After we knew it went out I actually dropped my camera - it was dangling from the wrist strap. I didn't remember that I was filming until he was almost across the plate. I was just SO THRILLED that I actually captured the moment. ...My favorite part is that the crowd goes silent and you can actually hear the crack of the bat when he connects. Historic.

not true actually. It's not so much the added power that steroids bring, but the quicker bat. For example, if you threw bonds a high inside fastball, he'd turn on it and hit it hard somewhere. But if you're just a fraction of a second slower with the bat, that hard hit ball becomes a pop up. So basically steroids gave Bonds the luxury of waiting just a split second longer before letting it rip. He could always hit the ball a mile. With roids, he could hit a lot more balls a mile.

In '99 he hit 34 HR. Then next year he started off slender but bigger than usual. That year he hit 49. By the end of that year looked like the hulk. The next year he hit 73

As an avid Giants fan my money says he started roiding between the '99 season and 2000 season. If so then he already had 445 by that time.

McGuire hit 70 in '98 and 65 in '99. I think that's when Barry got jealous of all the attention he and Sammy were getting.
