i saw a documentary about him one saturday afternoon. i became impressed that he was a forgotten musician and i decided to write a song based on what happened to him. there are some syd barrett fans out there

That's actually Nick Mason at the back of the transit van when the guys were known as the Tea Set. Syd wasn't with them yet, it was Nick, Roger Waters, Rick Wright, Bob Klose and Chris Dennis.
