Nice tutorial! I acheived a similar result by using a tapered mesh (sub surf) and have that follow a path (Curve modifier). Because the camera is tracking along the vine tip, growth is perceived. I don't know which method is faster but your method has more potential for a no camera track setup.
Hey everyone, I am going to be updating this tutorial series sometime soon. I've discovered some really good techniques to add to this tutorial. Subscribe to be notified when it comes out!
Guys, subscribe to be notified when I come out with the next follow up to this video. It will be on exporting the Z-Map data from Blender into AE so that you can add/adjust the depth of field. I'll also release a 3rd one on doing the DoF internally in Blender 3D.
I was going to give you the excuse that people not familiar with Blender might Google it and come up with the magazine or the kitchen appliance, but I just Googled it and Blender (3D) is basically every result on the front search page....so I'll stop using it now. :-)
What am I doing wrong if my vines dont grow from a point. I can make them get fatter but they do not start from a point and grow.I am using 2.5

AWESOME tutorial!!!!!
BTW the reason sky showed though was because the back of the hallway was cut out (behind the camera)

Good stuff, and it's nice to see tutorials in HD on YouTube for a change. It makes a big difference.
May I just add one thing which niggles me, and that's the following:
The program is called Blender. Just Blender, no "3D" needed. ;)
Keep up the good work.
