First of all this was a staged event by the political group zDRP the divided faction of party DRP. The zDRP group is in support of former dictator Maumoon. Who is lately been accused of involved in an international money laundering racket worth of 800 million....

It is the same as the rally's by supporters of Dictator Gaddafi, not democratic but to gain or remain in power. Fact 1: The rally was announced using loud speakers on vehicles belonging to the ZDRP. 2: Also leaded by their MP'S . And the reason they say Govt's decision on a US$ floating rate. IMF responded "the government’s bold step represents an important move toward restoring external sustainability."

continued.. however the zDRP group is continuing violent rallies after 11pm :) in some cases throwing stones at the police. Calling " bring the dollar rate down / fixed rate" . They don't call for, how or what to do to fix the problem and put an end to the $ black market. This simply shows that they don't even have a plan. They should think of a solution, come to negotiation. Although the police can detain the arrested for 24 hrs they are being released within 4hrs.

That wasnt a peaceful protest, i was there in Aminiya as well as near Nasandhura. It was violent and some DRP candidates were deliberately trying to get arrested. thank god police was patient compared to the times of Gayyoom.
