I'm planning on trying this, and was searching youtube for examples. You make this look easy, while I plan to use a string jig for serving, you make it look so straight forward. I'm hoping the wrap forward, twist away mantra becomes clearer when I have string in my hands!
In this video I was using B-50, but there are alot of different types of materials. D97, fast flight etc. It really depends on what you like to shoot and what your bow can handle!
There are a few minor difference between our string making syle, but that is life. not a bad job. I do think that your brace seemed low for that recurve. another thing to keep in mind is to have one of the string loops larger for when you are unstring the recurve.
o differences are everywhere. That is actually alot higher than the origional brace height of that bow. From the factory it was like 5.5, and now I am at about 8, that gives me the perfect amount of speed and quite. Actually that is something I forgot to mention, but I always make one a tiny bit larger.
i was wanting to learn to make one , i just bought a pse kingfisher , wood recurves are to expensive . i have enjoyed your vids ,thanks for the information
I always love coming back to your page dude because you always produce, good, quality videos!! I've never made a flemish string, but using your video as a guide, I know I could! Great job bro....
I would say that if you use the materials I have show, the string material is 5 or 8 bucks, because it is b-50, that is cheaper than fast flight material, which is really expensive, like 35 bucks a spool. And my jig is home made. So probably all together, like 25 bucks, and it only takes like a half hour to make a string when you get good at it, I would say about 45 minuets for your first one!
as long as there are no errors it will be uploaded sometime this evening! So you should definatly be able to watch it tommorrow, probably later tonight!
Good stuff buddy... I got lazy over the years and just use 2 nails for the jig, then I use a timber hitch for the lower limb. It keeps the string from coming off when I pull the bow out of it's sock. (case) Keep it up....Take care..
can you use this on a compound too?

NRXTN1 8 months ago
@NRXTN1 when you put it on the bow you just twist it up to make the string shorter . . . good question, I should have shown that in the video . . .
