i know this ad was to inspire us to embrace the new butlins...but i remember seeing this as a kid and thinking...well I liked the old chalets and dining room, there destroying my holiday mum! Iys quite sad really...but completley had to happen for it to survive. If i had one wish, it would be to go back in time and spend one more week at Butlins Filey in the 70's with my family. happy, perfect and fond memories wich will last with me forever!
The ad was created by Lyn Middlehurst (Agency KHBB - 1987) and the Director was Martin Campbell (yes, that Martin Campbell, mister Bond). The music was recorded by Candle Music with new lyrics by the actual Beverley Sisters, who first recorded the song and used to work as red-coats at Butlin's. It was shot a Butlin's Bognor, but apart from the canteen and outside chalets, most of the sets were built.
The chalets are the old staff chalets at Bognor Regis. The dining room was the staff canteen, and I seem to remember the rest of the camp was Filey which had closed down four years' earlier, but was still standing, just!
@kimptdarr22 I do not know the name of the song that's from the 1950's
Anyway this is NOT my VHS recording of a programme on ITV and CH4 in 1987 I downloaded it from the Arrows Archive website using RealPlayer Downloader converted to WMV file and then uploaded it on YT for your viewing pleasure!!
my dad said he saw this when he was 20 or something and he was shouting at the tv " NO MY MEMORIES!"

Thanks for this, waited ages for this advert to appear on Youtube !
Does anyone know which Butlins camp chalets and dinning halls were blown up in this advert or were they just models ? One again, a great upload.
