Sub genres are helpful and help me find things that i like based on similar characteristics, if subgenres didn't exist this would be called rock.

for instance i love this and most other deathcore, but i really don't like a lot of metalcore. but if it were all just called metal i'd have to sift through endless bands i hate to find good bands. people don't need to fight over it though -_-

As I've said to many people as example Judas Priest doesn't sound anything like Devourment. And Necrophagist sound nothing like Possessed. And Putrid Pile sound nothing like DarkThrone. Thus subgenres being born. I don't to argue kids on Youtube about what genre a band is though. Because if someone labels something wrong, I'll just ignore what they say because they're not controllling MY itunes library genre labeling. But yes, sub genres do exist.

@deadspartan0 It is very different if you compare it to early Death Metal such as Death. Death, in my experience, didn't even use a low growl, it was very much a mid growl. Death Metal has changed a lot, and shouldn't really be compared to Deathcore due to the fact they are two different things that fall under the same category; Metal. If people like Deathcore and Metalcore they are still technically Metalheads, however to what extent is what people argue over.
