  • ha, your patches suck

  • I just can't grasp what that many modules could be for...

  • HEy! that's wrong! Since when Billy Corgan has hair?

  • So long as it keeps him in the studio and off the stage, I'm for it; worst live singer I've ever paid to see..

  • "Min Modular" lol. Is ther a bigger version? Quite a work out :D . Sorry for beeing a hater but you maust be a real party killer with that thing. ^.^

  • I like the title " MINI Modular"

  • unless this thing can get the original smashing pumpkins lineup back together, billy is wasting his time and money

  • That control layout is insane. Nothing like the Moogs...

  • That's the biggest nerd I have ever seen. After I seen this, then I don't understand how some people say that Einstein is more brainy

  • @redmartian Do you have more vids when you play it like here? Because i'm hooked to this sound, and instrument, like you use it in this video... Very basic, but sooo good in my head! ;-) Hope to hear from you! Anyway, congrats! You do a more than awesome job!!!

  • waaaaaaaaw....... i'm hooked...

  • is this music?? any help with this will be awesome

  • @TheFunkycrisp it's more a state of mind...

  • mini modular?!??!

  • @kotep777 nano

  • @Metotron0 haha

  • IIIIIIIIS Beautiflllll

  • Needs more flashing lights!

  • perfecto pa un directo!!!

Un apregunta, sólo hace eso?????? Ta hueco???

  • Looks beautiful!

  • like my math teacher used to say: "it's like using a nuclear bomb to kill a fly” :-P

  • That´s a nice kitchen.

  • waiting for you to set up at a gig would suck balls

  • mini? what

  • circuitry!

  • so when do we get beamed up into space?

    just kidding

that must bee kinda anoing to try to really get going

  • Eventide on the left.

  • For those asking about mini, it may refer to the plugs used (as opposed to 1/4" type patch plugs like on a Moog.)

  • QUE MIERDA ES ESTA?????????

  • @famosseo Es tu mamá en calzones....

  • @jovauri ajajajajajajajaj pringao

  • wasted on that asshole corgan

  • is it just me or does billy corgan have like,a factory operating where all these different people try find new sounds?

  • where's the mini part...not seeing anything mini about a wall of instruments LOL.

This isn't different from any other modular video on youtube. I'd rather see you try to make some type of music there rather than just jack around with it, which there are a million vids of modulars making just unorganized sounds, or playing one riff over and over.

    Still interesting though.

  • May I suggest that you not play with NASA technologies? You could start a nuclear war with that device yet you continue to play music with it

  • billy boy you suck

just check out any other synth vid!!!

  • I know you're setting it up. but this is annoying.

  • real synth rulezzz !!!! f...k virtual instruments

  • @ematech dont say bad things about virtual instruments ^^

  • Yes, a collect call for Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd.

Will you accept the charges from United States?"...

    Awesome!!

  • Come on. This is boring. Useless. Non-musical. Neat- sure, but non-musical.

  • 32 VCOs??!?!?! I wish i was a bazillionaire to afford that sexxy beast :D

  • Mini?

  • Mini? wouldn't like to carry the full one home ;/ Does it do time travel ?

  • WOAAAAAH

This gave me something like a "auditive orgasm!

How long did u work on it?!!!

  • It is not enough synths there

  • i think he just tryes to turn the god damn thing off, fair enough i couldnt do it either

  • @alfons00p lol!

  • loool mucha makina pa naa...juer que cara encima haciendo el indio!!!

  • loool mucha makina pa naa...juer que cara encima haciendo el indio!!!

  • You guys do realize that just 1 of those 16 cabinets costs just over 2000$ Making the whole thing at least 32000$

  • What is the danger of electrocution on that beast?

  • Why not just buy reason???

Maybe because it takes the element of you doing it yourself on the spot, plus the possibilities are endless as for software your limited.

And this is a guy who owns reason and id rather play with stuff then clicking a mouse

  • Listen to all the Jealous swines trying to pull a strip off. If they hate modular synths so much what are they doing on you-tube watching videos about them?

Good luck and I hope you get it running real sweet.

  • its so...mini))))

  • Making music with a system like this is like tying your shoes with your teeth..

I'll NEVER understand the modular garbage...It is only on a very rare occasion that

I have ever hear anything REALLY good being composed on a modular synth.

What I don't also understand is how some act like this is the end all-be all

of synthesis...maybe it's some mucians way of saying " Look at me, I know what I'm doing " while it looks more like they have no clue.

  • that is way too much.... nice

  • sounds really really good. im gonna play my andromeda synth next week. i think yours sounds better.

  • duuude smoke some weed and find a good beat!

  • Its awesome and all , but funny enough, I sold my expensive over the top synthesizers and down graded to much more straight foward ones. The variety of sounds is lower but the creative output is higher in my opinion. I look at this synth and I just get anxious lol.

  • Someone is actually comparing Reason Software to a REAL SYNTH! That's like comparing ROCKBAND to hiring Eddie Van Halen to play on your recordings.......

  • but why...?

  • @Phyle9 and why not.

  • @redmartian

    haha hmmm...yea :)

  • @redmartian because not.

  • @redmartian because we can!

  • @Phyle9 Because doing it through Reaktor, Aalto, Massive, or Sylenth would be too easy...

  • @Phyle9 If you must ask...

  • weird

  • Its looks nice but it would be good to hear what it really does. Thats a wall :)

  • You know I actually had a good conversation with them, and the thought never occured to me to remove my comment. You make some interesting points but when have you really seen modular synths geared to mainstream "commercial" music?

    Thanks,

    Rhythmicons

  • @Rhythmicons Try listening to Micheal Stearns, Isao Tomita, Wendy Carlos, and many other artists. Recently Steve Roach, Robert Rich and many mainstream bands have modulars in their performance rigs.

  • @Yuwipiman I don't think any of those you listed couldbe considered mainstream though. IM not saying people don't tour with them, but my point is that its not very common. Ive actually had a nice conversation with Carlos.

  • He wasn't programming for Billy. He was getting it set up while we were delivering it to Billy and was just getting ready to demonstrate a function we happened upon that we coined "gate mixing".

The camera was just rolling while we were waiting for Billy to appear to see his new purchase.

That was me wearing the Matrixsynth 'T'. I told him I was going to. :)

Yes, Billy has a system 55 and an EMS synthi but, this video was taken while we were delivering Ichabod.

  • Generally you've got to keep your programming subdued for commercial tracks that have a lot else going. He wasn't programming for him, but still the point should be made that programming isn't always about making the most exotic thing.

  • 0:55 is the guy wearing a matrixsynth shirt? I know Corgan bought a system 55, and an EMS Synthi.....can we see some vodeos of all these?

    Eric

    Rhythmicons

  • pretty wild sounding synth ,reminds me of the old kraftwerk

  • I wouldnt know where to start with this beast!! Soooo much CANDY!!!

  • Billy seems kind of clueless, doesn't he?

  • Gearporn Hardcore!!!

  • holy mother of god.

  • Sweeeeeeeeeet!

  • Congrats on your purchase! Sounds and looks fantastic!

  • I started trying to add 16 cabinets and all the modules he has to the shopping cart on the web site to find out how much he dropped on that behemoth but it was going to take a while.

If anybody else figures it out u should post it.

  • That is a good starting place even though the system beyond the modules (power, cabinetry) is all custom. There are 32 VCOs, 16 VCFs, 16 VCAs, 16 EGs, 16 Mixers, 16 LFOs, buffers, gate delays, Utility 1 (gate producer and divider), 8 MIDI interfaces, Envelope followers .. this first video only shows it at maybe 7% utilization. I could (and hopefully will) spend years with this system.

  • @redmartian

It's like an Andromeda, only bigger and discrete :)

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!

    Fucking great Video !!!

Its the best sounding analogue synth evar !

  • wow not only is that amazing looking, but it sounds great too. Out of curiosity, how much does something like that cost?

  • I see no Reason for that.

  • @redmartian 895.50?? I guessed too low at 5k.

Reason is a nice program, but a software synth will never replace actual circuitry. Its a talking point really to imply that the money you safe is worth the difference.

  • @redmartian you dont need p.c for that!! :) true analog audio*

  • Not to be a jerk or anything but did you ever have the chance to play an analogue modular synthesizer? I don't think you understand Analogues appeal vs. software programs.

  • lolz i wish i could get this unit for "$895.50" HAHAHAHA!!!

  • i'll sell my truck and buy two please

  • Theres easily 5 grand there, if not more.

  • $5k=LMAO.

There's no way I could build that for $5K.

    Higher, much higher.

  • Thanks for the reply. I know K.L. the guy who repaired his 55, he had pics of it on his site. I really would be interested to hear some works of his using those synths, but its hard to pin down what albums they appear on.

Man I got that figure just adding up the cabinets! I really appreciate your reply. I would love to see a picture of the room those synths are all housed in. I have some Moog stuff myself but nothing on that level.

PM me if you like, it must be nice to work with that gear.

  • I know KL. He's a good friend.

We don't have access to Billy's other synths. I just built ichabod and Red Martian and I delivered it to him. Thus, this video. I just make synths.

Billy hasn't built his "Synth room" yet so, everything is just packed up in a room at this time. KL still has EMS synthi ADAIK.

  • @nixonrefugee

That might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You could never replicate the power of an analog modular synth in reason. ever.

  • @beardsarecool all depends on who's playing it. He's not playing it to 1/100th of its potential. I know, although I don't have a Mattson my own modular makes some very complex music

  • @nixonrefugee Reason? Are you mad? Also, if a modular that well equipped only cost $895.50 i'd have one tomorrow...

  • @nixonrefugee

    lol $895?!? try 20-40K

  • @nixonrefugee Yeah,$895 is real expensive.....What? I was thinking it was about at least $10,000

  • @nixonrefugee ... dufus.... hahahahahah... my 1955 gibson les paul cost me $6.76USD...... without the case and strap, of course....

  • @nixonrefugee

Rather something in the order of $10000

  • @nixonrefugee $895!? you gotta be kidding me? That setup must cost at least $10,000.
