for it?

I started working on drop knee seoi nage a while ago and used it during a competition, it works 2/3 of the time but it also put ALOT of pressure on ur knees atm i have a bleeding in my knee but thats prolly cuz i didnt strenghten my knee enough^^, for using drops techniques u rly have to make ur knees strong first and strect like hell or u will get problems in the future^^

It's really more timing and technique, his opponents provided most of the momentum. You can attempt to do a seoinage or uchi mata with full power and still not get the throw if your timing is off.
