I think that ppl are right in saying that caroline and GLaDOS are the same person. Caroline could have had her mind put into a robot thus creating GLaDOS, thats why she says that they look familiar and she says the same thing Caroline was going to say to cave. then my theory is that Chell is indeed Carolines daughter because the turrets end up singing Cara Mia which is a song from mother to daughter. The caroline part of GLaDOS`s mind programmed the turrets to sing that.

He says somthing like "Why cant a human mind go into a cd, like a program?" or something, sorry, I just don't remember. I believe he found a way to do so, and put Carolines memory inside a program, which then became GLaDos. Someone probably already said this, but whatever.

There is only one other female character besides chell in the story. So it really is very safe to assume that this is a portrait of Caroline.

She seems to say that as an automatic response then she flips out. She also says she knows that "guy" (Cave Johnson) and shouts when he mention blowing peoples houses up with lemons. And Cave Johnson said that she would make his scientists make Caroline (GLaDOS) be in charge of the aperture facility when he dies.
GLaDOS is an A.I. with human emotions and Caroline has been stored in her database or brain. Caroline is second in command basically helping you while she was in GLaDOS.
I don't know, because Cave Johnson talks about immortality and how he wants his consciousness downloaded into a computer. He also mentions that if they don't have that technology before he dies, he wants Caroline to be the first to benefit from it.

@workshop4life1 I think caroline WAS the assistant, then decided to marry C.J, She was then implanted into GLaDOS, and C.J died and was possibly put into a core, or many cores.

It's true that Caroline is GLaDos, but not entierly. Somewhere in the game Cave Johnson starts talking about disks and memories, I suppose. He says somthing like "Why cant a human mind go into a cd, like a program?" or something, sorry, I just don't remember. I believe he found a way to do so, and put Carolines memory inside a program, which then became GLaDos. Someone probably already said this, but whatever.

@B1ushMoe GLaDOS was a program made by cave johnson i presume and GLaDOS had caroline memory and GLaDOS is just a program not human they just built emotion into her which then went wrong which therefore means its caroline and following that statement is that Caroline was with cave Johnson the whole time till he died from a sickness.

@collut1 If this were reality yes that could be any woman. But because this is a game with a story why would the artists waste a bunch of time designing a random woman. There is only one other female character besides chell in the story. So it really is very safe to assume that this is a portrait of Caroline.

@WolfieCubProductions I was going to mention that but there is a character limit and i didnt want to double post. But i dont think if GLaDOS was ever a human like you said. Im still not sure when Cave told her to say "Goodbye Caroline" and she said it like a robot would and said "Goodbye Caroline" to herself so im really not sure because she did say somthing else that a human would say.

@WolfieCubProductions If you have beaten the game GLaDOS in potato form says Yes sir, Mr. Johnson As the same time as the recording that plays in one of the old aperture testing sphere. She seems to say that as an automatic response then she flips out. She also says she knows that "guy" (Cave Johnson) and shouts when he mention blowing peoples houses up with lemons. And Cave Johnson said that she would make his scientists make Caroline (GLaDOS) be in charge of the aperture facility when he dies.
