This pedal is not the best drive unit on the market. But it certainly is the most versitile. The trick is you have to spend time to properly EQ each pedal model. The right EQ on one setting usualy sounds horrible on another. Over all worth the money if you can find a good deal on it. Got mine used for $45!!
I have a question... I own a Digitech RP-90 (multi effects pedal) I'm wondering if I can buy one of these and add it to my setup, and use both (I mean rp90 + Distortion Factory).... could there be any issues? thanks to anyone who answers xP

Digitech's distortion emulations are great! I have the RP250 and the RP155 and the sounds are good enough to replace the originals. I use the Rat and the TS-808 emulations on both of them. I turn off cabinet emulation though...
@minibikedude04 I use the Twin Tube as well but you're talking about a different type of pedal. Twin Tube ads alot of warmth but is more of an overdrive than a distortion...
idk they sound PRETTY similar soI think the DF-7 should beboguht cuzyou can get more tones that are almsot the same as the original pedals it ripped off
hey, nice post. i have the same DF7 I Iike it sound. it has more control of sound. normaly i use it in the drive channel of my amplifier for a more crunch tone.

Well I would say the DF-7 sounds like the Rat, and as a bonus, it has more EQ options.

Thanks for this comparison!
DF-7 is boosting upper mids a db
makes it sound louder,clearer,etc
VERY similar tone though eh!!! lol
Nice one digitech, I own the DF-7
Of course you can also tweak the shit out of the DF-7, much more than any of the original pedals, lower noise too
Axeman2006 2 years ago
I actually prefer the DF-7; the midrange sounds richer to me.

wow thats close i reckon the digitech has thicker mids but its a real descent attampt

Thank you ! Great video! =) I also have a distortion factory and it's worth having if you don't play hard rock or anything heavy!
The ts-9 is a great simulation!
