  • Which one is better man, i want to buy Harman Kardon AVR 165 or this one. I already have Harman Kardon HKTS 16 BQ 5.1 Speakerset. For me, only sound quality matters and the connections. Can anyone advise me?

  • lights up white

  • my house has 2 subs

  • love the app from onkyo. i can control everything thru my ipod including internet radio. got my airplay thanks to the onkyo app.

  • yep...i have the same receiver. hearing preference for tv is usually at 60 on my onkyo rcvr. ipod good sound is at about 62. why cant i get the loud dts sound on my rcvr? I have my receiver hooked up to am-5's in my caveman room. powerful sound, clear especially when im in audyssey mode. so clear!!!

  • what is this receiver like for music via ipod? and have you used the bi-amp facility?

  • man how old is this video? going to hdmi?,man phones have hdmi now.yes i see the post date, that even worse it was posted this year, hdmi is nothing new.

  • yes u are.

  • This Onkyo is 7.2 channel / 100 watts per channel. Question: At how many ohms is that rating? Example: 100 watts @ 2,4,8,or 16 ohms etc. per channel.

  • @TwinMillMC the other (same) nr-609 160w/ch....

  • @TwinMillMC

    100 W @ 8 ohms, 125 W @ 6 ohms

  • No PS3?

  • I'm getting a really good Onkyo receiver + speakers and Apple TV and loads of Xbox accessories and a bit more. Can't wait! =D

  • its selling $379.99 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping right now

  • Sorry. I have insignia speakers. Do I need a receiver to use them, or do they just wirelessly connect to my vision tv

  • I hav

  • Ok.. I got a question.. I've purchased the same receiver. I've set it up.. Run the calibration for the speakers and it all seems fine.. The problem I'm having is the low sound.. I have to turn the volume up to like 60 or 70 to hear it.. I have checked all my connections and all seems fine there.. I'm figuring I'm missing something in the settings.. Any Idea? Cheers!!

  • @HumanConsuption I think it depends on the type of signal you're receiving. For instance, when playing Xbox 360, volume 45 is usually alright. However, when I watch Netflix on my Apple TV, I usually need to crank it up to 55. But yes, this is also something I've noticed. I don't think it's a problem. I guess it's just how this particular receiver behaves. I've become used to it.

  • @HumanConsuption I think you will find that it depends on your volume control setting. There is one for controlling the normality of the volume. If you play with those you will find that you can get better volume.

  • @HumanConsuption click setup on the remote and on the menu screen click on source setup. On the source setup menu click on IntelliVolume and increase the input signals to the sources connected to your amp. It boosts the signals to the amp thus producing a louder sound. I hope this helps if you haven't figured it out already!

  • @HumanConsuption need to calibrate receiver or raise db levels up i know cause i do this for living check out my vid. "how to set up onkyo receiver".

  • so my father in law had this onkyo receiver I believe and some Sony one, he got the Sony one even though he felt onkyo was far superior but he got it because people where raving about it. We where listening to some music and decided to cranked them both...the Sony blew. the onkyo is still working. enough said

  • I love unboxing videos !!! Ha I still rock my vcr still thank you very much.. :p I am a bit old school . I got a blu-ray player in Feb.

  • My Dad's friend does the same kind of thing but I beleive they stopped carrying Klipsch. Too bad because I wanted to get two floorstanding speakers.

  • needs airplay

  • this is 7.2 just to let u know ,the only difference is u can hook up a second subwoffer to your receiver so yup.injoy .

  • 4k support? Very Interesting

  • Onkyo, Denon are some of the best non-audiophile brands for theater setups. I have a Denon receiver and i have had Onkyo in the past and have always had a great experience. I laugh at those that spend 3 times the price on Bose junk products which don't come close in terms of features and performance.

  • ONKYO good amps, I had a yamaha that was also very good, but then I buy the tx sr608 and loved it, but I just buy the tx nr1009 and is a super machine, so the Onkyo receiver that I want to buy it the counsel, especially if they are 809 series up. ok greetings.

  • @thecreativeone One Question I have is What exactly is the purpose and benefits to having a receiver. I've never had one and never really even known exactly what their purpose is. I've Just plugged cables into my TV, and my surround sound has it's own Amplifier of which all speakers are connected to. Can I connect my speaker to the receiver instead?

  • Comment removed

  • i looked Onkyo up on amazon, great reviews on this audio receiver which is perfect for me who owns a turntable. i can use it for music and my tv. Onkyo must be a good brand, i'm getting it.

  • I have the Yamaha RV A1000

  • David it doesn't really support two subs, this is just a pre out like it is labeled on device itself :D

  • I currently use a Pioneer receiver and works very well

  • can you do a demo on the iphone app remote

  • its all about denon or yamaha lol.

  • dude wat happened to ur ps3

  • @BlueJokers It's downstairs for a little while. My dad's Blu-ray player isn't working, so we're using my PS3 for the time being.

  • @thecreativeone are u going to get uncharted 3 for ur ps3

  • @thecreativeone what subwoofer do you have , how deep does it go. Does it go down to 20hz or 10hz at over a 110 db SPL.

  • @thecreativeone i thought he got a ps3

  • Thats bad ass!

  • Why do receivers have to be so bloody huge?

  • @K2ACP There needs to be room for all the components – especially the power supply. If you lift one, you'll notice one side is significantly heavier than the other.

  • @K2ACP It's a amplifier dude. And that one is pushing power. And because of the power supply.

  • Were ur ps3

  • I love cables I find it fun having to sort them all out neatly and then put them in cable ties, you should do that!!!!! Could maybe make an interesting video..

  • whats that black bracelet with white lettering on it from , i see alot of people wearing them

  • i think you should retire the philips screw driver... you. know.. for a flat head? x)

  • Please tell me your selling your old receiver?

  • Also love the video lol :) (Who the hell uses VCR... I do O:D)

  • about 45% of North America uses old non HD LCD or LED Tube T.V's and component and composite is easily being used through the world plus Hdmi cables are like 35$ for 6 Feet and much to expensive for some families including mine. I know you can buy these cables online but not everyone trusts online shopping.

  • @TheWindows7Mac if you buy one for 35$ your getting ripped off, there 12$ online

  • @TheWindows7Mac omg, who doesn't trust online shopping these days?

  • @bernardopkmDP178 quite a few people i know don't and i know your gonna say "oh well thats just them" well alot of people don't u can be scammed hacked info stolen ETC anyway i trust it... Sorta anyway but alot of people have been effed over by online shopping...

  • @TheWindows7Mac Yeah, but a lot more people have shopped online successfully. You just have to your research.

And of course, buy from big websites, not from any random guy who negotiates via e-mail or anything.

  • @TheWindows7Mac just have to DO your research i meant.

  • @TheWindows7Mac HDMI cables at my local electronics store are around $10-$20. lol

  • Very nice video. I did enjoyed it.

  • NICE! Sweet receiver, sounds like A LOT of awesome features! I wish this was mine! Good unboxing David!

  • Ok I may be having a dumb moment but what do these actually do? lol

  • Ok I may be having a dumb moment but what do these actually do? lol

  • Hey i use VCR

  • Where's your PS3 its not next to the Xbox ? Awesme, you should do a setup video for when you hook everything up,

  • You should totally do a video on setting up a receiver. I haven't done it but I'd love to see how to set one up.

  • XD nice

  • Nice

  • I always loved those power buttons with the awesome indent textures. :)

  • You mentioned your old receiver is gonna be a side receiver when you move out. Curious are you looking for a place now (my question mark key no longer works ;_;)

  • Pringles in the background @ 5:59!

  • @OrangeSodaLover Haha! Good eye!

  • @OrangeSodaLover it's like find waldo! Only you have to find the Pringles in David's videos!

  • Your t-shirt is look like shazam logo

  • ha get a knife man

  • I'm just wondering, what the heck is this kind of product used for? I think I have one myself, though it's for music (and not TV's), but.. I have no idea what the actual usage for it is.

  • @mrisump Think of it as a hub for everything in a home theater: speakers, TV, game consoles, Blu-ray player, etc.

  • Hey David, does your mate Alfred have a youtube tech channel?

  • @equinox5 Yep! He has a great channel. His YouTube name is "adiblasi"

  • cool

  • Nice receiver, I have the the 607, a few years older. Talking about component cables, you can connect your Wii with component cables to your receiver and it will look slightly better than en standard cables it comes with.

  • I rock a VCR.

  • Hey David where'd your Ps3 go? :O

  • @ramz9169 It never went nowhere he just showed his xbox 3 shitty

  • @CArBoNDOGAnGStaFLO Oh lol usually its beside the Xbox so i thought he mightve sold it or something

  • @ramz9169 Ya bro

  • You need a knife or something, Dave, considering how many uboxings you do lol.

  • Hey David Do You Know How Much Your Speakers are cause I'm Looking For Good Speakers For Music ?

  • @TheJalen1018 I actually got my first Onkyo speakers with my previous receiver. Everything was bundled together as a "home theater in a box" package. If I remember correctly, everything cost around $500, which isn't bad at all. The large stereo speakers you see in this video were handed down to me by my Dad, since he upgraded the ones downstairs. Still though, the ones that came with my first receiver are great for the price.

  • @thecreativeone Thank you very much that help a lot for my searching.

  • @TheJalen1018 Hey TheJalen1018 I'm Looking For A School Where One Can Learn To Properly Write A Sentence. Would You Know A Place? Oh Wait Never Mind You Capitalize Every Word.

  • @futurehollywood22 Hey so did you

  • @TheJalen1018 to make fun of you.

  • i want to bang your entertainment center.

  • i never use HDMI, its horrible.

  • @NAPSTERUK00 you never tride it its sweet

  • @dan99611 from what i heard it's a pain to set up, and plus i don't need it because my TV is only 32" =>

  • @NAPSTERUK00 ok then

  • @NAPSTERUK00 a pain to set up? Are you serious? It's one cable. You plug it in and use.

  • @NAPSTERUK00 HDMI is one cable. It doesn't get simpler.

  • @thecreativeone I agree!

  • Looks like a sweet unit! I have a donkeys year old 5.1 receiver which I love but I just wish it had HDMI, Oh well I can manage without for the moment as the sound quality is still top notch!

  • Nice video as always David.

  • As Always another great video david, at the start i though you sounded a bit russian.

    lol

  • 6:34 ahah

  • I really, really, really, really, really... want one of these... though my cambridge audio is awesome! Any chance you could do a video review of this? i'd love to hear some examples of what it can do.

  • I have a Denon 7.1 receiver and it was a thousand bucks.

  • Best unboxing in a long time!

  • coool beans

  • you said 7.1 and the title says 7.2

  • @clashed13 Explained at 6:50

  • This was uploaded the day my dad got on every news channel and world wide news paper haha

  • I lied. One more. I love the idea of a setup mic to set levels depending on room acoustics! BOOM!

  • David, any recommendation for a good 5.1 receiver?

  • did you mean 200$ off? I read somewhere that the retail price is just over 500 dollars.

  • @Mikza90 The price I'm seeing on Amazon is $399.

  • dont peel off the stickers! ;)

  • I have the yamaha RX-V671!

  • One more. Is that the famous sock graveyard?

  • I never took any friends up on Bose discounts. I need to change that!

  • Yes! Stickers!

  • I've been always wondering if there's a big difference between TV speakers and home theater because I don't know if it is worth buying so expensive stuff.

  • @Ryuke112 It's a HUGE difference

  • @Ryuke112 massive difference but only really worth spending out if you love your movies at home or you need something loud to pump out the tunes, you can get great sond out of a mac when put through an amp. Try an all in one system if you want to keep to a budget

  • Cool Thank You

  • Comment removed

  • Put a Sticker on it!

  • I get it... "Not the current"... ha.. ha...

Just Kidding, David. Awesome video as always.

  • Get more speakers and hook the Mac Pro up to the old receiver.

  • That thing is sweet!

  • Thanks! Love your videos! Great!

  • Great Video :D
