I had a lot of fun with this video. The tour of Detroit was great. A street named Berry Gordy Boulevard WOW. The world famous Hitsville USA. I got a natural high listening to this original version of this Donald Byrd classic. Kudos for playing the ALBUM that had signs of wear (ticks , pops and surface noise)
I can only speak on Danny Roundfield. Watched him play at Central Michgan LIVE(we only lived 6 miles from the CMU) and OH my goodness what a joy of a player to watch. Back then you couldn't dunk in college ball, but if Central was ahead by enough, Danny would bring the thunder!
I heard that Danny lives in Atlanta now. His brother,Kevin Roundfield played at Mackenzie High School. The same school that produced Jerome Bettis,Pepper Johnson & Gilbert Brown. Kevin is a cracked out bum now. He was better than Danny!
We both came out the same year in high school. He was from Mackenzie and I was from Cooley. Yes! I am going to take this video off & re-do it shortly.
I agree, the politics here are geared for the very wealthy to reside here in the near future with their hidden housing developments that the average working person can not afford. They are letting the working & lower class neighborhoods go down so that they can get the land for cheap. Look in the Detroit News Real estate section, you can buy a nice house now for $7,000.00 - $12,900.00! But 99.9% of our credit is shot to hell!!
Very good video and tribute to the great trumpeter Donald Byrd. Thanx for posting & the info. I did not know that Donald was a Detroit native.I hope Detroit has a Donald Byrd Ave..
Ironic how the bird flew right at the start...
