  • daaamn, i lived in melrose at the time. was some crazy ass shit.

  • The sirens do their best but they dont have any chance to come over the sounds of nature..

Its heavy, but only one siren is loud enough, the one with the deeper sound.hat kind of siren is it??

  • Whoa thats a really bad scattered thunderstorm I hope you didn't lose power. Was the thunder storm scattered? Or Isolated?

  • @elevatorgeorgie It was Isolated but over a wide area.

  • oh my god

  • I remember that day. It was one scary but fun day. When the sirens went off, I was in the garage, and couldn;t believe all the lightening I saw.

  • @TspesVladD hey what up?

  • Awesome video of one of the many many such awesome 8/4/08-YouTubed-videos that all garnered such tremendous publicity from the unprecedented severe lightning/thunder shows imaginable...that literally pounded the Chicago area that wild night... Such videos here even outdoes my own monster 7/28/89-Tstorm video((also on YouTube...))..anyways..since I'm quite an avid Tstomr-taping fan((hence my user-name)) these such videos do have such special meanings to me in such MMWTO...!

  • tree fell on my apartment building that night. if u get the local paper it was in it. you can see me! lol

  • love this, awesome sound

  • are you recordin this under a tree?

If so, that's a very bad location when you are witnessing a thunderstorm!

    Good video though

  • The lighting at the end is very cool. The people passing by in their car must have been scared.

  • If anyone is interested, the tornado sirens heard in this video are whelens. The one in the first part of the video must be a whelen 3016. And the other ones must be either R4s or 4004s. One of the whelen R4s or 4004s is across the street from the train staion. And another one of those is near Manheim road. I don't where the 3016 ones are though. And I'm sure one of the sirens heard is not a 2001 siren, considering that all the other oens are whelens.

  • @TspesVladD cool man chicago has so many wheelens

  • @bohrokthunder, yeah, the chicago area has some. Have you seen the one in Franklin Park? (the one heard in this video)

  • @TspesVladD i have been to chicago 2 times but i havent seen any sirens but the next time i go i will look

  • @TspesVladD i ment three

  • @TspesVladD well I heard a FS 2001 in Melrose Park in this video maybe the one on Lake and cornell or on 9th beside the Target or Winston Plaza. Melrose Park has 3 2001's. Franklin Park has 5 whelens that I seen so far

  • @eddy75471 sorry I think Franklin Park has 4 whelens

  • In franklin park, do they test the tornado sirens (heard in this video), on the first Tuesday of the month and 10:00 A.M.

  • I love the sound of the sirens in this movie. They are kind of creepy.

  • I had the soggiest bike ride home EVER that evening...

  • I remember this storm, I live in Northlake...I was hiding in the hallway closet with my niece and my son while my husband sat in the window like an idiot.

    Thanks for sharing! Very interesting

  • Excellent video. Thank you for posting it as well as the info on the side. That's the largest amount of lightning I have ever heard of. To think those were only the Cloud to Ground strikes counted and not the several thousand more Cloud to Cloud bolts.

Remarkable. It must have been a lot of fun to witness and experience the wrath of mother nature.
