Im a shelter volunteer and socialize pits regularly. Never had a problem with any, we play kinda the way you do in the video. I see new pits and I approach and they just want love, thanks for posting.
dogs play with their mouths....its natural. as long as they are taught who it is ok to do it on and when theyre doing it too hard itll be okay. i have an american bull. and she loves to wrestle but she neveeerrr hurts me or even my little nephews.

that is soooo cute. Looks like my sister's dog Sonny. He grabs my wrist the same way when I go over to visit. My friend's German Shepard also grabs my wrist like that (without hurting of course); I thinks it's their way of showing affection. Humans have kissing; and dogs (some) grab your wrist like that and they know NOT to bite it hard.
@pat2004tbird the german shepherd "mouths" the wrist because he is a shepherd and shepherds only do that because its part of herding., mine does it too.A shepherd will "mouth" at someones wrist or lightely bite or snap at someones ankles when running. thats why its not a good idea to get a shepherd breed with small children in the house unless the person is experience with dogs, or dog training.
I have owned pit bulls and they are loving. It is how you raise them if you raise them to be mean then that is what you have. And how they are stereotyped in movies and videos also does not help...and young men having a pit bull to make you look tough is ignorant you know who you are!!!!!!

Pits are awesome. Really calm, loving, trainable dogs. They have a bad reputation because when trained to fight are very dangerous--but the key there is TRAINED TO FIGHT. Chows, spaniels, dalmatians, even poodles are far more aggressive and high strung.
Adorable! My only issue is that Pits should be taught that it's never okay to put their teeth on anyone - even playfully. Unfortunately, this world is full of people who would like to see my favorite breed destroyed, and will report something as fun and playful as "mouthing" as a "Pit Bull bite/attack".
@Ten13Grl Thats the thing though all dogs no matter the breed do that when playing. But if a pitbull does that its blown way up. Mine bites and all that but he is still a puppy too but he only does that with playing with me or my parents no one else.And to be honest for such a "violent" breed my pit bull is scared of like everything.

It sucks that Pits are put under society's microscope and judged for every little thing that they do, but the only way that will stop is if every Pit Bull owner makes sure that their best friend is an ambassador for their breed.
@Ten13Grl Oh yeah. As owners we are the only ones who can show the world these dogs don't attack or bite just because. They are one of the sweetest breeds I've ever owned or been around. And I can honestly say the BSL laws and all that are stupid and wrong. My puppy would never hurt another dog or person yet the dashound I own will. She has growled and almost tore into another dog. I hope all of us as owners can give these amazing dogs the chance they deserve and help clear their name.

@ines5791 It's actually really easy to get rid of. You simply stop playing with them when they do, and walk away. They very quickly learn that "putting my teeth on someone means they won't play with me" and they stop doing it.

@Lolita5025 I don't disagree with that in any way, but it's of vital importance to for a Pit Bull owner to do so because of the reputation this breed has. If the tooth of a Pit Bull lands of the wrong person, that dog then gets a history of "biting" and the odds of it getting destroyed increase significantly. Very few people actually report Chihuahua bites (as is show by the fact that they're not slap bang at the top of the list of biting dogs in any report).
@Ten13Grl Well, with that I'm totally with you. My brother has a Bully and she's sweet as pie, but in the neighborhood where he lives people let their dogs run loose all the time and I am SO afraid of what will happen if one of them gets caught up by her.
She's fabulous with dogs she knows, but there's a Shi tzu that will follow her during walks that just annoys her, she's on a leash and the little one isn't but I KNOW which one will get into trouble if that furball gets too close!
@Ten13Grl Opposite of my brother's sweet Bully is my mom's Chihuahua who's bitten SIX people, but none of them ever reported it. That tiny dog scares the snot out of me (I have 3 tiny children) but nothing will ever be done about it.
I trust the Pit Bull with any of my kids, keep an eye on them of course, but I won't even visit my mom's unless her Chihuahua is locked up!

@NomNom126 I've said a few times already that no breed should be allowed to put their teeth on anyone. The reason I stress the importance of not allowing your Pittie to do it is because if the tooth of your Pit winds up touching the skin of the wrong person, your Pit stands a much higher chance of being killed.
Yes, this is unfair, but if we want our breed to survive these times (like so many other breeds have done), then we have to be extra careful and ensure our dogs are perfect ambassadors.
@Ten13Grl When a dog either puts your arm or your hand in their mouth it's actually a sign of affection its like their way of giving kisses my pit mix does the same thing and she never clamps down. Pits have always been my favorite breed of dog and always will be. It's really ashame that people turn these dogs into monsters because they're actually one of the sweetest family dogs you can have :)

It doesn't matter if your Pittie doesn't "clamp down", all that matters to a moron is that your Pit put their mouth on someone. All that it will take for your dog to get destroyed is for them to put their mouth on the wrong moron.
Actually, all it would take for your Pit to be killed is to accidentally scratch the wrong moron (by either tooth or claw).

I have a pit/rot mix and an american bulldog, i play the same way with both of them and they both will go to grab my arm but will never bite down they will just hold my arm and slobber all over it.
He kinda looks like my dog but he's shorthaired like pit bulls and he has a totally red mouth. If my dog was short haired and had no black in his mouth, he'd look a LOT like this doggy here. My dog is 50% labrador 25% apbt and 25% chow. THIS dog is a pit bull!

At the animal center where I work, there is a blue/cinnamon pitbull in need of immediate adoption. He is housebroken, and a big sweetheart. people need to read books. They always say that pitbulls are normally DOCILE and playful. Here I'll even give them a book to look it up in. Encyclopedia of Dog breeds: second edition- page 160

@shangoshun ALL dogs are unpredictable. I met people who have been injure by labs, golden, etc. And most of the time a pit-bull attack is actually another breed that looks similar. And I don't know if you know this but there was a six week old little girl who was killed by her families Pomeranian. That's enough proof that any breed of dog is unpredictable

reminds me of my favorite dog in the world, Boris. Boris passed away a few weeks ago from kidney failure. He was about 14. He was much better looking than your boy (no offense; to me he was the best looking dog in the world :). He was dark brown (looked black), with a white chest, and white stripes on his head and neck. He was a rescued pit. He was the greatest dog ever. I really miss him. Thanks for sharing this moment with your boy :)
I agree with the comment above! I used to deliver schwans to houses, and had a couple pitbulls on my routes! They were the biggest babies I knew! LOL! One of my favorite dogs would sit at his window and watch me at the neighbors and I could hear him whining in the house. He would greet me at the door! Its the bad owners that mistreat these creatures! Heck I had more trouble with Labs than with the Pit bulls.

@thexskating Well, but according to the CDC 32% of the fatalities attributed to to dog attack between 1979–1998 involved pitbulls (pitbull ownership isn't anywhere near 32%). So, evidently, those meaner dogs in the world aren't killing people quite as often. Rottweilers are #2. I agree that dogs are pets more likely to want to be sweet than aggressive. It's just too bad that many of the mean people are choosing the type of dog you like and making them mean. That must be frustrating.
pit bulls are great family dogs. it is the owners who make them go bad. even the michael vick pits are good dogs. one of them is a service dog now and most of the others are have been adopted by families. just google "michael vick service dog". they are not by nature attack dogs. it takes an idiot to make them one, and even then a good owner can change them back.

However, small dog jwas can do some nasty damage too. It is all who is holding the leash and not the dog. They are just the pions in the system called "predjiduce". And I am not saying this to suck up... Experiance of years with dogs with behaviour problems due to their owners... It is the owner, not the dogs.

If more people showed videos like this pits could be saved. They are wonderful pets, loving and sweet. Mine ( R.I.P. Titan) sounded like he was killing me when we rough housed but he never even put any pressure on my arm when he "bit" me. He was 87 pounds of evil looking dog that let the cats have his bed and washed their heads. Pits are amazing, beautiful, loyal and smart. Wish everyone could see them through a pit bull owners eyes.
My Staffordshire bull terrier likes to pounce on me when I'm on the couch (he knows he's only allowed on the couch when someone's already sitting there) and he just sprawls himself out across my lap, kicking the air with his feet. Then he farts and runs away, leaving me in the smell. He does it all the time XD

Very few people actually report Chihuahua bites (as is show by the fact that they're not slap bang at the top of the list of biting dogs in any report).

@Ten13Grl Well, with that I'm totally with you. My brother has a Bully and she's sweet as pie, but in the neighborhood where he lives people let their dogs run loose all the time and I am SO afraid of what will happen if one of them gets caught up by her.
She's fabulous with dogs she knows, but there's a Shi tzu that will follow her during walks that just annoys her, she's on a leash and the little one isn't but I KNOW which one will get into trouble if that furball gets too close!

@Ten13Grl Opposite of my brother's sweet Bully is my mom's Chihuahua who's bitten SIX people, but none of them ever reported it. That tiny dog scares the snot out of me (I have 3 tiny children) but nothing will ever be done about it.
I trust the Pit Bull with any of my kids, keep an eye on them of course, but I won't even visit my mom's unless her Chihuahua is locked up!

@NomNom126 I've said a few times already that no breed should be allowed to put their teeth on anyone. The reason I stress the importance of not allowing your Pittie to do it is because if the tooth of your Pit winds up touching the skin of the wrong person, your Pit stands a much higher chance of being killed.
Yes, this is unfair, but if we want our breed to survive these times (like so many other breeds have done), then we have to be extra careful and ensure our dogs are perfect ambassadors.

@Ten13Grl When a dog either puts your arm or your hand in their mouth it's actually a sign of affection its like their way of giving kisses my pit mix does the same thing and she never clamps down. Pits have always been my favorite breed of dog and always will be. It's really ashame that people turn these dogs into monsters because they're actually one of the sweetest family dogs you can have :)

@1864vampirelover I'm a dog trainer, so I'm well informed on such things. However, if you'll note, I said, "Please remember, people are morons." It doesn't matter if your Pittie doesn't "clamp down", all that matters to a moron is that your Pit put their mouth on someone. All that it will take for your dog to get destroyed is for them to put their mouth on the wrong moron.
Actually, all it would take for your Pit to be killed is to accidentally scratch the wrong moron (by either tooth or claw).

Sorry but I've personally met people/kids who have been attacked or killed by these dogs. That's why I don't understand how you people defend them. Don't get me wrong I love dogs to death and I don't believe they should be mistreated or tortured (even pitbulls,) but unfortunately these dogs have their instincts and unfortunately they can be unpredictable.

@shangoshun ALL dogs are unpredictable. I met people who have been injure by labs, golden, etc. And most of the time a pit-bull attack is actually another breed that looks similar. And I don't know if you know this but there was a six week old little girl who was killed by her families Pomeranian. That's enough proof that any breed of dog is unpredictable

reminds me of my favorite dog in the world, Boris. Boris passed away a few weeks ago from kidney failure. He was about 14. He was much better looking than your boy (no offense; to me he was the best looking dog in the world :). He was dark brown (looked black), with a white chest, and white stripes on his head and neck. He was a rescued pit. He was the greatest dog ever. I really miss him. Thanks for sharing this moment with your boy :)

I agree with the comment above! I used to deliver schwans to houses, and had a couple pitbulls on my routes! They were the biggest babies I knew! LOL! One of my favorite dogs would sit at his window and watch me at the neighbors and I could hear him whining in the house. He would greet me at the door! Its the bad owners that mistreat these creatures! Heck I had more trouble with Labs than with the Pit bulls.

@thexskating Well, but according to the CDC 32% of the fatalities attributed to to dog attack between 1979–1998 involved pitbulls (pitbull ownership isn't anywhere near 32%). So, evidently, those meaner dogs in the world aren't killing people quite as often. Rottweilers are #2. I agree that dogs are pets more likely to want to be sweet than aggressive. It's just too bad that many of the mean people are choosing the type of dog you like and making them mean. That must be frustrating.

pit bulls are great family dogs. it is the owners who make them go bad. even the michael vick pits are good dogs. one of them is a service dog now and most of the others are have been adopted by families. just google "michael vick service dog". they are not by nature attack dogs. it takes an idiot to make them one, and even then a good owner can change them back.

However, small dog jwas can do some nasty damage too. It is all who is holding the leash and not the dog. They are just the pions in the system called "predjiduce". And I am not saying this to suck up... Experiance of years with dogs with behaviour problems due to their owners... It is the owner, not the dogs.

If more people showed videos like this pits could be saved. They are wonderful pets, loving and sweet. Mine ( R.I.P. Titan) sounded like he was killing me when we rough housed but he never even put any pressure on my arm when he "bit" me. He was 87 pounds of evil looking dog that let the cats have his bed and washed their heads. Pits are amazing, beautiful, loyal and smart. Wish everyone could see them through a pit bull owners eyes.

My Staffordshire bull terrier likes to pounce on me when I'm on the couch (he knows he's only allowed on the couch when someone's already sitting there) and he just sprawls himself out across my lap, kicking the air with his feet.
