Well if he were the kind of Elf commander with that kind of mentality he would have surely beaten Isildur and taken the ring for himself.

Seriously why didn't Elrond just push Isildur into the fires of Mount Doom or cut off his arm & throw it in, it would've of been for greater good, also there was no witnesses around either. I mean he knew the devastating effects the one ring had, he knew that it threatened the lives of all the peoples of middle earth... and he just lets Isildur walk away with the ring. So i think everything that happened from that moment onward whether directly or indirectly was basically all Elrond's fault.

@UchihaGamer111 - Actually you're right, Saruman perfected the Orcs. He bread the race of Orcs and Men to make the Uruk Hai. They could walk in Sunlight, something Sauron's Orcs cannot. Too bad Peter Jackson never made that apparent, because the Battle for middle Earth is in day light. When in the book Sauron blackens the whole sky for his army. Also the Uruk Hai follow orders like soldiers, where as without a Nazgul or Captain, the Orcs would just kill each other.

@Juliz spend some time in da books dude...sauron perfected nothing, he only made his own breed of uber orcs...sauron had uruks of his own, the so called black orcs, they're portrayed in movies as well, the battle for minas tirith has truckloads of mordor uruks, the big guys that stormed out of the siege towers, normal orcs are smaller than a normal man but an uruk is as big and equally as strong as a man cause uruk-hai in the dark tongue means (orc-man or man-orc)

@Juliz the orcs would not slaughter each other, the witch king commanded the orcs who laid siege to minas tirith and his top lieutenant (in the movie at least) was a fella named gothmog (morgoth's (sauron's master) chief balrog was named gothmog as well, a balrog is what gandalf fought and fell with into the chasm of khazad dum but gothmog was bigger and meaner)...orcs were organized into tribes and each tribe had a chief, in such a brutal society only the strong survive

@alundor I don't think the ring was enhancing his power but the ring does naturally corrupt anyone who touches it. It gives regular creatures longer life, but it doesn't make them stronger or anything. The only one who can unlock the rings power is Sauron, and i'm sure Sarumon and Gandalf could get some of the power. But it would have been useless for Isildor, just like Aragorn told Boromir.
