LIEBE...
You just can't beat the Steve Winwood version ... you just can't. The perfect balance between artistic sensibility and the frailness at having lived, and being where we all have been at one time in our lives: wasted, and unable to find our way home.
@rick00770 Not just lots of times, she was a member of the band for a few years and then decided to go solo. She played Mary Magdelene in Jesus Christ Superstar and has the best version of "I Don't Know How To Love Him" out there and talk about sexy and the perfect voice, just enter Yvonne Elliman, which BTW I see it on this page now. It is a beautiful song and made for Yvonne Elliman.
@tomthefunky Yvonne Kelly - the English wife of a Monsarrat musician whom EC had an affair in the mid 1980s - gave EC his first daughter Ruth (now a muscian herself). However EC & Elliman did have a passionate affair during this time, before Patti Harrison became 'available'!
@anthonythirteen Elliman toured with Clapton while Pattie Boyd Harrison was dating Clapton and on his tour as well. Pattie divorced George in '74 and went to live with Clapton. Pattie has a photo in her bio of she and Eric next to each other at a train station with Yvonne a few steps ahead of them. Any affair would've been while Pattie was dating Eric before their marriage in '79. Pattie mentions several affairs by Eric in her bio but doesn't mention Elliman as one of them.
cant find my way home is one of the finest songs ever written and although im in my forties this version has brought a tear to my eyes.....absolutely gorgeous version....thank you for taking the time to post this townsend...
I'm also 50, still single, and not dead. Ran into a woman I haven't seen much in the last few years. She had had too much. Walked her home. Came back to the bar. People made fun of me. Thing is, I'm not like that. This song reminds me of what I'm about.

Yvonne owns this song. All the better that she got it down so perfectly with Eric.
