There is no middle ground for Lawler's stupid comments during women's matches. Either the women aren't attractive enough for him, are so hot that he is reduced to babbling like a moron, or are too old. Kong should have slapped the taste out of Lawler's mouth, which would probably have taken out a couple of teeth as well.
@roylucier and @rpenta: Alundra Blayze/Madusa said on WWE's website that she was under contract and Bitchoff told her to trash the belt or she was fired.
Regardless of what anyone thinks, you can't have women breaking the noses of other women on USA network. The WWF's sponsors would have pulled out and RAW would have ended up being taken off the air. The AJW girls should have had the sense to tone down their style for the US.
@RSNCICREO You are right. New Japan and All Japan were on TV for years, and had tougher more violent action than a broken nose, and never had complaints
I don't see why people are defending Aja here. We all know AJW was stiff as a board... that doesn't mean Aja's carelessness in breaking ASARI's nose should be overlooked. There is a big difference here.
@MaffewVsCapcom Yeah, guess Vince didn't watch them in their Japanese settings before the match, left it all to Jim Ross to bring in the talent, I believe
Vince wasted such a golden opportunity with the AJW girls, there was just no sense to any of it - & all the while he's pushing the hell out of a bible-sucking Jake Roberts and Ahmed "Insert Your Own Joke" Johnson. Crowds were hot for Asari every time she was out there despite the fact almost nobody ever sold for her. This match could have been a catalyst for a fantastic 1-2-3 Kid/Razor-style upset & subsequent feud if Asari hit that corkscrew moonsault and got a quick count.
@charlietjr Trouble is that at this point - as I'm sure you know - the bookers thought they would be having Kong vs Blayze at the Royal Rumble. Kong suffering a humiliating upset here would have lost her a lot of momentum and seriousness as a threat to the title. Besides, I doubt they were going to have the 'Survivor Series 95' females borrowed from Japan actually stick around.
Woah, I've waited decades to see this match! I had heard about it so long ago, and I couldn't believe there was a match on Raw with Aja Kong busting open Asari. I think what really unnerved Vince was the blood; perhaps if Kong hadn't drawn blood at the end things would've been different. I bet she got a proper dressing down for the stiffness and blood, though. The subtle "potatoe" comment was funny.
@ChrisGary92 But Seroiusly, for Vinny Mac to find a good way out of a bad situation (i.e.: Madusa dumpin' the WWF women's title in the trash and gettin' rid of the title for another 4 years), NOT AWSOME!
@ChrisGary92 understood... but Vince let a great thing go here, not so much with the whole Madusa thing (there was no one in the company who even considered her dropping the belt in the trash on Nitro), but as far as potential, Vince just thought Aja's "style" was way too "rough", and how it reflected on the men's side. It was just "good timing" on Vince's part, that Madusa dropped the belt in the trash, cause he never would have known what to do with Aja.
Y'know what, @roylucier, I completely understand. Because really, I know I don't watch much of any Japanese women's wrestling, but all I know is that for many years in Japan, Aja was feared by all of the female wrestlers (except Madusa and Kia Stevens aka Awesome Kong), because of her manish-like figure. But really, if Vince knew that that was a bad idea, maybe he should've let girls like her and Bull Nakano alone!
You're an idiot. Bloodying someone's nose means it's way too stiff. If you want to stiff people, join MMA. How tough are you if you stiff people? That poor girl is LETTING Aja hit her in the face, hoping she'd be professional enough to pull it. F*** Aja Kong.
2:30 look at that in slow mo. A perfect spinning package piledriver. You won't see that on RAW anymore. I am amazed that ASARI and Kong could do such a fantastic match in so little.
Since I'm on the subject may I deliver a message almost 14 years in the making. Vince this is not too stiff, this is wrestling get use to it.
Roy, as you know I am trying to find Nakano in Mexico matches--I want to find some experts in luchador wrestling--I understand the Nakano vs. Xochitl Hamada (older sister of Ayako Hamada) was one of the greatest women's pro wrestling matches of all time--which is saying a lot.
Almost done with this box, then grabbing another RPenta.... sorry I haven't been on as much, I finally met someone, and I've been spending a lot of time with her, but when I am home, I am concentrating on these tapes. I know I have a LOT of Xochitl matches, but not sure on the Bull one, esp. if it was 1997, I think you said
I suggest as Roy said, check out their matches in Japan--like you do not get the full measure of Bull Nakano in the matches with Madusa except in Bull's title victory match; like Kyoko Inoue is super but the WWE stuff is so so.
Right so Vince was mad that the Japanese women like Aja were too stiff. Yet look what's happened - it might have gone PG and there's no more T&A contests anymore, but he's still using Playboy bunnies and bikini models who can barely pick daisies let alone put on a good match. Of the women currently under contract, only about 6 of them were trained before coming to WWE (7 if u count Gail Kim).
yep, vince cant take seeing real womens wrestling so he hire playmates and lingerie models and tells to to pretend to wrestle. Only about 5-6 of the current divas can even wrestle.
though for pure entertainment id love to see Lufisto, Megumi Kudo, Combat Toyoda, Aja Kong, Amazing Kong and Bull Nakano take on all the divas minus beth, mickie, natayla, melina and kim.
Not a prob.... got a lot more like this and others coming.... wish I had some more Ebessan to upload however. He could have easily run circles around Savage or Warrior (the late 90's Savage, I mean)
BTW, watch the copyright dude. Last thing you want is to start a huge channel of great videos and lose it all without notice because WWE Legal comes after you. They've been cracking down lately.
PLEASE TELL ME.... what I should watch out to upload, because I see entire PPV's and 24/7 shows and DVD's on here, that have been on YouTube for over two years... so your advice on what NOT to upload is highly appreciated.
It's your choice really. A lot of people have WWE footage available but they're just lucky. I don't follow the WWE so I just assume the footage they have up doesn't have certain tags that get flagged easily. The WWE owns just about everything which limits what you can upload but it's your call. I don't risk uploading old WCW matches with the Mexicans for that very reason. No reason to lose hard work on a youtube account for a quick match that WWE Legal catches. I'd say steer clear...
OK.... I should just concentrate then on my AAA, CMLL, and Japan collection then... are they busting people showing handhelds of WWF/WWE shows also, do you know?
It'd be safe to do those, yeah. Handhelds should be alright and rare for youtube so that'd be awesome. Or you could always create two youtube accounts like I know some people do. One can be the "safe" account where you keep the vids you know are okay and the other can be the WWE owned stuff where you take your risk.
The only Japan vids that seem to get yanked are from the Gaora TV station but you usually get a warning before they yank those videos.
Wow. I figured this match would have inspired someone to sign MORE Joshi ladies. That's Vince's loss, I suppose. He could have had one Hell of a women's division.
I will watch it; but I think many "situations" in wrestling history are not as unrelated as many have thought--Nakano is involved here--certainly Aja Kong is.
Of course, Aja could tone down her style; you did not see Bull lariot or kick Madusa into oblivion as she did, say Manami Toyota or Kyoky Inoue,
big question: you know Vinnie Mac had no clue what Madusa or Bishchof were up to: was Madusa already planning something at this point? Guess I have to add Eric Bishoff to the witness list. Have you ever read his book, Controversy Creates Cash?
I have a gut instinct on this one, that since there was no "noticeable" women's division in WCW, that the whole belt dropping incident is Miceli's idea, and she called Bischoff shortly before the contract ran out, and was the one who pitched the idea in order to guarantee herself a contract and to gain a quick name, and Bischoff okayed it. Call it gut feeling, but I don't think Bischoff was the brains behind it, Have you seen "The Monday Night Wars?" WWE 24/7 special that's on here?
No, I will check it out. I guess I am going to have to deal with the infamous belt dropping incident--If I can solve that I will have made a contribution to wrestling history but I am more interested in honoring Nakano and the Joshi and the Luchadoras than in running down Madusa--no pun intended as she is a monster truck driver--Madusa is a fascinating woman but I suspect her ambition is hard for her to contain.
Bischoff briedly mentions the belt dropping incident on "WWE 24/7 THE MONDAY NIGHT WARS" It's here on YouTube.... Bischoff is ACTUALLY one of the panel members, along w/ Lawler, Ross, Dusty, Hayes, and someone else. And he does a good job of "defending" himself on it. I need to rewatch it, but he does mention it. I'd concentrate more on Bull on your doc... but this incident DOES need more press than it has been given.
Out of those three people, I think Miceli would have the most info on this situation, but to get Aja's perspective on it would be great too... I don't think enough has been made of this whole situation. I read from Meltzer and heard from other sources that THIS MATCH was a major factor in the women's division being canned. There WAS a working agreement with AJW, so for him to can out of NOWHERE, either there was backstage bickering, or the style that Aja used here was just too much for Vince...
Sorry, did you utilize the European style of dating so the date of this match is November 12, 1995? Maybe that is causing me confusion--that would make the belt dump 5 weeks later--I think theses events are related but not necessarily as does the great DoubleMiz; what is your interpretation?
I'm in the wrong.... as far as my last comment, the Madusa belt dumping happened exactly one week later. Sorry for the confusion, that's why I deleted the comment.
Glad you like it..... I had a stick up my ass since I got a YouTube account to find this match, and that one joshi fan from the Phillipines gave me the link from Megaupload.... so I put it on here, she was afraid that WWE would try to ding her if she did it. THERE ARE WHOLE PPV'S ON HERE!!! I don't think it's a priority of them to take this one match off.
Yeah, as a matter of fact, this match was once here on YouTube but like always, the WWE sticks out their finger. You know, I'm a Bull Nakano but in the past, I've seen her match from WWF and WCW but those match are always deleted. Reason? WWE.
thanks for the up! mcmahon probably objected to the uraken. one of the most vicious ones ive seen actually. he was probably worried that a few of those would rearrange the features of his Divas? :p
Why did Moe, Larry, and Curley--Sorry, I mean Vince, Curt Hennig, and Lawler have such a hard time calling the feaking match--they were too busy insulting Aja and talking about Shawn Michaels. By the way, I am sorry that Curt Henning passed away, he was a great wrestler and I understand a nice guy-but let me get this straight--Vince fired Nakano for a drug possession charge and is doing commentary with a man who overdosed on cocaine in 2003 and was a steroid user--like Vince.
because hbk is ridiculously powerful backstage ... and the commentators found aja's face sickening (to think that she toned down her moveset in this match when in japan she is constantly in MURDEROUS rage)
Thanks for posting this rare match; it is starting a debate between myself and the great DoubleMiz about Madusa--I am critical of her, although I respect her as a wrestler and DoubleMiz is not so critical; this match, if I am correct was one week before the infamous belt dumping stunt.
So that's why the joshi girls weren't used for too long in the 'E. Wow, Vince doesn't want to believe the girls can hit as hard, or harder than the men. That's his misogynistic loss
Was Vince not aware of the matches Aja and Madusa had in Japan in 1990? Or that Bull Nakano had defeated Aja in the famous steel cage match--and how mauled each of them looked after?
Kong broke Chapparita's nose with the final backfist. That's what people want to see in wrestling, right? Totally not stiff.

So if there is only a one week gap between incidents, the following events had to happen:
1. Vinnie fired Madusa or did not renew her contract and fired Aja and cancelled the announced title match;
2. Eric Bischoff hired Madusa
3. Madusa dumped the belt.
Is this the necessary sequence of events?
There is something rotten someplace so I guess I need to interview at least 3 people:
