I don't understand all the hate for this movie, maybe it's just because I've seen it in hungarian where there was no accent but the voice acting there was badass. Oh well

Now, now! everything this guy is doing is Intended to be a tribute to the old Dracula movies! But even with this outdated acting you can feel how this poor guy feels! And anyway this movie is worlds away from most of today's vampire movies! This movie has action and dramatic scenes that are to be admired! I kind of disagree. Richard does have a sexiness around him but the whole fake Lugosi ( the undisputed Dracula) accent, look, dance and CGI ruins the effect for me. I enjoy this, but to me the acting and atmosphere were much better in the b&w classics. There's just a power and mystery in them CGI can't replace. Movies like this, Underworld, Blade etc are enjoyable and better than Twilight, but their pretty silly too.
Are you kidding me? This is a great scene and Richard Roxburgh plays a very convincing Dracula. As for his accent, he is of Australian origin and is acting to be Romanian. He does a damn good job at it too.
It's not that, if you listen to the script his so called "no emotions" is evident in his acting. It contradicts his good acting juxtaposed against a morbid script that is suggestive of a lack of emotion and power. It's just a bad direction the director and script writers took.

Yes he has intense emotions in acting, but all the emotions he wishes to have he can not have. I think he gets the emotion of irritation and anger and a hit of sadness as you can see.
You missed the point. I have nothing against his acting, his words vs. body language and language don't mix well, they don't seem to contradict, because they do contradict.
The only thing I liked is the black&white intro in the beggining of the movie. Dracula was so annoying I was happy when he died. His whiney wives were more annoying than him. Frankenstein sounded like an over the top retired stage actor. It's a shame 'cause this movie could of been a lot better, Maybe with luck it will be remade like so many other movies.

Here in Germany, the book is out of print as the movie is about 6 years old. However, I found (and bought) it on amazon just about a week ago. Have a try there?!? But don't expect a real "novel". This book was made according to the movie's script so it is more like a written "summary". ... that I enjoyed reading anyway :-).

I might sympathize with this, if but a few reasons. One: Gremlins hatched from eggs, and if you think Gremlins suck, then you are out of your fucking mind.

Um, if you are referring to the movie, they came from cocoons, not eggs. The mogwai that they mutated from reproduced by budding when water landed on them. Where you are getting that they hatched from eggs, I do not understand. Besides...gremlins have nothing to do with vampires, silly.

Hahah, I love this scene! It may be over-acted, but I think that was the direction they wanted to take it -- made the movie feel more like an old-timey horror movie.
You gotta love when he does that little flourish coming out of his coffin :D

I completely agree with kurukururock... This scene doesn't suck, I actually LOVEEEE Van Helsing, and Richard Roxburgh as Dracula, but lol, the little dancey thing he does made me laugh :P
Dude.... DRACULA IS SEXY.. and yes, he's supposed to be overreactive otherwise why the hell would they put the little dance thing in anyway? This movie was awesome, and I don't think you have any right to repost a scene just to make fun of it. In fact, I'm flagging it.

I kind of disagree. Richard does have a sexiness around him but the whole fake Lugosi ( the undisputed Dracula) accent, look, dance and CGI ruins the effect for me. I enjoy this, but to me the acting and atmosphere were much better in the b&w classics. There's just a power and mystery in them CGI can't replace. Movies like this, Underworld, Blade etc are enjoyable and better than Twilight, but their pretty silly too.

Are you kidding me? This is a great scene and Richard Roxburgh plays a very convincing Dracula. As for his accent, he is of Australian origin and is acting to be Romanian. He does a damn good job at it too.

It's not that, if you listen to the script his so called "no emotions" is evident in his acting. It contradicts his good acting juxtaposed against a morbid script that is suggestive of a lack of emotion and power. It's just a bad direction the director and script writers took.

... SO you want him to walk around emo? How boring and not Dracula like... Yes, it may seen contradictory, but not really actually. Yes he has intense emotions in acting, but all the emotions he wishes to have he can not have. I think he gets the emotion of irritation and anger and a hit of sadness as you can see.

The only thing I liked is the black&white intro in the beggining of the movie. Dracula was so annoying I was happy when he died. His whiney wives were more annoying than him. Frankenstein sounded like an over the top retired stage actor. It's a shame 'cause this movie could of been a lot better, Maybe with luck it will be remade like so many other movies.

I agree and disagree. Dracula is awesome and so is better than Edward. But Edward it a cool name, its just been abused my Twilight. Think of the main character on DayBreakers. His name is Edward too and he's a pretty cool vampire.

Here in Germany, the book is out of print as the movie is about 6 years old. However, I found (and bought) it on amazon just about a week ago. Have a try there?!? But don't expect a real "novel". This book was made according to the movie's script so it is more like a written "summary". ... that I enjoyed reading anyway :-).
